LYRICS
Life is changing
I can't go on without you
Rearranging yeah
I will be strong
I'll stand by you
You were fighting everyday
So hard to hide the pain
I know you never said goodbye
I had so much left to say
One last song
Given to an Angel's Son
As soon as you were gone
As soon as you were gone
I have a new life now
She lives through you
What can I do
I feel so alone now
I pray for you
We still love you
You were fighting everyday
So hard to hide the pain
I know you never said goodbye
I had so much left to say
One last song
Given to an Angel's Son
As soon as you were gone
As soon as you were gone
One last song
(I can't believe you're gone)
Given to an Angel's Son
(I can't believe)
As soon as you were gone
(As soon as you were gone)
As soon as you were gone

I went to see Sevendust in the summer of 2002. The sun that day was extremely hot. Everyone was over heating and using their shirts as wash cloths to cool down from the drinking fountains. As soon as the band started to play this song, clouds swept over us. It started raining and the lead singer stopped. He started to cry and told all of us, "This is a special rain right here". They continued with the song and by the time the song was over, the rain stopped and the clouds went away revealing the dry hot sun again. I will never forget that experience. I was never a die hard fan of Sevendust, but that experience was very strange. That's all I have to share.

This band Sevendust has meant so much to my son . He love their music as a teenager and would always attend their concerts whenever they would come around . They were the band that inspired him to pick up and learn to play guitar . He idolize these guys so much . Over time he started bands, played in other bands. Then he found the right fit . His buddy Josh and him put together a 6 piece band they named Burden Of The Sky . They did all the local bar gigs and surrounding areas as their talent grew . In 2019 they were able to open up for Sevendust for of several shows . My Son was beyond excited to get to open up for the band he idolized as a teenager . He had already been diagnosed with stage four non-Hodgkin’s at that time and going through chemo treatments . But nothing was going to stop him from playing with the band he loved an opening for the band he idolized . He was given a bone marrow transplant 1 year ago on February 5 and then in March The worldwide pandemic hit . He was able to beat the cancer finally . But the treatment left his lungs scarred . So when he got hit with Covid at the end of November he had to go back in to the hospital. He thought an amazing fight but his lungs just couldn’t take it . We got to go up to the university of Chicago and say our goodbyes to her beautiful son on Friday February 5 one year from the day of his bone marrow transplant . My son Bradford was only 31 years old he was the kindest sweetest most genuine person I’ve ever met . And so many people have reached out to us over the last couple days and told us the same thing . He was an accountant by day a Rockstar by night. He was just in little central Illinois band but he made an impact to all the people that met him . Fly with the Angels my son ❤️

He passed away almost 2 years ago and there isn't a day that goes by that i dont think about him. Always make sure to tell the people that you love that you love them. You never know when your going to wake up and and find out there not there anymore. I miss you so much big bro. You were and will always be my best friend. I love you so much. And Scott Weiland, Lead Singer of Stone Temple Pilots. He died of an accidental drug overdose. He was in a band called art of anarchy at the time, and he in death called upon Scott Stapp to take over his band after his death and get out of the terrible drug-ridden path he was going down. This caused an album called “The Madness” to be released.

Sevendust’s masterpiece
Three years ago on August 11th, my brother passed away, we played this song at his funeral. Sevendust was his favorite band. I hadn't seen the music video until about a year after he passed. Every time I see the video it brings back that whole day, seeing him lay there in the hospital bed. I have a new life now, I've come a long way, joining the Marine Corps, seeing and doing things people wouldn't imagine. I only hope he's proud. I miss him everyday. I love my brother, and I only hope he's happier, in a better place.

I lost both my last living grandparents this year to Covid. My Granny and Poppy passed away this March. This song is so beautiful and helps me.
I have lost both of my sons..4 and 18, this song hits home hard...beautiful and sorrowful at the same time.
My only son Christopher put this song on my phone as my ringtone. Little did I know that God would call Chris Home 8 months now at age 36 and I listen to this for you Chris my beautiful son. I miss you so much and I will see you again when God calls me Home with Jesus.
I lost my mother to breast cancer when i was a child in '93 on Dec. 16th. My holiday spirit was broken and it was just a few days after my birthday. This killed all my happiness this time of year. I'm not religious but i was once told "God will look out for you and yours, and he will bless you and help you find happiness through the hard times, and through the holidays." A parent should never out live their children, but my condolences, my dear friend. RIP Maggy, and RIP Mom, we miss you.

Dude i am sorry to hear that man :(
RIP those lost before their time. You're never forgotten.
The POWER in his voice is absolutely incredible!
THIS SONG GOES OUT TO OUR FALLEN BROTHERS AND SISTERS THIS WEEK IN KABUL...I pray for the families. I pray for our country 🙏
R.I.P Uncle. love you. you were awesome and a great big sweetheart. Heaven gained another angel tonight.
A very dear friend of mine lost her 6 month old little baby boy to SIDS in June 2019... This song immediately hit me and brings me to tears every time I hear it... He was a perfect little innocent boy taken way too early... Thank you Sevendust for a song that speaks to so many in so many ways... God Bless you all...
Lost my mom when I was 12, almost lost my sister shortly after that. And lately the greats are dropping like flies... Static, Bowie, Lemmy, and that's on top of the last wave, The Rev, Paul Gray... I guess when you're a bright star and you burn hot, you have no choice but to burn fast. RIP.
Haven't listened to this in a while. The tears won't stop. I listened to this after my mom died 20 years ago. I thank Sevendust for this amazing tribute. This beautiful song has touched so many hurting people.
I watch this video once a year, every year on my daughter's birthday. She wouldnhavr been 9 today. She fought for 16 days. She didn't give up. Daddy loves you
I was watching a reddit video on bad songs to play at a funeral. But they were still somehow good. Spent a lot of time trying to find a good song I'd want played for my funeral. This is that song.
Such a powerful song that never gets old. This gives me the chills everytime.
This one is for you Papito, 17 years ago I lost you to Cancer it feels like it was yesterday..... you live now in my son, my daughters, your soul your essence is here, I’ll miss you for the rest of my days. Rest In Peace Daddy.
This song reminds me of my son I lost in 2013.I love you son.R.I.P. Jackson Elijah Trevon Williams.
Amazing vocals
One last song... As you come to terms within your last moments of life, remember that the life you lived defines the person you became, make it worth your life.... Given to an Angels son.
I died twice on the operating table during a routine hernia surgery. Trust me. No surgery is routine. My girlfriend wasn’t there that day. She was coming later to pick me up. I heard my fathers voice. He died 6 months earlier in the same hospital. He told me I’m not supposed to be here. I suddenly woke up covered in ice packs on. A gurney. I told my girlfriend what happened and from that point on this became our song. The girl in the video is her.
this is the song that comes on in my head when i'm missing my brother. miss you matt, wish you were here still, you've missed so much man!
makes me cry everytime. dedicate it to my mom.

I just stumbled across this song and it brought back so many memories. this song got me through the loss of my grandma all those years ago. I dedicate this song to all the love ones I've lost over the years who I pray now are in a better place free from pain and worry. I love you my angels.
This is my younger brother's song.. RIP Pete Esch.. I think of you everyday and I'll ALWAYS love you.💖 😢😢😭😭

I remember when that song came out, it was rather close to the time my sister and our "2nd mother" died. She couldn't deal with loosing her that well and the stress of being a perfect teenager got to her, I still dedicate this song to her, I named my daughter after her because of her memory. I still miss her after all these years, yet the lyrics just speak perfectly to me in what I wish I could tell her to this day.
This song gives me goosebumps every single time. The ending of the video rips bandages on my heart
Damn... these comments are striking me right in the feels. Just know that those who have left us, that you love so much, felt the same way about you. Maintain their memory through remembrance.
This song and video was made in memory of Lynn Strait, the former lead singer of the band "Snot" ... He and Lajon Witherspoon of Sevendust were like brothers He passed away on the way to the studio to record his bands second album, was hit by a drunk driver
Lost my uncle at the end of February. He was a former Marine, really encouraged me to work hard.
My best friend Chris Hogue passed away due to a motor vehicle accident 8 years ago. Before Chris had his accident, I had lost my driver's license, broke up with my girlfriend Crystal who I'd been living with, and moved back home with my parents. It wasn't a very good time in my life, obviously. But Chris had finally gotten his license and he made sure he came and picked me up anytime I wanted to go out and even sometimes when I didn't want to lol... He was there for me at one of my lowest times, and I'll always be thankful for that. I had turned him on to Sevendust during that time, and left this CD in the Jeep he was driving after one night of partying together. The next time he picked me up he was telling me how much he'd been listening to it and how much he liked this song in particular, cause it reminded him of his "momma" 😊. I know this CD was in the stereo when he had his accident and I like to think this song was playing.. R.I.P Chris Hogue and thank you Sevendust for creating such a beautiful song. I wish I could let yall know how much it has meant to me over the years
My Uncle Mike, who was like a second Father to me, was in a coma just waiting to Pass. I left the hospital and this song played on the radio...Brought me to tears. 20+ years later, and it still makes me cry. "One Last song.....Given to an Angels son" "I Can't Believe your Gone!" Still gives me tears!
Very Under Rated song..
For my grandmother who is sick right now.

You know, as a grown man, every time I hear this song, it makes me cry. Such a sad song.
definitely the most underrated band. They put a lot of heart into this song!!
Cant stop hitting the replay, cant stop crying, this song is what music is all about, leaving a piece of yourself in every song you write
This song is a testament to how amazing rock music is, how many emotions it can touch in such a profound way, and how fantastic Sevendust is. Unbelievable that this song came out so long ago - it is timeless. Thank you for this!
One of the most underrated songs of all time and one of the best.
Lost a good friend he was a like a brother to me

The 23rd Of Nov is a hard day for me. Three years ago I lost one of my childhood friends. He had a rare blood disease called Acute Intermittent Porphyria. It causes severe bodily pain. Doctors didn’t know what it was for years. Three months before he passed they figured it out. He was weeks away from treatment. I miss you Johnny. The Bad Rap Crew will carry your name up high.
The first time I heard this song I was in Mosul, Iraq. They came and put on a show for us. He told us the story behind the song and opened up to the crowd a bit. It was a beautiful moment. We all threw our name tags from our uniforms onto the stage lol. I was 20 at the time and had been there awhile at this point. The morale they provided was priceless.
