I always love how clear and audible the bass tone is in Obscura’s mixes

I disagree. It almost sound “too intentional” if that makes sense? I love good bass tone but it sounds over engineered.

Oh that's why I was like "I'm sure I haven't heard this before but this sounds familiar" :D
The bass player is a killer!!!
Obscura never disappoints. When you’ve got that kind of rhythm section you can pretty much do what you want, and they do it flawlessly.
This entire album is a masterpiece musically and technically. Production is also outstanding, each instrument sounds full and clear. Huge step forward for the band. Deserve all the success they've had and far more.
0:31 love that riff
Diepold is such a fucking beast lol
What a solo bro
Well, that's it. Those are ALL the notes. And in the best possible order. We're done here, good night! 🤘🤘🤘
OBSCURA - The Neuromancer Lyrics I ought to go In wisdom, you will rot In delusive prudence sought I strove towards untold In cognition I behold Lost in reverie, mesmerized I drown Unsealed, adopted creed despoiled In vain revealed, raised fear unsoiled Neuromancer, obsessed, unseen, remote-controlled We are addicted, overdosed in creed Our freedom of faith Worthless science and meaningless greed We are the sainted ones The failed survivors paced into abyss I need to leave in rigor consciousness In deceptive freedom of thought I vowed to comprehend In gnoses, I ascend The final elegy, entranced I disappear Unsealed, adopted creed despoiled In vain revealed, raised fear unsoiled We are addicted, overdosed in creed Neuromancer, obsessed, unseen, remote-controlled We are addicted, overdosed in creed Our freedom of faith Worthless science and meaningless greed
That fretless tone is as MWAH as it gets (this is a Good Thing for you non-bass players out there) and this mix is what you call perfection. Everybody is heard well, there's lots of punch and clarity, just enough warmth for it to not sound too clinical. There's a lot a lot going on here, but there's still structure and coherence as well. Good work, fellows!
Sick tune. It's mindblowing how Christian managed to cope with focal dystonia and still be able to crush it on guitar, the man got strong willpower.

What is focal dystonia?
@Nick91Wolf
Жыл бұрын
@@TerminalM193 that's kind of neurological disorder (maybe because of overpracticing too much) which manifests in muscle spasms in a certain part of a body during specific activities in Christian's case it affects his fretting hand.

The tapping section made my mind go straight to the tapping section in Gorod - Disavow your Gods.
Yesss, favorite track off the album! Love that signature Christian Muenzner neoclassical tech-death sound
If Jaco Pastorius played metal this is what it would sound like. All the bassists know what I am talking about. RIP Jaco

These fretless bass lines are a hallmark in "Obscura". After Steve DiGiorgio; Jeroen Thesseling brings the most sophisticated arrangements of these instruments to the world of metal. Great job, guys!

Perfection!! Can't wait to see them live soon!!!
This is what technical death metal should be. Very fast with Thick distortion and rhythm while finger still dancing in the guitar and bass neck. Most technical death metal band play it so technical till there is too many slow part, djent-like, and lack of rhythm distortion.

I met some metal friends that just came from an Obscura show on the London Underground train to Hounslow and they recommended this band. This is good shit.
Super great technical death metal band coool
The absolute peak of tech
USA tour please. I need to see Obscura masterpieces in person.
Love it. It’s perfect. I can’t wait for the guitar play through video for this song!

I’d argue that is rooted in neo classical guitar work plus it reminds me to one of the tapping sections on Arcturus Prime from Eternity’s End, the power metal band from Christian and i?m quite sure the more i hear this record i tend to find power metal elements from eternity’s end
Bass goes deng!

A very nice content! Like very much this extra melodic lead guitar melodies - it always makes me take my guitar again :D
That opening riff and the way the drums enter reminds me so much of Lamb of God's Laid to Rest. Good shit
I'm so glad to see Christian back in action. Those leads are out of this world.

Best lineup in metal right now? This is basically a supergroup.
I can tell from these riffs and leads that these guys are new to playing their instruments. I could easily fret all of these riffs and solos at double this speed with my wiener while asleep. They shouldn't be discouraged though. With enough practice and patience they can eventually break out of this beginner stage and one day play intermediate level music. And they shouldn't really compare themselves to me, I'm pretty advanced for my age. I was actually the first of all the kids at my skew to get pubes.
