Office Space is just the alternate reality where Neo never learned about The Matrix

they reprogrammed the red pill to be a red stapler. it backfired (literally: the guy who used it woke up and realized he had to defy authority by blowing up the building to save himself before Neo and Trinity did it to save Morpheus).

One of the most relatable lines in the whole movie. I've actually quit several jobs without actually quitting. "I don't like it. I think I'm just gonna stop going". Some call me irresponsible, but I call it "prioritizing precious time".
@misterspaceman9563

@@veggiesaremurder same. I've walked off jobs on the first day because I decided that it just isn't for me. But I'm also an incredibly hard worker. I just have to care about what I'm doing. I'm not lazy, I'm just not willing to invest labor into something I consider a waste of my time. Give me some part of the job that's exciting or interesting and I will be your best worker you've ever had. Caveat: obviously this is assuming that I don't desperately need the job for food/rent/whatever
This movie changed my life.. I was a programmer in San Jose, CA.. it led me to quit my job and remodel houses and then buy rental properties.. I did better than if I stayed in tech and funny enough. Like the lead character, my name is also Peter.. Everyone who worked on this movie should get a frickin gold medal as far as I am concerned.. Thank you Ron Livingston!

I get your guys point, but in all fairness they are underrated. They didn't blow out any box office numbers or records. They became more appreciated over time, but when comparing how they stack rank to other "big box office hits" in terms of widespread critical acclaim and mass reception, they have both flown under the radar when considering Mike Judge's level of genius.

His performance is a historical reflection of the era the movie was set in. He is a legend. Office Space will continue to transcend the ages.
Lawrence was one of the best things in this movie. He represented the blue collar community perfectly. (20 years in industrial maintenance. Good job that requires you to be a jack of all trades, gives a degree of autonomy, using your head to fix problems, and allows you to learn everyday.) I couldn't imagine being stuck in a cubicle with a niche task. And yes, we're all a lot like Lawrence. Sadly there's getting to be a severe shortage of skilled labor as many schools don't offer shop classes and working with your hands seems to have gotten a bad stigma.

Mike Judge really is one of the most under appreciated comedic geniuses of our time. It's amazing how much great stuff he has done - Beavis and Butthead of course, but so there are so many more: Milton, King of the Hill, Office Space, Idiocracy, Silicon Valley...
“We, as humans, are not meant to sit behind a computer screen all day.” So true...
What got me was his boss. I've had that same guy for a boss. That man does exist in the real world.

This is so relatable. As someone else said, this is more of a documentary that captures the pain and humor of life working at an office. Truly no other movie identifies so much to many as this one does. It has to be one of my all-time favorite movies, higher than Idiocracy.

It's the film simply everyone who ever had a dull office job *must* have seen. It also started off the trend of office-related comedy shows and films. The Office, which was also a great show in its own way, premiered two years later, and while the style of comedy was of course very different, the influence is obvious. And in one of the early episodes of The Office they even mention a Mr Gibbons - coincidence? I think not.
The one film that everyone can relate to

There’s a hilarious cut scene where he says something like, “His rare Live In Tokyo record he released a couple months ago... I snagged it.” He follows up the line with his iconic hissing laugh. Just the fact that both of them are named Bob is so brilliant because that’s exactly the kind of crap that happens in the corporate world.
It's a rare movie where so many new faces deliver roles of a lifetime. The relative lack of stars make it far easier to inhabit the world of the characters. A classic.
My favorite thing Ron Livingston ever did outside of Office Space was play Cpt Lewis Nixon in Band Of Brothers. He was brilliant.

By "off set", do you mean "non black cast/produced" or "hood/urban" movie? Because I can name 10 films that had an all hip-hop/rap soundtrack made before this. However, none of them featured a mainly white production and cast.... I'm not trying to start a race thing here, but... yeah, there were a LOT of films made early-mid nineties that had an all hip-hop sundtrack. sorry, you just don't know how great you have had it. Yes, I made probably a little more (at times, maybe) than you might have. But, damned, I sold my soul. And, we had to spend more on entertainment, parking ($100/week per car, so $200/w wife & I), vehicle expenses, expensive clothes, more gas, etc., just to keep everything going. We even had to pay a therapist, babysitters, etc. Not worth that type of life, is what I've learned now -- as I've got older. If I could only go back and live your life, I sure would.
The scene I relate to the most is the very beginning when he hesitates to open the door because he knows he's gonna get shocked
Now he’s 50... looks the same. Not fair 😂
The funny thing about this is - Office Space actually gave Michael Bolton's career a bit of a boost. He wasn't very much in the public eye prior, and after this he actually got a resurgence of album sales. And now he's doing comedy making fun of himself, so he should actually thank you guys for that running Michael Bolton gag :)

One of my all-time favorites. The reason it bombed at the box office is because it was so poorly marketed. Introducing it as having come "from the creators of Beavis and Butthead" was a baffling idea because this movie wasn't geared towards the 1990s teenage MTV audience at all.
