If they could design it to use all cores in our processors that would be great. That is the biggest draw back of current sims, although X Plane seems to do better with core usage. Fsx steam has one core running at 100% while the others are running about 20% Any comments on this?

I refuse to be dependent on the cloud. I want to be able to play and use my software even if I am totally disconnected from the Internet. Local disc storage is incredibly cheap. My latest PC has an Intel M.2 boot SSD, but the data drive, where I install games, is 3 TB WD Black drive, and the backup drive is 4 TB. Cost of disc storage is trivial now.

Someone else has mentioned steam and yes, FSX for steam on the old system was meant to have improved the original, but will the new FSX 2020 also have a steam edition? I have spent money on active sky for steam, which only works with steam (already feel cheated because they haven't updated it to the latest version.) This could Doofer very well be a bone of contention!

My personal theory: 1. It will be a Microsoft Store Exclusive 2. It will be subscription based (free with gamepass possible but not forever) 3. Microsoft is working with 3rd party Devs like PMDG and Aerosoft to add scenery and aircraft but all DLC will be available exclusively through Microsoft's store. 4. Old P3D and FSX add-ons will not work with the new sim, it is all new code and will require legacy add ons to be totally rebuilt, to the extent that they will be new products entirely. 5. The user interface will be much more like Microsoft Flight, than FSX or P3D, as it will need to work easily with gamepads for Xbox users and casual PC gamers.

I think Microsoft will give users the option of automating most onboard aircraft features (specifically for users who have no knowledge of aircraft systems). Things like flaps and gear would deploy based on speed and lights would automate based on conditions. Yep, probably gonna be a subscription; addressing that one reply I got. countryflyboy over there was almost clueless, and I indicated that on the channel. Microsoft doesn't care about anyone or anyone's criticism or concern's if they just want to play. They see a new market opening up, and they want to seize it. PD3 sales are increasing; X-Plane sales are decreasing. As I said, It will have the LOOK AND FEAL OF PD3. Period. It's the only thing that makes sense and makes money for Microsoft - making it possible for them to 'spy on us' even easier.

Interesting perspective, P3D is built as a training platform and for use by people that know what they're doing. The fact that this will be released on Xbox as well practically guarantees this will be nothing like P3D. This will be much more accessible, simple UI, lots of built in assistance to minimise the challenge of flying (which can be turned off in the settings if you're an experienced pilot). Think Microsoft Flight, the last product they made which sadly failed but was usable with a gamepad and accessible to people who have never flown a digital aircraft before. You're 100% right about subscription based access, it makes sense for them as they can rollout new regions and new airports and new cities and new aircraft to make people feel like they're getting value for money. Just my opinion and mean no disrespect. Peace

@@WayneHermanproject I had the same trouble with FSX, the issue it has that means even 12 years after release is that it still won't run smoothly on PC's that are now much more powerful than they were back then. This is because it was only designed to use one CPU core and can't even use more than 4GB of RAM. As a result, if you run a weather add-on, an aircraft add-on and a scenery add-on like Chicago all at once the software can hardly take it even on a $2000 PC. Hopefully the new flight sim will be able to use up to 12 or more CPU cores and at least 32GB of RAM supported so we can load up plenty of scenery and weather and still enjoy a playable frame rate. As for the Xbox, I'd suggest waiting a year, as it's possible the new flight simulator will release on the NEXT Xbox, not the Xbox one that is currently available, possibly as a launch title.

I have little to no confidence in what they might do. Their last effort, "Micosoft Flight" was a complete disaster which they quickly recognized and abandoned. And you might remember virtually everyone knew it would be. Then all the others have poured millions of dollars and tens of thousands of hours into FS improvements. What do they possibly think they can add to this community at this point. I just don't see any sense to this move. When I worked, when we screwed up we totally destroyed all the evidence (literally cut up and scrapped) because we knew some idiot would resurrect the disaster once again if we didn't. MS might want to take a lesson from that. The only thing they could possibly do is totally start over with VR in mind. Now that would have some value.

REX is one. Notice the title "Environmental Force 3D" is currently not available for FSX, BUT is for Prepar3D. Why would it be "An Issue" with tell the FSX community that "They know we (the community) have concerns"? Microsoft is telling the community flat-out here - that WE HEARD you, and now (MS) will serve-up. Microsoft isn't being vague. They're being quite specific in terms. If a word is emphasized in all caps - the highest emphasis possible without adding distracting unprofessionalism, and gaudy exclamation point(s), it means what all caps mean. It's going to have the look and feel of P3D. This video just wasted my time. As did the previous one
