    Ever since I first discovered this website, I have been reborn in my curiosity and love of marine biology, specifically for octopuses. I am sure they are my favorite creature of this world. They are beautiful, intelligent creatures the ethereal fairies of the sea. Thank you so much Nautilus for your showing us of your discoveries and for opening up my heart to creation again.

    Beyond incredible. Thank you for allowing me to see this, as it is, in it's natural state and habitat with minimal disturbance. This is their world. We are just visiting. I'm intrigued a bit by the worms that are intertwined in some of the 'fauna'. Interesting to say the least. I find this all incredible and amazed to live in times where science and techography have merged with widespread availability. Great work all involved!

    Pardon me, ? Idk if that’s a shot against pro-choice arguments, but pro-choice isn’t necessarily pro-abortion. Pro-choice just wants to be able to make decisions for themselves, which can include continuing or discontinuing the pregnancy, but it’s not an indicator that they couldn’t be dedicated mothers.

Incredible Between 6:10 - 6:35, it is almost impossible to see as the video is playing, but if you tap your keyboard arrow to the right, then left, then right ( just to skim in between scenes), you can see the octopus' "brain"(?) move from a flat shape, into more of a bulge in between it's eyes as if it new Nautilus was there lol

    Funny, I did the same thing! Fun fact: the only part of their body that they can’t change the shape of, is the area between their eyes. So they can fit through/into any space that’s just a bit wider than that space, annd even cooler? They can typically judge whether they’ll fit just by eyeballing (get it? Haha) the space! I love octopuses...

    Amazing, just astonishing and a privilege to be alive at this time to see such beautiful flora and fauna in such complexity. Reg public awareness, could those commenting possibly make mention the age, if known, of the corals and other long lived organisms that are fixed to the sea floor or structures. It's my understanding that some of these calls are their ages in the hundreds and sometimes thousands and possibly tens of thousands of years. And we indiscriminately send down nets to just troll and those corals are considered bicatch and thrown back in ocean destroyed. Also reg the brooding octopus, terrestrial mammals reptiles birds reptiles lesser to heat is involved in the brooding process but for these octopus how are these eggs what mechanism allows them to develop in the absence of heat. Best Regards one and all. James. Oh one more reg timestamp 09:15 octopus making color and texture change covered in vast amounts of marine snow. If this octopus lives in complete darkness, what process has allowed it to perceive the different textures and shapes in the environment if it can never see them. The general sea floor is just soft and shape less but somehow in the presence of Argus lights the octopus instantly knows what color and texture. I am assuming that any creature with eyes having lived at depth and darkness, would be blinded for no short time by the lights and yet the octopus makes good choices. Amazing.

  • @dr.spectre9697
    @dr.spectre96975 жыл бұрын

    Doesn't the really bright lights of the underwater vehicle hurt or damage the eyes of deep sea organisms?? I would think they would be so sensitive to it because not only are their eyes so big, they are adapted to gather even the slightest amount of light in the deep darkness. Also the lasers if shined into the eyes of those animals could be particularly damaging.

  • @misssmisssymaria

    Dr. Spectre I’m pretty sure they’re aware of that, which is why they don’t sit there pointing the spotlight on the fish for hours, it’s momentarily. Also, those lasers are what they use to take measurements, they can’t exactly take rulers or measuring tape to those depths.

  • @GaldirEonai

    @GaldirEonai

    3 жыл бұрын

    It's been tried in captivity. They refuse food that's offered to them while brooding. They have hormone-producing glands behind their eyes that basically shut down everything not directly related to reproduction after mating. Removing those glands renders a female octopus infertile but vastly increases her lifespan.
