I used to work for McDonalds. There's probably 3 or 4 products every year that are released in limited test markets and generally have minimal to no advertizing. Those products often never see a full release. For example, the Southern Chicken Biscuit was only available in certain areas for a limited time and had minimal promotion. I even went to a giant corporate event as part of training at one point where I learned about several products in other test markets from throughout the previous year that I'd been completely unaware of. As for the McLobster, that has more to do with the logistics of moving fresh lobster around the nation, so it's only available in areas where that is feasible.

I used to work for Wendy's, and there's a similar practice they did there, where they would use a single store in Ohio for things such as, for example, a substitute meat black bean burger. I only learned about it because of someone making that somewhat outlandish request, but it's actually pretty interesting to think that they just have a store they take a lot of risks with and see if a more niche product would succeed on the market.

There is a similar mystery to the Shrimp McBites packaging to be found in the lost Fish McBites lip syncing app. In 2012-2013 McDonald's advertised an app to promote Fish McBites that gave you a variety of mouths that would sing a song about the product. I remember my brother downloading the app on our iPod and one of the mouths singing about Shrimp McBites. I always thought it was weird because the item was never mentioned in the commercial and I never saw it advertised anywhere else. The whole Shrimp McBites thing makes me think about how I was trying to find any information of a promotional ice cream flavor at Baskin-Robbins during the first Shrek movie that I distinctively remember but no one else can seem to, nor does it seem to be in the archived menus: a sort of "Swamp Bugs" ice-cream that was a vanilla ice-cream that was greenish with chocolate pieces in the shape of beetles with green caramel, a sort of Shrek inspired Moose Tracks type ice-cream in a waffle cone I recall eating during a field trip with my fellow peers from Boys and Girls Club in San Diego in the early 2000s. I loved wacky treat ideas, and caramel is my favorite gooey stuff in deserts, and I remember being the only one on the trip that was brave enough to "eat the bugs". I wanted to find a visual of it when discussing Shrek snacks with a friend, and was shocked to find that the ice-cream either wasn't recorded or listed in the promotional materials.

Many of you have probably seen the cringey video where actors from 4kids sang the national anthem as their characters like Sonic, Luffy from One Piece, or Bloom from Winx Club. But I remember that they actually did an updated rendition around 2007-08. With characters from Yu-Gi-Oh and Chaotic. I actually saw it on TV before I saw the KZread upload. I've always wondered if I'd ever be able to find it again and I even made a post on the lost media subreddit, but it didn't get much attention. Oh well, all I can do is spread the word where I can!

Really obscure piece of lost media that's driven me up a wall these last few years because it seems really easy to find is the lost 2019, Japan exclusive My Little Pony manga released by Phase 6. As far as I know, we know nothing about about it itself as a piece of media (writer, artist, plot, etc), but we know exactly when and where it was published. We know what volume it was collected in, but no one has bothered to find that volume and upload at least one image from it. One that I'm rather passionate about is the, as far as I know, lost Astro Boy video game that came out a few years ago called Edge of Time. It was an online only card game featuring a suite of Tezuka characters with a really unusual artstyle. Some art was gangbusters, some was terrible.

Related to the Shrimp McBites: One of my favorite snacks from my early childhood were these baby biscuits made by Alete in collaboration with the Disney Babies franchise. These were sold in Germany in practically any supermarket/grocery/convenience store around the year 2000. I found nothing about these on the internet, not even on the Internet Archive. I could have contacted Alete itself (or other baby/toddler food brands) but I fear they wouldn't know about any former products from them by now anymore or'd be protective of/secretive about their archives. The biscuits themselves were your typical ladyfinger-type biscuits but had either some tiny Disney Babies logo or images along with some having the stylized "Alete" imprinted on them - I don't quite remember. I do know that the package was horizontal and had the stylized "Alete" written in blue with Baby Mickey, Baby Donald, and some other character sitting in front of or even holding some of the ladyfingers next to the aforementioned brand name. It is one of the things from my childhood I remember both fondly and vividly, so the biscuits' existence way back the day is embedded in my brian. Looking for these and finding absolutely nothing is driving me insane. I really wish these is someone else who grew up in circa-2000 Germany having the same or better memories on what I am looking for.

Thank you for exposing Paz to more people. I remember watching that show with Brum right afterwards. (If you don't know who Brum is, you should look into it). I don't remember a whole lot of specific episodes outside of an animated segment of Paz giving a flower bouquet to his mom for mother's day while giving flowers out to his friends until only one was given to his mother. The only puppet bit I remember specifically is where Paz had to button up his pajamas the whole episode and when he did, they were all in the wrong holes. A lost media search that has been personally driving me crazy are the Nickelodeon ads for "The Lost Episode Of Ren and Stimpy" which aired on the network roughly 2 weeks before the ultimate unveiling of the delayed first season episode combo of "Black Hole/Stimpy's Invention". I have been exhaustively documenting and researching every aspect of The Ren and Stimpy Show for over 15 years, and it seems this commercial that I recall seeing at least 10 times during that 2 week interval on the network before Black Hole/Stimpy's Invention aired has vanished into thin air and has never been saved or recorded, or surfaced on KZread, apparently. The episode Stimpy's Invention is one of the most important and pivotal moments of the entire series, due to it's massively troubled production that saw it get delayed for months due to John K's antics which involved everything from constant fights with the network about it's content, to running off with the storyboards and re-drawing them while locked in a separate room at the Spumco animation studio at the last minute instead of sending them out, and many fights between his own staff due to his own demanding nature. It was because of all this that the episode got delayed and forced the creation of this commercial in the first place, which makes it's value significant. Obviously in regards to the story of R&S, this episode and it's development is very important, thus it would be great to finally have a visual record of the advert aired on Nickelodeon for the episode's arrival, but no footage or any of the ad has surfaced, something I would very much want to put into a documentary. The ad as it was, started out with the then prominent Nickelodeon commerical narrator saying "Just when you thought it was lost, Nick found it." and then proceeds to build up the episode as if it was some lost treasure that Nickelodeon found and were about to air as a special. They repeatedly refer to it as "The Lost Episode Of Ren and Stimpy" and asserts that "Only Nickelodeon Can Find What You've Been Looking For", leading to several seconds of the ad giving a preview of the "Happy Happy Joy Joy" song that the eventual released episode featured. When setting out to try and include this in a documentary I was writing and wanted to edit, I found this commercial is nowhere on KZread or the Internet Archive or any other video site. Putting this ad and early preview of one of the most notable episodes of the entire show for reasons both in front of and behind the scenes into such a documentary would be a really huge get, but this advertisement/episode preview appears to be lost forever. I'm just hoping that SOMEONE who videotaped the network, especially around the time that this would have aired, has recorded evidence of it, but to this day I haven't found any.

Yeah, when it comes to northern European children's shows, the find gets hard. I remember Viivi ja Leevi, but found it creepy for some reason. My own Finnish lost media is a tv show I had as a VHS tape. A show about a mime/clown with black and white striped shirt with black overals and red nose entertaining the duo of blond kids in a blue courtyard. He played a saw to them, made shows of him sailing, then it turns into a pencil drawn cartoon of his adventures. It seems to be 70-80's show, due to the artifacting. It is sad how hard it is to find some media in Nordic countries, I have troubles even finding confirmation that Ilkka Villi did the Finnish dubs to Pokemon, when he is known as Alan Wake's protagonist's model.

But what’s interesting is the soundtrack, which was made by Walter Becker and Donald Fagen before they really became Steely Dan, is widely available on KZread/streaming services. However, nothing else besides 2 stills, some posters, and a short audio clip which was on early releases of the album.

Venom was supposed to be scarier, and the movie had an original ending where Eddie Brock is reduced to a skeleton, but was changed because test audiences thought it was too scary.
