Michael G. If you are travelling with a 5 & 15 yr old I would probably sway toward the Lanzarote Mar which tends to be a little more family orientated. There is little between the two hotels. Food is excellent in both hotels. Both are very clean and have friendly staff. Hotel rooms are again very good at both. Enjoy!

The Olympic pool is used ALOT during the Easter holidays , I went here this Easter and there were Germany Dutch and many more including the junior team for Germany

Daniel, if you go to www.barcelo.com/en-gb/ and then enter Occidental Lanzarote Mar in the search box, then simply put your dates and number of people / rooms required, it will give you the prices. You can choose from B&B Half Board or All Inclusive. Its definitely worth pricing it booking the hotel and flights separately. It will be interesting to see how the August prices work out for you. Let me know if you require any further info.

Hi! Thanks for the video upload. We've been in this hotel 4 years ago when It was called Barcelo resort. We would like to go back now in spring, but I have a question before I book.. In your video, I saw they removed the mini kids club. It was near the olimpic swimming pool, instead now they made a tiny sports aerea. My question is: is there a kids club? Hopefully they moved it somewhere else or did they completly removed it?

Yes, they still have the kids club. It is situated in either block 5 or 6. They organised activities everyday.

I've been there and I love the songs but the pools are cold

Out of both the Playa and The Mar hotel which one overall is better for entertainment? And which would you choose is the best overall taking into account all aspects?

If you are travelling with children, I would go for the Mar. If travelling with adults then the Playa. However both hotels are very good and both cater for Adults and Children alike. If I had to choose between the two, then I would go for the Playa. This is because it was fully refurbished in 2012-13, and is a little more modern. You also have direct access to the small cove from the Playa. Entertainment is pretty much the same format at both hotels, so little to choose on that score. Again food, very similar at both hotels, the only difference being the drinks in the restaurants are self service at the Playa and waiter service at the Mar. Hope this helps.

I’ve just been to the mar and is much better for children , it is more of a resort that a hotel , with loads of entertainment all day long for kids , and it’s great because your children could learn the dances for the songs !

I love the song at the pool the "ohh Layo oo oo" lol

Supple Island5 ho no we were there in JUNE we had aroom looking on to this pool. The entertainment was bad bad bad ,day and night . We ended up using hotel bus to go into town on the morning and get a taxis back around 12.30 in,morning , staff great ,food very very bad , entertainment , very very very bad. Fav island LANZAROTE ,But defo would sack entertainment team . We even notice in fight amongst evening entertainment team . One of the girls was crying ,as others pulled her hair thinking knowone was looking.

If you have children then the Lanzarote Mar. If you are a couple then the Lanzarote Playa. Little to choose between the hotels though.

Yeah they use brand names spirits at the adult pool bar thats the only reason.

Great video but awful hotel which wasn't clean. Food is terrible here too and I'm someone who normally eats anything
