1982, traveling to basic training, a recruit said "I have a nuke up my nose" to TSA or whatever they were called back then. It did not go well. They beat his ass and called the authorities. The other gentleman and I that were in charge of the recruits spent almost 2 hours speaking with constables in order to secure this assholes release so he could make it to basic then next AM. He was a dick. Don't be a dick and bullshit anyone who can beat your ass or arrest you. They will gladly do so. Have a great day. Enjoy!

The proper way to handle a traffic stop regardless. lnform the officer of any movement prior. Move slowly / not suddenly. Do not change your tone, and remain calm. lf the officer asks you for license, registry, insurance prior to giving you a reason - dont take it as insult. Ask the officer, ''may l move to get them?'' And after that answer, while getting them, ask ''officer what is the nature of the stop please?'' He should tell you, and if he says l will tell you after be patient. lf it hasnt been told in a minute or so, ask politely again to remind. One remark here about the video, you dont need to say the things about the container firearms in your vehicle. lts not necessary, useful, or recommended. He can look through the window and see something, sure but cant do anything about it. lf he tries and asks, what are those cases? The proper answers are, ''officer no questions please, continue with traffic stop'' and ''officer, you do not have consent to perform any searches, please respect my rights''

I have been in a similar situation. The officer asked for my registration and I told him it was in the glove box and that there was a loaded firearm in that glove box. He was very courteous and appreciative. I slowly retrieved my registration and he sent me on my way. Had I not behaved in that manner the story may not have had a happy ending

Last winter I was out taking astrophotos with my telescope on the side of a country road near my house. I have a Florida concealed carry license and, as usual when I'm out alone at night, I carry a firearm. Someone called the police after they saw me parked for several hours and two county sheriffs stopped by to make sure I wasn't burying a body🙂or selling drugs out of the back of my pickup. I explained what I was doing and they asked if I had any ID. I handed over my driver's license and CCL. They were completely cool about the whole thing, especially after I started showing them all of my telescope equipment and explained about the nebula I was photographing.

Me: " hey officer i want you to know i have a gun on me" Officer: "thanks for your honesty, you still getting a ticket tho" Me: no problem *slowly reaches for gun*

I cant imagine the anxiety having a gun on you when you get pulled over a cop, it only take 1 wrong move from being a swiss cheese

I tried this at a day care center just before asking for my child. They were so impressed with my honesty that I got a free ride in a cool car with flashing lights. The drivers were to impressed with my honesty that they put me in another room where I saw 2 funny looking guys argue with each other to convince some third dude. Finally I got let out and my child was waiting. What a weird system for a daycare. It took several months before i was able to successfully pick up my child

*I usually get anxiety attacks when I get pulled over by a cop so I don't stop until there are at least 8-10 cops behind me.Finally it doesnt get awkward*

Terrific video. I viewed a video here on KZread just prior to yours where the lady had a concealed weapon, didn't tell the officer, was an argumentative "sovereign citizen," without a valid driver's license, plates or registration. That one didn't quite have the same outcome as your polite and law-abiding, law-knowledgeable traffic stop. Thank-you for posting it!

About 12 years ago I took my 8 year old son for a ride on my Harley. We got stopped at a motorcycle checkpoint and as I handed my license to the state trooper I also handed her my pistol permit and told her I had a handgun. Before I could say another thing she screamed gun!, I found myself faceplanted with a boot on my neck, several pistols pointed at me and I was cuffed. My son was crying then and begging the cops not to shoot me. They took my gun and my permit and ran the serial number to make sure it was not stolen. I was picked up from the pavement, uncuffed handed my pistol back and told to go on my way. I no longer volunteer that information if I don't have to.

This is good advice. Quickly reach for the gun to let him know that you have a weapon and fire all the bullets up in the air to let the officer that you are not a threat to anybody. Then quickly get out of the vehicle and sprint towards the officer to let him know that you are not concealing any more weapons :) great advice. My apartment's wierd.

Unless traveling in a state requiring disclosure, I would never voluntarily reveal possession of a weapon. Just asking for the officer to open the door and tell you to get out onto the ground face first.

On the other hand, the absolute WORST way to do it is to just say "I have a gun". Had a friend do that while we were in the car and suddenly we had 2 officers pointing their sidearms at us lol

My instructor always said the worse thing to do is say, “Yes, I have it right here. See?” while pulling it out and pointing it at them. You shoot at us, it’s only fair we get to shoot back. His stories were hilarious but it made me remember what not to do.

man, I remember my first days in USA after moving out from Italy. The first time I got pullover i just went for my IDs ang registration and I saw the officer getting startled. I immediately raised my hands and I was like "WHAT? WHAT?". Officer ordered me put my hand on the steering wheel and to listen his order. As soon as he saw my passport he asked me if I'm tourist. "Oh no sir, I'm fresh-off-the-boat" then he took some time to explain me how to handle a pullover. I'm in Italy again for job and I got pulledover by highway patrol. I did everything like I'm used to do in the USA and officer asked me "why are you taking so long? are you waiting an invitation? grab your wallet, quick!"

@@billwarrick1475 it depends on the location or state, refer to Handgunlaw.us . Some officers must be notified others may not. Or if a sworn LE officer asks you to produce a gun, CCW license you must comply. That's a 👮🏻‍♂️ safety issue.

I have only had 2 cops I had trouble with. The first one was on a power trip and was supposed to be super cop and decided he could cross into Colorado from Oklahoma to fight me. He got beat up, fired, and lost his license. The other cop was scared of me I never did anything to intimidate him. I saw him at Walmart I was just making small talk he whipped out his taser "you stepped towards me!". The other cops came out he told them he pointed a taser at me because he can taser big huge bodybuilders automatic. The chief came out and told him the other officers have never had any trouble with me I have always been polite with them. They ended up having to let him go.

A gun is like a pack of gum when you pull it out. Everyone wants to be your friend.

I got pulled over by an Arkansas DOT in my commercial Dodge 3500. I informed him I was armed when he walked up. He said, "Don't pull yours and I won't pull mine." I told him, "You got a deal!"

Here is a great example of how NOT to have a bad interaction with Police. Nice job man.

715 Tactical is it true that some states don’t require you to tell the officer that you have a concealed firearm? My mother has a pistol in her glovebox and the officer didn’t ask if there were any weapons in the car so do you have to tell them?

Tip something I also did at military check points. And till this day do when pulled over to reduce anxiety of officers is, I lower all windows so they have clear view into back seat. If at night I turn on cabin light and lower all windows. This way they don’t have to worry about a gunman sitting in back

I was pulled over and live in a state where there is no duty to inform. I do not inform them, too many corrupt cops in the area and you never know who you're dealing with (they literally just finished a case where the entire department was caught stealing over 100,000 from citizens while performing searches.) If the officer paid any attention attention he should have that info come up but he didn't notice of course.

Cop: do you have any weapons Me: noo 6ix9ine in the back yes he does

My instructor in the CCP class was a retired Police officer. He recommended the best way to broch the subject was to simply show the officer your permit with your driver's license. Great Idea! Much better than blurting out "I HAVE A GUN"! Helps prevent you getting shot.

I have my permit and license ready before I stop. I just put my ccw permit on top of my operator’s license. Here in rural NC, officers expect to encounter ccw holders on the daily. My experience has been the fact I’m a ccw holder puts the officer at ease. Statistically speaking, ccw holders are among the most law abiding individuals in the nation.

Guy: Officer I'm carrying a loaded handgun Officer: Thanks for your honesty here is your ticket. Guy: How about a duel to settle this?

I've been pulled over for speeding quite a few times. Easiest way is to have your license and CCW permit out of your wallet and in your hand prior to them getting to your window. Hand them both at the same time. Usually they will look at them and see your CCW and you can avoid saying that you are armed until they ask. In states where its law to notify the police you have made that more comfortable. If they ask you prior to taking your license from you this then its already in your hand and you don't have to reach for anything.

Nearly identical thing happened to me. Honesty = comfort = no ticket.

"I'm going to move slowly" Proceeds to move at normal speed

Especially when you told him about your concealed carry. I'll get my ID and registration amd stuff and that's it. If I'm ever asked to step out of the vehicle and I'm carrying a firearm at that point I'll disclose that information . If they ask what I have in the vehicle after I'm removed then I'll disclose anything extra .

If you wait to tell an officer about 4 guns in your trunk then he’s gonna think you’re waiting to tell more things. Just explain what you got instantly so there’s no skepticism. Much more of a chance to be a no reason lengthy stop if you just keep things like that silent until they come up. They don’t wanna be asking you questions n stuff, make it easy for them and quick for you.

As a male, I tell the officer about my concealed firearm. When they ask for me to show the weapon, I reach down slowly to reveal it to them. I get arrested for indecent exposure.

When the officer walks up to me, I'll usually discharge everything in the firearm into their vest in order to achieve mainly 2 things, *1. It let's the officer know I'm carrying a real firearm and I am empty now, 2. It tests the effectiveness and functionality of the vest so they know whether they have a solid one or not.* _This combined increases my helpfulness and kindness as a citizen._

Being upfront is how misunderstanding is avoided.

I haven't been pulled over in a few years but I also always drive with a dash cam. Last time I was pulled over he asked first thing if there were weapons in the vehicle. I responded no and there weren't, had my hands right on the wheel. Next thing he asked was if I knew why he pulled me over. I responded no as I wasn't aware of anything and thought maybe I had a light out. He responded that he clocked me speeding, and I told him it was impossible as I had the cruise control on. I also pointed to my dash cam and said it records everything, and would be happy to run it back for him. He said it wouldn't be necessary but thought maybe I should get my speedometer checked. Checked it on a radar controlled speed limit sign and it was within 2 MPH. Like this video says be upfront with them, don't think the cop in my case saw the dash cam. FLY NAVY!!!
