Well, seems Abe meant his 'GET ME OUT OF HERE' very seriously.

I watched in both shock and admiration as my favourite videogame was broken to half to make it go faster. Phasing through the floors with weird running spots was one thing, but then completely skipping out Scrabania and Paramonia by doing some funky shit with the death triggers making all the sligs do their frog croaks and really confusing the game to skip through the walls to tiles that aren't normally accessible in that manner was just amazing to witness.

Abe was so fast the guards didn't even bother shooting him at the end.

It is possible to pull that lever without dying and/or glitching as well. So you dont need shrykull

o4olivers well I’m working on an Abe’s Exoddus game in Unity. I’m aiming to get it done by November. I got some of the best freelancers helping me. There hasn’t been much of an Oddworld fan game apart from the flash game.

Never has a speedrun given me such anxiety

you FELT cheated? He literally cheated. He went through walls and used invulnerability. I don't want to see what this guy looks like or how he acts in real life, you can hear from his voice. It's a pretty big disgrace to the game at the end when he says ''world record'' when in reality he just skipped huge parts of the game and used cheats. That's pretty low, a cheater, bragging.

@@llVIU ...You realise that the entire point of a speedrun is to utilize every mechanic of the game, whether intentional or not, to achieve the fastest time possible right? Glitching is the name of the game when it comes to any% runs, and if you want to see a run without glitches, look up a glitchless run.

@@llVIU Apologies, I meant intentional as in "Whether the game developers created that mechanic intentionally or not". Either way, the speedrun is based on game knowledge and skillful execution of that in an attempt to get the fastest time possible. Glitches =/= cheating, as it does not involve use of a third-party program or developer cheat to increase your odds of getting a good time. As you sit there and say that he "disgraces" the game by "cheating", you fail to realize that it takes alot of time, patience and dedication to learn and understand how the game works. So if you think about it, he actually has ALOT of respect for the game to the point where he would literally study and play the game to the point where he could pull moves like he does consistently, and has clearly beaten it multiple times before. He's not trashing the game or disrespecting it, he's simply played it so much that he learned how to perform the actions that he does.

Lesson time. If you want to see a glitchless run (for any game's speedrun videos), there's a category for that. Search for "glitchless speedrun" or "no glitches." Nobody's trying to fool anyone here. It counts. When it comes to speedrunning, the fastest ones will ALWAYS include glitches (assuming the game has usable glitches). ;)

What the hell. I’ve played this game all my life and never seen so many glitches and things to pull off.. I can’t even understand how those are made. For example that backward jump to other screens. Well played, gg.

The European Speedster Assembly (ESA) is a charity speedrunning marathon that takes place annually in Sweden. This year, the event is being held at the Fortnox Arena in Växjö. The marathon starts on July 23rd at 8am and ends on August 1st at noon. The Abe’s Oddysee speedrun will be on the 26th of July.

I used to play this game so much as a kid that I was actually able to run through the Stockyard Escape section at about the same speed as you. I have no idea how you got through the other sections so fast, though!

+DEATH BASE TURBO It's frame perfect dude, but you can open up Bizhawk and advance the game frame by frame and you'll be able to tell from the frame counter exactly when you will need to press the other way.

Not sure if he's invisible, or rather the game and the NPCs treat Abe's like he's "dead" or in a "just died" state, since the sligs laugh and vocalize when Abe's on the screen... In any case, hats off, it was amazing to watch!

badja08 there’s a glitch in this game and New ‘n’ Tasty which allows Abe to become invisible to enemies. They will go into their animation on when Abe is dead and Abe will run straight through them. Personally if I had that glitch in my Abe fan game - I would try and fix it.

Pure skill .... I wish I can do speed run it like this on my pc... Lol I have 4 hrs on the game and I'm shit but I still love odd world

Yeah. I'm making my own mobile game called Smash it where you have to get as many points as you can. I'd recommend playing it first to see how good your reaction times are. Then you can start speedrunning Abe.

Watching the backwards jump was like watching a beautiful ballet awesome fucking awesome!!!

I learnt how to skip Paramonia and Scrabania from Sligfantry's tutorial. He was the person who discovered the skip.

This is one of my all time favorite games and you really destroyed it in a very good sense. Love it, thumbs up, maybe old but still amazing.

how do you do the hoist down through a platform? all i know is that you have to o something near an actual ledge

When Abe turns around I let go of down and when I want to hoist down I press either left then down or right then down depending on where Abe is standing. The diagonal fall is done by a stop turn before the ledge glitch.

How do you bypass that slig at the start? I can't get it the mudokon blocks his first few bullets but I can't get it. What's the inputs at that point?

Aaron Kenna i can't describe inputs because you can't TAS PC games unfornatley but what I can say is that after pulling the lever, quickly go into a roll so that Abe is positioned next to the Mudokon. As soon as the Slig wakes up, roll forward.

@@Austin-bc1yh the Oddspeed people are making one which hopefully we will see on the TASVideos site. I would TAS Exoddus 100% PC cause the PS1 version crashes on certain skips. There’s hidden wells that work on the PC version and you can also do ARG (advanced recolatiom glitches) which a TAS would benefit from.

So the turn delay exploit requires a frame perfect turn and once you get it you hold up AND the jump button which is usually triangle on ps1 and you can leap back repeatedly to go through walls

Hi - now I’m running Abe’s Oddysee 100% without the DDG. It makes the game too broken for that category. The 100% run only uses auto turn and stop turn glitches and I stream my attempts live with mic on so when I stream next go to twitch.tv/samtastic95 and you’ll see me attempt it. I will be streaming later today.

6:12 - 6:21 Im a bit confused on that one there xD. The rest of the run though, amazing. Also, how come the sligs don't shoot you when you run right past them at times?

Yeah, if you can figure out how to exploit their reaction times if you go at it enough. For example, as a child I was able to figure out pretty much all of the tricks he use during the Stockyard Escape section to run past sligs, but most of the other stuff in this video is new to me.

Its called the death delay glitch. He set it up using the bees around the 5 minute mark. Makes the game think abe is dead which causes enemies to act like hes dead

this speedrun deseves 1 billion hits.

It you are rolling left, then you have press right at the right frame. If you are rolling right, then you have to press left at the right frame.

Yeah. I use a controller for the game. I am currently running Exodus on my Twitch channel and the backwards jump is not so easy to do comparing to the ledge glitch.

The game thinks Abe is dead due to a glitch he used as part of the run called DDG (Death Delay Glitch) Therefore rendering anything from killing or interacting with him also known as Ghosting
