I have a vintage Speedy 30 from 1986 and love it! Your bag is beautiful 😍

What a great story : ) Love the vintage items as I too am vintage and have been a LV lover for over 5+ decades, way back when they used to replace the vachette pieces for free on your bags it was part of the sale when you made your purchase. I recently found a beautiful French Company Speedy from the 80s in perfect condition (that bag will have the LVs on both sides up right because is made from separate pieces of canvas) I have many SLGs from the 80s and 90s too and yes, the canvas was so thick and wonderful back then. I am so happy you are able to get many, many more years out of your beautiful birthday year bag!!!

💓💓💓 Your speedy, your story and bravo to your SA for doing that for you, as a business woman myself, I applaud LV! I just love the monogram speedy and the vintage canvas as well…always and forever!!!! PS did they put brass rivets etc back on your bag or ?

I had my leather replaced on my vintage speedy 30 about 6 years ago. Unfortunately it wasn't for free Lol........She was produced in 6/1990. Yes my canvas is also thick and holds it shape as well.

Oooh love that you did yours! And while my story is really unique, I’ll bet that you still paid a really decent price 6 years ago. Now the repair costs have gotten crazy too! 😢 I wish I’d done full leather replacements on more bags years ago. Now I won’t really consider it unless I’d be willing to buy at brand new prices… but worth it for that thick canvas.

My mono speedy was my first LV purchase from the boutique in 2007. I had wanted the bag since I first saw one in 1980. Mine was 700 something at the time I purchased it. I remember shaking as the thought of getting my dream bag and paying that much was a bit overwhelming. I use my speedy to this day. It’s my designated travel bag. It’s been used heavily and has a beautiful patina. It’s still in beautiful condition. Although I’ve added many more bags over the years (LVs), this one will always be a favorite.

Very informative video. I love all the information you provided. A lot of people don’t know about Damier ebene being first. And the date code history of LV bags. I am desperately in search of a birth year bag. I turn 50 this year and know date codes weren’t included that far back. But would love a speedy 25 from 1974. Great video. ❤

Thank you so much!! Yes, it’s tricky to find older bags pre-date code. A friend of mine has a pre-date code Speedy and just calls it her birth year bag even though it’s impossible for her to know for sure. 👍
