Off-Road Hot Rod, Done!
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
UPDATE: The ebay auction has ended, and this buggy should be going to a new home soon.
Last time I took this buggy out I realized that the high RPM engine and old, stiff tires did not work. In this video I change out the tires and the engine. I also add a hood over the engine, so it doesn't get filled with water when it rains. Now its works almost like a normal vehicle!
That brings up the problem. This was built as a water pumper buggy at least 50 years ago, so it's a bit of automotive history. So far I've just added to what was there to make it work. Now I'm having thoughts of long travel suspension and other major modifications. I don't think that changing history is right, so I can't own this anymore because I won't be able to leave it alone. It needs a new home!

Years ago, a stranded motorist stopped in front of my house late at night with an overheating problem. I made a thermostat gasket out of an old paper milk carton, used 2 layers, and worked fine, and they made it back to Ohio.

Milk carton gaskets work really well. Trinidad Co. To ABQ. N.M. no leaks on water pump of old Oldsmobile
I would have been rooting for Low-Buck Garage over Finnegan. This thing is cool.

Thing is Finnegan is a nice guy and has always been a fan of people that do this sorta thing, it's really the race commentator that was being a real dick but i wouldn't blame Finnegan for that.
I'd LOVE to make this street legal. Looks like a fun little summer driver.
The makers of the spray paint. Should be 1 of your sponsors. Because you do use a lot of rattle cans. lol Great Videos to watch.
I'm glad someone else also uses the term "Precision Eye-crometer"

How hasn't this channel popped off to a million subs yet? It's coming. Once you hit somebody's feed any they shout you out-- you're gunna be huger than huge. Best videos.

Yeah, it fast became one of my top 5 on YT.
Low-Buck Garage is literally a mixture of Vice Grip Garage and Mustie1. Keep up the good work Low-Buck

Don't insult James by comparing him to that juvenile, annoying clown at Vice Grip Garage.
You must be having fun, because I had fun watching, thank you.😁
Probably one of the best Ebay sale listings ever. All the best with the sale!

The only thing it's missing is a Low-Buck Garage sticker on the back, like real dealers use so that the paint gets ruined when you remove it.

This series has given me all sorts of ideas. Bad for my wallet. Good for my entertainment. Nice work!
running engine goes outside under an old sign and a ripped up rag, blown up engine goes in the shed 😂😂😂 i love your style! NEVER CHANGE
I love everything about this, save for the fact that I can't buy it. Just found your channel. Love your obvious skills and ability to 'just make it work' attitude. It's a great combination.
Great video......its nice to see I'm not the only one who has to look over the rim of my glasses to see stuff close up ;)
You make things like cleaning up the engine, dressing it with an intake, carb and pan and headers seem quick. Having done it I know it's a lot of hours of fun.
Cool perfect timing

This hot rod is sooooooooooo cool... the exhaust note is great!
You put other you tube channels to shame.absolutley brilliant Chanel
Homemade gaskets are where it's at! Great job!
Congratulations, this is quickly becoming my favorite KZread video channel.
Damn, if I wasn’t in the UK, I’d buy it. Looks a whole lot of fun to throw around a quarry.
The humor in this video is spot on.
No wonder it took you 13 days since your last video , good job this Has got to be one of your best videos ! thx 👍👍 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I'm glad you're moving on in life and selling this one
I liked your tire and wheel engineering with parts on hand. Really like your style. Nice work. Cheers from Schuylklll County PA

I love it, new old sensor going in 😂
Please don't stop teaching me things haha
That's a great hotrod ! I hope whoever buys it stays in touch with any updates. Me, I'd just send it !
*Eye-crometer!* 🤣 I got a good laugh from that James! That pickup screen was pretty clogged for sure! 😦 Glad you removed the oil pan. Enjoyed the video very much 🙂👍 Hopefully you can find a buyer soon. Take care, be safe and happy wrenching 🔧🔩
This has become my favorite UTube channel Reminds me of some of the stuff I used to do in the mid 50s when I had more time than money. Had an uncle who had his own garage and built and modified farm equipment, old trucks and autos - was my "hero" growing up. Keep having fun !
Awesome as always 👍👍👍
When I first started wathing you build the hood, I was skeptical. However that hood came out, dare I say, perfect for this ride!!! This was a really nice build for what you started with! And like you said, the whole thing is a 50+ year design! Real cool buggy to get out there and have fun wtih!!!! KUDOS!
Love the build, have no money to buy. So…cool for whoever ends up with it. Keep building guys that’s half the fun.
I am 80, and that was how I reversed rims in the late 50s and early 60s. I never bothered to reverse the fill valves, but that was only a minor inconvenience. They looked good enough, that two of them were stolen out of the box of my pickup. I call that good enough. Fun video.
Thanks for sharing
In the early '70s, I bought a 1956 Willys CJ-5. At that time, larger, wider wheels weren't available. The next best thing was to do exactly as you did. Punch out the rivets and find a wider car wheel to weld it to. Later, farm implement wheels were made with the Jeep bolt pattern. Unfortunately, the tire selection was kind of slim. You could get wide tires, but the tread was only 8" wide. They looked funny. A big fat sidewall and skinny tread design.
It sure looks like a lot of fun even if it rattles a few teeth loose
"Still RPM'ing"...😎 That's my next T-shirt text!
That thing is cool lol
Yet another top-shelf video from Low Buck Garage!
Love your understated brilliance in providing solutions and bringing things to life.
Big fan of your channel. The world is going to find you soon and then Heavy D will be calling you for a collaboration.
Yes haww, claiming my spot so I can come back when my brain wakes up. Good luck with that.
A new old sensor is going in. Love your style.
This is like listening to Hank Hill, and he even has the character pat down. Been hooked since the stuck-wheel-camper-bus episode. Great videos!
Thanks Low-Buck Garage, for taken-us for a ride in ur Off-Rode Buggy. I would love to buy the Buggy, butt like most people, short on money.
Really like your channel. Great humor, creativity and git-er-doneness in all your videos and website. Sadly, no Low-Buck Buggy stickers or merch to be found...
You deserve wayyyy more subs! Thanks for posting. Take care, stay safe and have FUN!
Great video as usual. I like your thinking and care over the important issues. Lesson 1: always have gasket paper. Lesson 2: always check your oil pick up screen, pump, level & pressure when doing stuff like this. Lesson 3: if your oil pan gets a dent check that it is not cracked or blocking your pick up.
That's a hell-uv-a nice buggy now! So much good work dun to her, you rock!
Cool hood, nice work
Wow!! You’ve got a LOT of “stuff”…😎. Cool stuff.
I just enjoy your entire channel's philosophy. That's the same principles I endorse on my channel. Thank you for the inspiration!
Love it reminds me of the old water pumper buggies rocking around imperial sand dunes in the 60 70s
I Love this guy
That's how I make my gaskets
That buggy looks like loads of fun, with a classic touch, nice job!!
This would have to be one of your best videos. That was a lot of work you got through but also a hell of a lot of fun and I learnt a few things along the way. Thanks heaps. Cheers, Stuart 🇦🇺
Amazing what can be done with enough spare "stuff"!
Alex, I’ll take things I’d never think I’d see Low Buck doing for 1000 please. “Low Buck plays with sheet metal to add to aesthetics of a vehicle…” “What is Body Work Alex!”😂😂😂😂😂😂
Wow, that was such a fun video, tks for taking us along!
Fantastic stormy back drop
That thing is bonkers... And I love it!🤘😎
I've used the same yellow tote lid as a parts cleaning tray for almost 2 years. Has a lot of scrapes and scratches, but no holes or cracks. Might be worth keeping!
This channel is so much fun. Central California watching
Most old cars that had the left hand thread studs have had them replaced by now. A lot of people don't know or have forgotten about them. My Dad bought a 67 imperial. The driver side studs are left hand thread's. He was trying to remove the front wheel and was struggling with it. I told him they where probably still left hand. Checked and it was. He's been talking about replacing them since but hasn't found a real reason to yet.
That's awesome! And yeah, I'm picking up trash every time I head out in the woods here.
This little buggy made Barn Finds today! Way to go
A use for rattle cans other than graffiti, who would have thought? Great informative, entertaining and instructional vid again James, cant wait for your next!
The more I watch your channel the more I like it, thanks.
Nice job on the sand buggy she really has some good torque now with better tires and the new engine that thing looks great...
Excellent
Would like to have the Jeep! It is very nice! I think about all the different years and models pieces that you have put in there. I enjoy watching!
That is why I love Harbor Freight tools. If you get an electric tool for $12 that does five jobs and then craps out, you still got your money's worth. Of course not practical for a business shop. I have an angle grinder that I have used here and there, over 25 years! Cost me $12 and it still works. I bought it at one of those "Rent the Hall" tool sales. I also bought a can opener for $6. I opened my tuna can for lunch with it, this past week.
Good thing those lug nuts came with instructions.
The Red Pinstriping? 👍👍 It POPS!! 💥 Reminds me of pinstriped tires for cars _and_ bicycles from the late 60's / early 70's.
that exhaust setup is rad.
Your tire guy definitely doesn’t have to answer to a corporate manager
First time viewer here. Really enjoyed this content, especially the deadpan ironic delivery. “Good enough garage” seems like a more appropriate channel name but you got yourself a new sub nevertheless. Looking forward to watching future vids and browsing your past posts. Best regards from 🇬🇧
This thing is my favorite thing on the Internet.
Your videos are so entertaining- thank you!
Love your approach to KZread. Great projects and great adventure!
I have a 69 RHD DJ5 postal Jeep that I was planning on building similarly. I have a chevy 400 and a turbo 350 trans in the garage for the build. I wanna just cut the top off and get going, but the body is in great shape, so Ive been looking for someone looking for a clean body in a trade, so I dont feel bad cutting something so cool. haha
Some young guy will have a lot of fun with that and you've given them a really good start, low buck or not. Great work!
You do a lot better job than you give yourself credit for and your a great troubleshooter! Looking forward to your next project.
I like how you fabrafit to make things work. 👍

Is the rear open ,or a posi ? Your version of good enough is pretty damn awesome your Builds are way cool ,your commentary as your working makes me laugh my butt off
@LowBuckGarage
9 ай бұрын
Thanks! The rear is open, but the weight is far enough back that it doesn't really matter a whole lot. If you get crossed up a front tire just comes off the ground, and both rears still have traction.
I like the way you work! You're my kinda guy.
Damn good starting price. If i had it, i would definitely try for it
Nice improvements
Great video. Like the way you get things done. Not great, maybe not even good but good enough. That's the way my dad did it and if it was good enough for him, it's good enough for me. New subscriber. Good luck finding a buyer.
Good show
Nice work,sounds great..
Looks like a lot of fun!
Hi, awesome love it. Many thanks from UK.
Nice build James!
