Super impressive! I'm surprised this is counted manually live by someone tapping on a device. It seems so fast this would be prone to error. Do they review afterwards with video to ratify records?

Thank you! To answer your question: A speed jump is every time the right leg hits the ground, so only half the actual jumps get counted - but it still happens that a judge counts incorrectly. For this matter, they’re 3 judges at each field, and the final score is the average from these 3 judges’ scores. If a judge is off by more than 3 speed jumps from the other two judges, that judge’s score will get scrapped. As part of the new rules, there’re cameras at all speed fields, where - in specific cases - the heat will be recounted in slow motion to make sure the scores and competition placements are correct. This was tested for the first time at this year’s World Championships, which was a big success.
