Strange vice with two different part numbers. Are they the same size ,are they of the same brand or could it be two different vices .
Watch the video to find out.

This vice was restored for a huge supporter of our channel. Thank you George @uwannawatch for the inspiration - He told me I should make a boat anchor out of this odd thing.😂
Bravo! That was a crusty looking vice from 2 vices!! Looks incredible now! 😸

A fine job on this one! I like the fun paint job! 👍. Just out of curiosity, did you consider trimming off the sides of the fixed jaw to make it the same size as the moving jaw? It looks like the screws holding the jaw were far enough in to not be disturbed. Then you could have ground the "NO. 4" off the fixed part and no one would have known the parts were from two different vises! 🤔😁👍

Thanks for watching. I thought about that exactly. The screws on the No4 jaws would have been about 5mm from the edges. The other issue was that the main screw ( handle part) was from the number 4 and fitted into the number 3 dynamic part, thus no room for a spring. We concluded that it was best to just do a cosmetic restoration and use it for light jobs by only adding some Aluminium jaws. To be honest my friend liked it so much that i bet you he'll never use it. He has so many other ones to play with 🤣😄👍
What a transformation. That pin looked painfull trying to get it out. Hope you had better luck with the new split pin. Nice are work., really sets it off. Well done, I like it 👍

Big Thank You Big Vic. The jaw covers are aluminium & felt. Good for softer materials.Saw them in a shop a while back and bought them. Never used them and forgot which shop it was 🤔🤣🤦♂️

Hey Little Restorers nice work. I’ll bet it took ages to get that lot apart. I love the artistic touches you added and I guess you could call it a Record 3.4😂. I use paint stripper on thick paint before sandblasting as well as it saves contaminating the media. The worst mistake I made was to sandblast a jerrycan that had some old contact cement on it. The sandblaster ripped it off no problem but I have payed for it ever since as those little pieces of contact cement continue to accumulate in the gun like pieces of plastic and block the media from flowing. I think I’ve got most of it but it was very frustrating there for a while. Cheers mate, Stuart.

Hey Stu, good to hear from you. Record 3.4 suits 😄. Yeah, I like to keep the media as clean as possible and also not have any of that old lead paint mixed in it. My extraction system is just an old Dyson vaccum cleaner 🤣. Keep well mate .

I think you told me once that I use pieces of scrap to make art. Well mate, that’s exactly what you have done. I love it! The art work on it really sets it off. Congratulations mate. Great work.

Well, that's a little different, yet not completely unheard of. At some point in time someone made 1 from 2 busted vices. Whatever gets you out of trouble!

Hi , thanks. The one thing I found a bit stange with this one was that the number 4 part did not have the Record name on it. And the bottom of the base also did not look like other Records so am not even sure if the "4" part is even of the same brand .

@@LittleRestorers Yep, looked a bit familiar, yet strange, at the same time.
Well you turned a turd floating down the river into a lovely boat anchor ! The more you stripped it down the more I thought what ya gonna do ... A final closing shot of chucking it over the edge into the water with some details about what size chain to use woulda been nice .... Maybe next time .... 😂😂😂 We use the same question marks ....
