My favorite thing to use the sun oven is roasted garlic. I roast 10to15 heads of garlic then put it in freezer for the rest of the year. Cooks perfectly and no smell in the house. The other day I made stuffed shells in the sun oven. So many uses, everyone should have one. It was fun to see the “big villager oven”

We did science project when I was in the 5th grade. We just used tin foil and cardboard. We cooked hot dogs and marshmallows. It was pretty neat to learn about that stuff. This is the first time I saw something like this though. Looks like a great product. Thanks for making this video.

I love my Sun Oven! Yesterday I put two frozen cornish hens in it and then went about my gardening chores. Today I have two spaghetti squash in there. My house remains nice and cool. It has more than paid for itself!

@@ashleytyler8218 When it is empty and in full sun it heats up to 300-350 in 20 min or so. It took longer with the frozen stuff but I wasn't in a hurry so it was ok.

I just fixed pinto beans and ham and also cornbread yesterday in my Doug and Stacy all American sun oven yesterday. When the sun is out I don’t cook in the house. I love my all American sun oven.

I purchased the Doug and Stacy Sun Oven and Love it, house stays cooler in the summer with not using oven or stove, and the corn cooked in a Sun Oven is to die for basically every thing taste better to me.

Hi guys, My 20 year old sunoven needs to be replaced soon. It has been well used. I gave my first one to someone who needed it at the time over 20 years ago and she used it for years. Yes it is the same ones as you are demonstrating but both of my ovens were from the time before all american bought them (or at least put their name on them). They are absolutely amazing! I have used mine for everything from braising pot roast to baking bread to making pizza to rendering lard and everything in between. Everyone should have one! My only complaint is that All American has not responded to multiple requests for purchasing a new liner to refurbish mine so I don't have to throw it away and buy a new one. I may just have to make my own liner at which point I will probably just make my own oven with improvements. By the way, it is easy to make a solar cooker that works just as well as the all american oven but compared to quick homemade cookers the all american is generally easier and more convenient to use and lasts much longer. If you can afford one buy the All American Sunoven. Take care, be well and all the best from California 💛

The coating was changed in 2008 and you should not need to replace the liner. You can flake off the loose powder coating on the inner shell and use black barbecue spray paint to cover the exposed metal. Barbecue paint is the only non-toxic spray paint on the market. Be sure the surface is clean and dry before applying the paint and wait 4-5 days before you put the empty oven out in the sun after the paint is applied. Let the oven heat up for approximately 1 hour with nothing inside to cure the paint. After the curing process allow the oven to cool down, wipe out the inside chamber, then your oven is ready to use. We have found this to happen because the glass door gets closed and latched while there is still moisture inside the oven. When storing the oven there is no need to latch the glass door closed, the reflectors will keep the door closed they are snapped. Paul

@@SunOvensolarcooking Hi Paul, Thank you! I appreciate the response. My sun oven was built sometime in the early 1990's when the manufacturer was still Sunovens International. The coating is blistering up in a sheet along the entire inside bottom edge. I suspect this was some type of paint as I don't know that powder coating was in widespread use back then and it honestly looks like peeling paint. It may have overheated as I accidentally left the oven in the sun after taking the food out and it got up to around 450 degrees before I caught it and moved it into the shade. I appreciate the tip about bbq paint being non toxic as that was the only reason I haven't simply stripped and painted it up until now. I will do that as soon as I finish cooking my lunch in it today! :) I also appreciate the tip about not putting the oven away with the door latched. I know that this is often overlooked and I always stress that to the people who I get hooked on sunovens and end up buying one! I personally always take my oven into the garage and let it cool down overnight with the door open just to ensure that all of the moisture is out before storing it. Then I clean it before storing it. Finally, please keep up the great work! Your ovens have helped so many people improve their lives both in developing countries and even here in suburbia. The first sun oven I owned I gave to a homeless friend who wouldn't have had hot food without it. She used it almost every day and was still using it when I finally lost touch with her several years later. It was literally her most prized possession. Austin, IMO it's good to have two. You can bake bread or rolls in one while cooking your main dish and a side dish in the other one :-)
