The scariest part of this ride isn’t even the height; it’s having to stare at what you’re about to go through while you wait to launch. That and the launch itself.
There is just no way to describe that initial launch. I have never experienced a launch that powerful on any roller coaster, plane ride etc. The Gs are so strong that I remember I tried screaming but it felt like someone was pushing my chest and everyone else got quiet too until you reach the top and take a breath and then everyone screams again when it goes back down. What an adrenaline rush. You really don’t understand how big it is until you get there and see it for yourself

As someone who loves all kinds of rides, this one is a special one. It feels like you are launched to space and experience 0G for few sec and shoot down. You barely have time to comprehend what just happened, which is why you get addicted. It is very very unique
FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE AFRAID OF THIS COASTER: it’s not that scary. In fact, when I rode it yesterday during a school trip, I didn’t even scream once. And this is coming from a person who usually rides kiddie coasters. The launch is the only scary part, and the drop was surprisingly underwhelming. yeah, can't wait to go once hopefully me and my mom are huge roller coaster fanatics.
Rollercoaster enthusiast here: It's worth a ride if you want the experience of the tallest roller coaster in the world. However, on its own it's not a great ride. The wait is likely going to be extremely long since this thing breaks all the time. The ride is uncomfortable even for someone who loves rough, thrill rides. You will likely get off with a headache from the rapid change in pressure you experience in the ascent. There are enough G's to make some people pass out. Ride it once for the experience if you are good with intense rides. It'll be fun enough. Generally not worth the wait though.

@colorfulchameleon9891

@@kat9526 Honestly I'd just say start with less intense rides and work your way up. That works for the mental part, which is just getting used to it. Some rides that are really intense I don't think you really can get used to. Some rides are just hard on the human body and will give headaches or make you sick. IMO, those rides aren't usually worth it. I personally enjoy an experience with thrill, but without actually being unpleasant. A lot of rides advertising how intense they are (especially if they were designed during the coaster wars in the 2000s) are just bad rides. I know I've only encountered feeling physically unwell on a few rides, but I was scared of a ton of roller coasters in the past. If I was too scared, I'd go on something else in the meantime and if I was feeling brave after conquering that ride, I'd move on. It might be within one day you feel up to it, or it might be after multiple theme park trips. Just make sure you enjoy your time. It's not supposed to be a chore to work yourself up to intense rides, and anyone who judges that it usually just a snob lol.

This was the second roller coaster I'd ever ridden in my life. Well actually the third, but my first coaster was a pretty tame wooden one at a local park called Lakemont Park near my hometown called Syliner, if you could actually count that, and the second coaster I ever rode was Phantom's Revenge at Kennywood. For Kingda Ka, I was around 13 or 14 at the time. Went to so many parks with my older brother over the years but this was the second one ever at Great Adventure. We chose this ride to be our first there that day no matter what and so that's what we did. I used to be extremely scared of roller coasters back when I was younger too. I still had a bit of that fear before going to Great Adventure. I remember how crazy intimidating Kindga Ka looked while I was sitting on the track just looking at the massive 456 feet tall top-hat way down the stretch of launch track, and I was just waiting anxiously for the launch to initiate at any moment from then. I remember debating on bowing out from riding it due to nervousness too. So glad I never did though, because I am pretty sure it gave me my huge love for all roller coasters I now have today. It was like just ripping a band-aid off. Once I road Kingda Ka first, I knew nothing else could intimidate me, and I was hooked anyway. I ended up riding it about five more times in a row then, because we were extremely lucky to have been there a day where there was next to no wait for all the rides. Even got to come back through later and get several more rides in. I now go to parks all over the country as well as return trips to Great Adventure every couple years, and I'm a total coaster enthusiast now. The crazier the ride, the better. Long story short, this ride was the one that made me the thrill junkie I am today.

Also, I have been praying that El Toro gets back to operating again soon, and without any issues. It's definitely my absolute favorite wooden coaster ever. Great ride for a quick speed/drop thrill, but Nitro will always be my favorite ride in this park. Close your eyes leaving the gate, while u climb to the top, don't grab the handles and put your hands up in the air, and wait for your heart to drop into your stomach. When you do open your eyes, you're staring straight at the ground, and the rest of the ride is just so smooth and enjoyable, especially with hands up bc your body flows naturally instead of holding the seat and sort of fighting it. For an even bigger "oh shit" factor, try this in the front row AND the back row. Opening your eyes only once you start to drop, in the front, is absolutely insane.
Arms down, head back, hold on.
The delay before they launch your ass at the beginning was killing me!! I can only imagine the anticipation if I were actually on the ride!! Holy smokes that was insane!!!
This ride was insane. I know it’s over rated but, for real it’s amazing 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 I lovedddd it! Definitely my favvvvv
I think sometimes it doesn't even make it all the way up. You fall back down backwards and they have to try again. Nope.

It does happen and it is completely normal. Nothing bad happens if it falls down backwards.

@@epicdudepersonman99 yea a roll back…they have signs that warn you about them lol
Most people fear the top and what happens after that. At least you go forward, there is no error. I wasn't afraid of the top. In fact, it was the opposite. My fear every single time was that there wouldn't be enough forward speed to reach the top and continue to the other side, and we would slide violently backwards with tremendous force and speed!!! This fear would still be with me today.

that's called a rollback and its 100% safe
This ride was crazzzyy!!!! Your balling straight forward for like a quater mile then it shoots up the sky and you know if your gonna make it lol
When you get at the very top, you will question your life decisions.
I was in Six Flags NJ a week ago. That was my first time I’ve been to a theme park although I’m 19 years old. (That means I had never sat on a rollercoaster before😅😂) My first ever rollercoaster ride took place on El Toro. Aaaand I passed out….😅 But I didn’t give up. So from El Toro we went straight to Kingda Ka. OMG that was AWESOME. And the funniest thing is that I didn’t pass out on that! I think I will remember on that 1 minute 30 seconds in my entire life
