Brooooo, those remotes that you wrap with plastic is such a common thing here in the Philippines, i also dont know the reason why they specifically do it, but my great grand father and my father does that on all our remotes. Also buying universal remotes isn't a thing in our household, once it gets lost you'll forever have to change the channel and volume manualy, until you find the remote. (Because they believed that eventually someone will find the remote within the house, usually takes a few days/weeks).
