This poem was written by Pope when he was only 12 years old. At that age he was diagnosed with Potts Disease, and he grew up hunchbacked, asthmatic, frail, and prone to violent headaches. As an adult he was 4'6" tall. His appearance made him easily targeted by his enemies later in his life. Prezi -

It's a variation on Horace' Beatus Ille. But it avoids the cynicism. To be less cynical than Horace would have seemed daring once.
