Updates; 1) Since the video dropped, the controller haptics in SteamVR games has been fixed! 2) Bluetooth headphones still are unusable with Quest 2 due to around 3 secs of latency. 3) Third party link cables and the original Quest charging cable work for Oculus Link. []-)

I'm seriously worried about how they managed to make the price so cheap though. This stuff is expensive for a reason. If the quest 2 is a lot more powerful and has better resolution, yet is 70 euro cheaper than the original, where did they "save on the costs"? But if this really is just a better headset than even the Rift S, then I now feel a little cheated on buying the Rift S a month ago. Especially that screen resolution. The main problem I have with the Rift S is the screendoor effect. Mostly only really noticeable when in virtual desktop trying to read stuff, or in games like VRChat with a lot of contrasting and bright colors going on. In games like minecraft, NMS and subnautica I don't really notice it. But the Quest 2 seems to have almost entirely eliminated it from what I've seen.

The only real turn off for me is the Facebook account, I don't want my information being robbed.

I had been trying to get an Oculus Quest 1 for months but best buy was always sold out of it every time I went in there. Thank God it was. Went to BB yesterday and picked up a Quest 2 they had mountains of them stocked in their top shelfs. Doesn't look like there will be a shortage of these.

I have one of these on the way for my birthday on the 26th of the month! Super glad I have these videos to get me started

Just got mine in today (the 13th October). I must say I am VERY pleased that they were right on time and no hiccups for the release. I was able to get through the setup and start downloading my library etc I have on my Quest. I could tell right away that it was faster and had MUCH better resolution and quality... I am little peeved though that all my new mamut grips won't fit the new controllers. Speaking of the new "stubby" controllers...I hate the angle they moved everything and now holding them actually causes my wrists to ache just moving around the menu.....so I hope there is something that comes out that makes them ergonomical...bc they aren't.

Ngl, as soon as a other standalone headset comes out, I'm ditching Facebook

Not only does there need to be a new headset, they need to have a decent library of games before its an actual competitor. Facebook has been in this race since almost day one, so it’ll be hard for others to get to the point there are at now, especially at the price point they are pushing. I am curious to see other companies try to compete, but I hope there’s something relatively soon.

I'm still using the original Oculus Rift CV1 headset. Been through some rough times, but it is still holding up. Got scratches on the lenses a couple times due to wearing glasses, but was able to use a paste to get rid of them and make it look brand new. Still, all those headsets with no need for a bunch of sensors taking up all the usb ports must be nice...

@@edmundoar123 if you're certain you have the money, the second option is an easy choice, but thats if you feel like you'll be getting a bunch of games, and when I say a bunch, i mean A BUNCH. Also if you'll be downloading movies and such for when you're on the go. But if not 64 gb is an excellent choice. Hope this helped!

I find it interesting that they skimped on the strap that comes with it, because they wanted to separately sell us the strap that should have come with it. I hate it when companies do that!

@@Resist4 Well, many people will be totally fine with the default strap and certainly prefer the £100 saving instead. And, for those who want a better strap, there's now two official options for that, which take the price up to just under or just over the cost of the current 64GB Quest depending on the version you choose. So no one is taking the piss here.

i bought it mainly to play from my pc, but as life happens the power outage was for a few hours, so i picked my oculus quest 2 to play without the pc, great experience! the only problem was the light, it was getting very dark and oculus constantly intrupted the experience.

This is such a hugh difference then when I first saw a VR headset. It was so much larger and heavier. The games were worse than the ones on the Commodore V20 or the C64, they were just outlines of rock, plants, and people. But that was like 20 to 30 years ago when I saw that in a mall display in Chicago. I would love to have the new Oculus Quest 2 but it might be more affordable but its not a fordable to me being retired cause of a disability of a fixed income.

Thank you for this review. I really want to have my own VR headset because I played with my friend's VR headset and really enjoyed it. I couldn't find a good one because I have an entry level PC and I need a better one to play the other headsets. So once I found your video on the oculus quest 2, I was sold.
