This is why the actress was so distraught when they were done filming and the fantasy ended. The world that was created for her in the commercial (fiction) was better than the world she lived in (reality). This is why she was so desperate and anxious to return to it.

We, as humans, are capable of creating fictional worlds that can sometimes be better than the world we/the author live in. Who exactly said world appears better to is completely subjective.

+Simeon Papadopoulos "Not everything is supposed to be yours" - I think that's exactly why she chose the fantasy over the reality. Not all dreams and fantasies are meant to become reality. Just because you love someone doesn't mean that they will love you back, despite your best efforts. The actor didn't feel the same way as the actress did in the video. With time, the actor may have eventually fallen in love with the actress; but even if he did, the actress has this romanticized fantasy of what the perfect relationship should be like built up in her head. Such a fantasy may have been impossible for the actor (or any other person for that matter) to live up to. So, she decided to choose the thing that she wasn't supposed to have, because it was the thing that made her happy.

Hard to believe it's been 8 years. The nostalgia is hitting me like a freight train. Just now really connecting with the video because I was in middle school when this came out lol. I like it, it's tragic but beautiful in a way. When I realized she fell in love with her costar and wanted it all to be a reality I caught myself audibly saying "awww".

it's so rare to find a song that gives you this feeling

I don't think that the movie set is actually a shoot, I think its a symbol for how sometimes relationships could be completely fake/set up, and in the end one person is left with a broken heart and the other never loved to begin with.

I've got a theory- Instead of this being an actress who falls for her co-star in a music video, what if everything up until right after the proposal was a real relationship, but all of the menagerie of a film set was just a visual metaphor for a relationship that's totally staged and is supposed to represent how he was becoming distant and loveless after a proposal, and her seeing the video inside was her pining for the moments before things started to become fabricated?

2:04 - that look when the weight of the world crushes down on you.

Ok. So, In the beginning they were in love, it was perfect. Picture perfect. They were in their own little world where no one else existed. To her, because they were so in love they were the only ones they could see. He takes a picture as "proof" of their love, but they begin to sneak around the house. Why? Because she's his secret, the other woman. They work (as actors on this set) together so no one thinks of it as more. He tells her he wants to be with her forever but it's a lie, fake, and simply an act. Then she notices when other people are around he acts different, distant. She tries to keep his attention, but he's too distracted leading his own life, where she isn't quite as important as she thought she was to him. They take off her make up and she's the real life version of herself. She's kind of afraid to let them take it off, bc this is the version she thinks he likes more. She tries to tell him she loves him but he's not really interested in the real her. So she runs off to the editing room and relives the moments she loves, and continues to believe in a love that only exists on her screen bc in real life it's not actually like that. Our fbs and shit are only an image we make of ourselves. The perfect version, but it's mostly fake, planned to look perfect. She sticks her hand in and looks like a druggie. An addiction to this falsely presented realty. No one really knows the real her, all they know for sure is that she is the girl. I actually think there's not that much meaning behind it...it's just supposed to be two actors filming a commercial. You can see how they randomly cut to product placement (the headphones, the phone, the labels on her shoes) because they're shooting a commercial. In it they play lovers, but just like in any acting scenario as soon as the job is done they have no real feelings for each other. However, she's fooled by his acting and ends up falling in love with him. She goes into the computer screen to relive the moment with him forever...I think basically it's just supposed to be two actors shooting a commercial and one falls in love with the other, not all this deeper stuff.

I used to play forza horizon 3 and this song as always on my favourite radio station. Its been soo long since ive played that game and when i heard this song first on spotify, I just wanted to cry. It made me question my reality, that i would never be able to relive my days back when i first bought the game. I love you

This entire album has such tremendous meaning to me.

The music video is about love being a commodity. In advertising and marketing they push the ideal relationship will be the outcome if you consume certain products. Why would the video highlight on branding so much? It's also shows how this ideal relationship is also fake- however we're surrounded by it so much through advertising that a lot of people will do anything to live like it's apart of their reality.

If anyone's wondering the message of this video from my point of view is that the girl and the guy are doing a shoot for a movie and she truly likes him however he only acts like he likes her for the movie. I think it shows that sometimes you're perceived by what you see and feel and in reality it's not what you think it is.

Can I just say, how amazing was this video ? Hands down, I'm not usually impressed with music clips, this is one of a kind.

This song reminds me of year 2014 when my old friend who is now in a better place recommended this for me. She said it kind of reminded her of our relationship even though we were just friends. I never actually checked it out but a month after she left I saw it in a playlist I had saved. I then realised the emotion that she had when she told me to check it out. But now she's in a better place.

6 years with this song, things started with her, grew onto me, our love become my passion, watched it dwindle down, and things ended at last. But this song has stayed, by my side to this day. Here's to "say my name". Thank you Odesza.
