It is funny how there is such a wide spectrum of people-pleasing. I feel that for me, the group that I wanted to impress the most was never family or my close friends or not even strangers! It was always people in between - like work colleagues or some friends of the friends.

I people please so they don't leave me. I have a fear if they are displeased, they will leave me and I'll be alone. I'm getting better now. It feels so good to know I'm not the only one who feels like this.

Enjoyed this one! Forgot to mention a book that helped me with people pleasing. It’s called ‘No more mr nice guy’ by Robert Glover. Not on the reading list but a great book nonetheless!

The overcompensation by being controlling and in peoples face. Yes, a it’s due to fear. In dogs, we call in fear aggression when they are so anxious, they react by attempting to neutralize the threat. Even when we as humans know there is nothing to fear, they get flooded and it’s hard to learn to calm down. People are no different.
