Hot tip from a sparky, put the female spade end on the positive from the socket so it's protected, and a male on the negative wire so you can't mix the polarity up!

Keep the vids coming, I use a 12v wash down pump for transfer and as a creek pump thru twin filters to van for showers etc, van tanks can be long term drinking water only if needed. Same setup if hose into to a bore tap ( many places are non drink )

I’ve had the exact same pump for a while for this exact job , jerry can from river etc… the ability to pump diesel is super handy too as I’ve got a ARB long range tank which doesn’t have a drain plug.. this should be handy if I ever get a bad batch of fuel

Yeah I've done a similar setup in my trailer. It has a self priming pressure pump (70psi-20LPM) with garden hose fittings on either side of it. Garden hose fittings on my water tanks and on my separate water filter too. This gives me the ability to move water anywhere I want.

Did almost identical setup about a month ago, I use an ARB jumpstart pack as power, pumped about 190 litres out of a creek with about 3 metre head in less than 30 mins, as a test I ran jumpstart for an hour and was still going. 👌🏼

Good idea, I got something similar but I just used a caravan pump for mine only cost $20, I mounted it in beside my roller draws and the tank is at the front of them, only because I wanted pressure to clean my gear when I come out of the water, always good to have an external one like yours though, you never know when you might need it, great idea transferring the water, save pulling up camp each time.

Thanks for the great demo. Fantastic! Bought that pump from Road Tech Marine as suggested. Couldn't install it in-line because I'm needing to suck the water out of the top of jerry cans in the canopy - too much air suction needed to get it started. So I'm dropping the pump into the water and it works fine. I've added an on/off switch for convenience. I'm planning on using the 12V fitting in the car assuming it doesn't drain the car battery, otherwise I'll need to get a cigarette lighter extension cord to reach the caravan 12V fitting.

P.S. the pump doesn't fit into the standard 20L water jerry can sold at Bunnings... although their other sizes have sufficiently wide inlets, and Mitre 10's 20L cans had the wide inlet.

Have had our for years. Very similar setup we purchased from Whitworths Marine. Not quite sure of our pump rate ltrs per min but it has a 9mtr height rating. Good for pumping from creeks and rivers etc straight through our hoses. We run ours from a 24ah battery charged via an Anderson plug from solar panels. We also have attached a small section of noodle plus 2 small floats above the pump. This keeps the pump out of the mud etc on the bottom of the river etc. Everything fits into a standard battery box for storage and easy use
