I never get people wanting to give Gregg his flowers for “getting us to the World Cup”. He tied for third in freaking CONCACAF and advanced on goal differential. 1 road win and we were down at half in that one. With all due respect to Jimmy - went toe to toe with the Netherlands? They got dog walked.

I think the England game was his best performance if you want to give credit. In Wales we had Zimmerman give away a pointless penalty which allowed them to get Bale a clear chance to score. He had that as a common problem with players making these poor decisions that punish the rest of the team. We need a manager who will get players in line.

Why must there always be one "McBride" type of character on this show now? Is it for entertainment value? Feels like that Southgate comment was merely to make people comment and raise viewrship, but it also turns a lot of people away from watching!

I’m disappointed in Chuck and Tony the way this pod stared. Defending Greg is a losing battle. If Crocker hires any MLS coach other than Wilford there will be a revolt again against the sponsors and USSF. The fans will revolt. We’ve had enough. @@trentmelton3069credit for regressing The only reason this team is where its at is because of the quality of players themselves and not because of Gregg. In fact it has always been the players to bail him out when he fumbles tactics or games. A squirrel would have been able to achieve what Gregg has done if not more so, because even a squirrel probably would have retired the mls lifers way sooner, and our players would have been way more developed in that time if they were given alot more playing time sooner.

Gregg Berhalter should never have been hired in the first place. Some people want to credit him for bringing the team together, but look at the results! Two players got red cards for hitting other players. When has this ever happened before? Why does he play Renya so far back, and why can't he change a game with tactics for substitutions? Matt Betty Crocker should also be on the hot seat because if he doesn't get this new hire right, he has to go, too. Crocker had to admit he was wrong for bringing Berthalter back, unlike Berhalter, who constantly blamed the players. USSF needs to make better decisions and break up this nepotism even more.

As an American living in Germany I fell in love with the game early on and I got to know the ins and outs of the football/soccer world. I think I know a thing or two about the game and have always been following the USMNT (my highlights were the 2002 WC and the 2009 Confed Cup). With that being said I think it was DEFINITELY the right move to let go of Berhalter though I do believe it should’ve happened earlier. We should NOT thank him for qualifying for the 2022 WC. Giving the opponents in CONCACAF that’s the bare minimum, sorry to say. With all the money being dumped into US Soccer and looking at our players’ market value compared to most other CONCACAF nations, qualifying should be mandatory. This ain’t the 90’s anymore and this shouldn’t be our standard. I do want to thank him for the 2022 WC performance e. g. outplaying England and having the guts to nominate Haji. Now to the part why I was never a Berhalter fan: Whay Claudio (Reyna) and his wife did was wrong, yes. But, what lead up to this? How can you tell a Gio Reyna - who actually got playing time with BVB - he would not be playing a role in this WC BEFORE the WC had even started? Get to training and THEN make the decision. How does Gio now get to start every Copa game with even less minutes played at Nottingham? We received a red card vs Panama yes, but why sub in a defender for a midfielder? We lost an attacker, no need for subs. It was 1-1 at half, without Weah the chances of scoring are not as high, clearly. But we still have a better midfield to control the pace of the game and all defenders. There was NO reason to take a midfielder out - to let Panama take control of the ball and the game - and to park the bus with 5 defenders. How can a MNT coach make such a crucial tactical mistake? Giving the teams potential they highly underperformed and if the players can’t display a winners’ attitude, the coach ain’t doing his job.

Lalas, Keller, these guys here all running interference for obvious and clear mediocrity is not helping the sport either. Embarrassing. They should convene the players council and ask them who they want, and who they'd tolerate. The right guy will be the manager the players don't all want to get the job. Paul Tenorio's takes are absolute nonsense. It's shocking that someone who understands so little about the game is one of the chief media voices for USSF. Is this really the best our journalism gets? Honestly, even his good takes are terrible, because they are coming from the wrong place. For example, it's a popular take to suggest that players on the national team need to be "playing consistently" for their club teams. Theoretically, that isn't a bad opinion, however, that is often coded language used by MLS shills, and it's often used to defend a take like, "Yunus Musah is not playing (only getting 10-15 minutes per game) at Milan, but Aiden Morris is having an MLS best XI type of a season." Also, GARETH SOUTHGATE?!?! He's the English version of Gregg!! Look at those English rosters! I have never seen a coach do less with more! If we talk about fan pressure playing a role in the Berhalter firing, I promise you, it won't be better if you hire Southgate, or if you settle for another inexperienced MLS coach like Cherundolo. For me, obviously, Klopp is the ideal choice, but if we can't get him, I would call Pochettino and Joachim Low next. Other good names would be Herve Renard, Pellegrino Matarazzo, and heck, maybe take a swing at a guy like Mourinho.

I remeber these same people discussing players vs coaching, the say "better players" when presentred a coahes name. So is it players or coaching? If it is playersthen ours aren't good enough, right? If it is coaching should we care which players are on the field/pitch?

Gareth Southgate 😂😂😂. Even if the usmnt wanted him, england won't fire him since they're in the euro finals

I don’t care about how “beautiful” the soccer is, I care that the coach is able to adapt tactically to the players in the player pool. Berhalter/Southgate have not/cannot do that.

As a German I can tell you Jogi Löw wouldn’t be the right manager for you, yeah he won the world cup 2014 but his decisions made us loose the euro 2012 semifinal and they should have won a lot more in his time than just one world cup with that kind of players. Same goes with Southgate, i think Berhalter wouldn’t be less successful if he had the same players. You need someone who makes your team and players better and not someone who keeps them away from their potential

Names like Southgate and Cherundolo are being circulated because they are more likely to fall in line. A manager with enough clout to challenge the players will also gave enough clout to challenge the federation.
