Description: Charlotte, North Carolina - On February 8, 2024, at approximately 10:47 a.m., Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Officers responded to an armed subject call for service in the 2100 block of Beatties Ford Road. This area was being actively monitored by surveillance cameras used by CMPD’s Real Time Crime Center (RTCC) as part of the department’s crime reduction initiatives. During this time, members of the RTCC observed a male subject on the video surveillance remove a firearm, which had been concealed within the waistband of his clothing and manipulate the firearm before further concealing it back into his clothing. RTCC notified officers of the armed subject prior to their arrival on scene. Upon arrival, officers exited their patrol vehicles and observed what appeared to be a drug transaction between the armed subject, 33-year-old Timothy Deangelo Moore, and another individual in the parking lot of the 2100 block of Beatties Ford. As officers approached, Moore, who is known to Metro Division officers, fled the area on foot. Officers issued multiple verbal commands for Moore to show his hands. During the short foot pursuit, the Moore retrieved a firearm from his waistband and turned his body in the direction of the officer. The officer perceived an imminent and lethal threat and fired a single shot at Moore, causing him to fall to the ground. Officers quickly placed Moore into custody, recovered the firearm and began to render medical aid. The Charlotte Fire Department and MEDIC responded to the scene. MEDIC transported Moore to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No officers were injured in this incident. Upon Moore’s release from the hospital, he was transferred into the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office and charged with the following: Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Resisting a Public Officer and Carrying a Concealed Weapon. Moore has since been released from the Mecklenburg County Jail.

On 2/8/2024 I, Officer T. Owen (P5482) was on routine patrol in the 1 response area of the Metro patrol Division. On this date I was in full police uniform and operating a CMPD marked police vehicle. While observing a city-maintained camera system showing Catherine Simmons Avenue and the PVA of 2120 Beatties Ford Road I observed a black male in the PVA I know from previous law enforcement interactions to be Timothy DeAngelo Moore DOB 11/24/1990 (suspect) who is a convicted felon standing in the PVA of 2120 Beatties Ford Road near the driver side of a gray in color Ford Explorer speaking with driver. While speaking with the driver of the vehicle I observed Moore pull out a pistol from his waistband and raise it into the air in a taunting manner and then quickly conceal the pistol into the right front side of his waistband. After observing this I maintained constant visual on Moore on camera, who walked through the PVA briefly towards Catherine Simmons Avenue., I notified Officer Mohrman of my observation who then responded to the area while I watched Moore on camera. Officer Mohrman and Atwood who were in full police uniform operating marked police vehicles arrived and on camera appeared to attempt to contact Moore who continued to walk away from them. While following Moore through the PVA Moore began to run from officers while clutching his waistband near where the firearm had been seen concealed during which officers gave loud verbal commands. Moore was seen on camera grabbing his waistband in a manner consistent with presenting a fire firearm and then fell to the ground. Moore was taken into custody and a Hi-Point .380 caliber handgun Serial # XXXXXXX was located on scene. Moore was transported to Atrium main receiving treatment from injuries sustained during this incident. Previous felony conviction for Timothy Moore: Offense date 01/22/2012 Breaking and Entering (felony) Class H Felony Min/Max 4 to 25 months Conviction 07/06/2012 Gaston County Superior Court Trial by Judge Guilty Plea Sentence 6 to 17 months Active
