I was able to do it as well when I had surgery I made my self some nerve wrecking thoughs and the doctor was like "Is everything alright?" and after 2 more minutes of not falling asleep they pumped me some more drugs. Was worth it and basically you just need to think about negative stuff to scare yourself like fuck and your heart rate will spike.
