Many maps got destroyable boxes at BS. Funny glitch, paintball gun deals 100 damage, and it's possible to easily destroy these boxes.

btw there is a mod for cs 1.6 call CSPIPA or somenthing like that,its a really famous mod in brazil,basically you controlled a kite in the mod and the way you earned money was cutting other kites cords and get them when they fall on the ground,you can buy new kites skin new abilities more stronger cords and more that i forgot

Im 29 now, but had like 6k hours in CSS until i was 16 or 17. I know 1.6 Modding scene too, because i played both at the same time in 2006. The 1.6 Mod community was probably 20% of what the source community was. CSS was cooking like crazy, i guess 70% of the server were random mod servers that have nothing to do with normal gameplay anymore. I literally remember there being 160+ Minigame servers and 2/3rd being full and hosting 40 people+. Deathrun was poppin with like 400 servers and a shitload of people. Surf was like 1k+ servers and full of people. BA_Jail was also populated, but only the german servers not international wise, probably every german that played CSS played on jail servers haha. Then like every 5th server you came across ran RPGMOD which is basically a skill tree mod where you level up and add +1 to your stats (so hp, hp regeneration, longjump, ammo etc.). Absolutely beautiful too. Theres literally no game that had so many modded servers as CSS back in time, except Gmod of course. There were well over 130.000 CSS players which 2/3rds played modded only, its so weird seing 95% of the playerbase of CS2 not being interested in mods because thats basically the only reason people played CSS back then. There was no game like source that can come close to the experience, Gmod pretty much is a great replacement but the source movement and weapons are what made it so fun.

Its been a shame seeing Valve slowly killing modding for the few years up to CS2. Custom servers are pretty much all my playtime across CS games so I really have no urge to want to play the game anymore. Tried surfing in CS2 and all the ramps were jank so you'd hit an invis texture halfway through the ramp and just dead stop. WCS is super super basic and hardly has any players, if any at all most hours of the day.

CS source was my comfort/social game , used to hang around zombie escape , mini games and deathrun back in about 2011, now unfortunately the servers I played on died out , there's still a huge amount of zombie escape though.

I briefly hosted a CS:S minigame server many years ago. It was an insanely fun mode honestly.

I still have the server files but I don't have the time to maintain it. I wish I could find an active server of it today

I swear for some reason a big drop in cs 1.6 playerbase happened between 2017 and 2020 even in the Balkans Servers are not how they used to be

PaintBall used to host 5v5 matches, sorta like matchmaking but with the paintball mod, it was pretty fun but didn't last long

Oh man I loved playing breakable maps back in the cs:s days. The idea of carving the arena to your liking before minecraft was a thing was so fun back then. Good times

there is another game mode which I forgot it's name basically : it's just normal round based game but with weapons from different games you can buy a jetpack but what's interesting is it has half life npcs, I remember one map had bullsquids and the server used mostly func vehicle maps it was fun and had many players until one day the server became nsfw and instead of normal hostages it was replaced with undressed girls which led to its decline and finally shut down, the last time I played there was 7 years ago.

I loved to play Furien, Zombie Base Builders and Paintball in 1.6, good times.

I'm 23 today, and I played most of these mods. I played Warcraft 3 in CS 1.6. I played Superhero in CS:CZ. I played WCS in CS:S (warcraft 3 css version). I played Zombie mode in CS 1.6, CZ, CSS, and CSGO, both with Warcraft mods and not, escape modes or survival modes. I played Soccer Jam in CS 1.6 and CZ. I played Soccer in CSS and CSGO. I played Grenade War in CS 1.6 and CZ. I played countless fun maps in CS 1.6, CZ, and CSS. I played Surf in CS 1.6, CZ, CSS, and CSGO. I played KZ in CS 1.6, CZ, and CSS. I played Paintball in CS 1.6 and CZ. I played BHOP in CS 1.6, CZ, CSS, and CSGO. I played Minigames a LOT in CSS, and some in CSGO. I played Deathrun a LOT in CSS. I played Jailbreak a LOT in CSS, specially the servers with power up bonuses you could accumulate with xp such as long jump for bhops and more hp, etc. By far, the one I played the most in my life was Minigames, but the one I loved the most and am always pretty sad about not being as popular as it once was, is the Warcraft 3/Superhero/WCS genre, mainly WCS. I used to run a PT-BR Superhero server in CZ, but yeah. I loved playing Surf + WCS in CSS. It was my favorite gamemode. Too bad its dead now. Hoping it revives in CS2.

I remember playing on a server called Diablo II LOD. There were no guns, just a knife at lvl 1. You basically had to kill mobs from Half Life to get exp and level up. There were skill points and hero classes. Also, I remember that with gold dropped from killed mobs, you could buy armors, weapons, potions etc. It was fun, but I don't know anyone who also played this mode. Pretty obscure, I suppose (I believe there was only ONE server in Europe)

There was a mod called Call of Duty mode, where you picked a class and you played like a regular match of CS, it was a lot of fun

This video is a such trip down memory lane. The most notable modes from here and the ones I remember the most are warcraft, superhero, high explosive grenades and soccer jam. I wasn't too familiar with the CS Source ones because I mainly play deathmatch, gun game and zombie mod on there.

I spent much of my youth on one server in css that was rpg mod + surf. Tons of fun. Also zombie survival was a great secondary

There were servers in TF2 such as Slag or Redsun where it would essentially be a "Variety Server" where people would vote on which mode they wanted to play and then vote again on which map they would want to play and everyone would just stick around for whatever community made minigame was chosen, such gamemodes would also very rarely thrive as standalones so they played better as a part of a pack, though Slag existed a while back and Redsun has past its prime a couple years ago, on such a goofy game as TF2 if such communities were as rare as they were, I'd be surprised if any idea alike ever floated for long over at CS' playerbase...

Bro I'm really glad u concluded "fun maps" cuz i've used to play it when I was like 8 years old and it was my first cs 1.6 gamemode, right before deathruns. Reaaaally nostalgic shit. Love the video, but I'm pretty sure there's a shitload of content for the second part: you missed some of my favourite modes, like: pokemod (variation of superhero mode) cod mod, hide and seek (the one where you have to seek other players in the dark and if you'll find some hiding dude, then he have to guess your next flashlight colour (they were randomly switching), not the kz maps, zombie escape (zombie mode variation, where map was one long corridor, some are more advanced than csgo operations fr fr) and last but not least - base builder, I also recall some weird ass mod where you had to fight chickens, but I was like 5 years old and my brothers had shown it to me.

I played so much Furien on 1.6…Banger gamemode.

I still checkout source mini game maps a couple times a year, some of them are more than just mini-games, and sometimes you can find a really wildly creative map that probably has hundreds of hours put into it, just to be forgotten, I love them

Furien has special rules that u didn't put into the video. With these rules Furien gamemode makes much more sense. So first u aren't allowed to go back from where u came from as a ct since that would be too op for the cts. As ct u aren't allowed to camp (stay still or crouch), most furien servers have a camp meter. But usually the admins of the specific server watch that everyone respect those rules and if they camp 3 times or turn back they get a timeout on the server. Furien is one of the best game modes if your movement is on point since on t side u are fast and its so satisfying killing the cts after strafing into them. I think people should try it out because it's fun and hope cs2 will have furien servers.

This gave me nostalgia bro i remember the skins that the furiens used to have. Can you still find full servers in 1.6?

My favorite was Alien vs Predator for 1.6. It's a DM with health and armor spots from HL, getting cash with kills and 5 super heroes you can buy with cash (Predator, Zombie, Freeman, Skeleton with AK and some dude with M4).

I was sick at soccerjam lol, you could do some great movements and shots when you got the hang of it

Deathrun was also a thing and jailbreak. There was also a map called most wanted where you had to take a car with a ladder to acess shops to buy guns.

paintball is one of my fav cs mods and there are versions with diffrent guns and stuff i really enjoy the gameplay

I remember there was a gamemode called Easyblock. There were maps from de, awp etc. categories and these maps were filled with different types of blocks. It was mostly about bunnyhopping and kz, for example green blocks disappeared when you jumped on them, red blocks were delayed, skull blocks killed you etc. T's had to run around the map and jump into "camps" to get different tools to help them win the round, like grenades, weapons, health boosts and much more. CT's on the other hand had to catch T's by knifing them. It was pretty nice and for some time kinda popular if I remember correctly. Also there is one very obscure gamemode, or map, that I remember from my childhood. I think it was called adventure maps? There were only CT's and they had to finish the map from the start to the end. You can say it was something like kz, but there were different puzzles that you had to do and correct paths to take to not backtrack. It was pretty weird but it was fun

Hell yeah I remember those, they were "tiles" like platforms and had a ton of particulars ones. They were used a lot in HNS servers. They all had particular physics and they were a ton of them. Ice, Fire, Bhop, Platforms ones...

You should've mentionned how Soccerjam was still a thing in CS:S and in the debuts of CS:GO Of course, CS 1.6 & CS:S Soccerjam were different due to the "ball physics". Also CS:S didn't had those "upgrade" section. Both were pretty good but I always prefered the CS:S mechanics, and both needed skills. Another "niche" mod was "Resident Evil" mod in 1.6/CS:CZ Where you had to kill zombies to upgrade your guns, had a VIP to escape to finish a round. It used custom models and the map were real fun, having a tons of memories playing it !

i loved playing furien and zm base builder. it's so sad how in cs2 basically 99% of the player base doesn't play custom servers :(

I grew up with CS:S and I remember I really loved Death Run, Surf, Gun Game and Prison/Jail mods. I also remember playing Zombie mod, but not as often. What a time!

I'd say probably close to 3400-3500 hours of my 3700 CSS/CSGO hours were in a WCS server that I was also an admin in for close to 10 years if not more. The CEGamer server was popping until about 2020/2021 when Valve started mass updating the game and breaking it constantly, plus the fact people were getting older and starting families so they werent on much. It got to a point where a 200mb update would be hours of coding for the owner so he kind of gave up as it wasnt worth the time away from his real jobs and family. SG also had their WCS server running for a real long time on CSS and CSGO. Theres WC servers in CS2 but Valve has made it extremely hard to even make custom servers so they dont function very well and dont have a large playerbase.

Diablo mod and Predator mod These mods were in Counter-Strike 1.6. Diablo mod on Polish servers was very popular a long time ago, now there are no servers for them.Predator was very little known and there was only one server as I remember

I played cod:mod all day, also basebuilder servers dont exist anymore btw Paintball was super popular in Poland, always servers full of players

I still wonder about Ghost mode. Because it came out in Crossfire (that weird Asian CS1.6 clone) on the release, that game is also quite old, but Ghost mode there has annual Tournament, so I wonder which game really came up with. PS: Counter Strike Offline basicaly uses models from Crossfire And CS online if you wanna take a peek.

There is a server on 1.6 called Avatar Battle. It's basically a zombie mod but instead of zombies there are avatars.

The predator mod, was really nice

Minigame had subgenres like multigame which you showed where 1st guy in the middle can choose which minigame will pe played that round and my favourite course which is like mix of deathrun and kz.

I remember when in cs 1.6 there was a server which was similiar to ghost mod just little different. Full team CT and some shop bonus weapons like m249,and T was just one which was fully invisible had little more speed and only knife,but knife kill with one hit.Ts mission was to kill everyone and CTs it was to kill him or hostages.SUCH A FUN.OLD TIMES.

Warcraft 3 mod my beloved. I played this and CoD mod obsessively when in middle school. Good times. I wish more people cared about custom mods in newer CS versions instead of comp mode being main focus.

Forgot Guardian, which puts one player as a hp tank and him getting killed loses you the game. Like symmetrical VIP. There was also pokemon, which you used half life npcs as pokemon. Jailbreak, hide and seek, kreedz, deathrun, surf, aim, knife maps are covered in other videos or they are not forgotten?

There's a game called "The Hidden" and I think it's based off of the Ghost game mode, but it was made into it's own standalone mod for half-life 2

Please make a video on the one where Ts bhop on blocks that disappear temporarily in order to get to a specific elevated position. Cts have to get to you and knife you. Ts get utility that can stick to walls and be set to trip wire like smokes that froze you. I forget the name tho.. :( also entmod was pretty cool where an admin got a special tool that they could duplicate or move around objects on any map. You could make your own kz map it was pretty fun
