on an 8 string you can do a natural harmonic, fifth fret, and the bend the string with the right finesse. that's one technique I discovered, without being shown and have yet to see a guitarist do it. Also like to do natural harmonics then bend them, by bending the strings above the fretboard

I used to squeeze harmonics out while tapping by hitting the string with my pick hand while I held a note with my index finger.

@@ChaBadaBadass i recorded another rhythm track that played one of the screeches when the rhythm track I recorded on camera did not. I recently uploaded a video on how I got the screech sound, it is not really a harmonic but pushing the string into the pole of the pickup

I _think_ he's pressing the string into the pickup so it's making contact with something solid whilst doing a pinch harmonic. Could be wrong though - will give it a go tomorrow.

It's one popular style. There's still tons and tons of bands in the extreme metal space that don't chug 0s the entire song. If you don't like it then stick to your ophidian i's and obscura's or whatever floats your boat
