Scott, when I tried your suggestion I could not change any of the IP settings under the Network portion of Advanced Settings. I learned it only works if the virtual camera is off. I stopped the virtual camera, went back to settings, and it worked with no problem. That said, thank you for getting me to the point where I could discover it.

hi i would like to first say thanks for you videos you make i am having a problem streaming to you tube (since update ) i click on stream it asks to manage broad cast i set it up click on remember settings but but theirs nothing to click on like ok or save and i cant stream can you help if i select existing broad cast i click on my whats their it turns blue but still nothing

Thanks for this quick summary. It provides a useful quick check list and also provides some vocabulary/context to be aware of. My question, and where I am lacking in vocabulary is that the persistent stream key does not work for us (perhaps my misunderstanding of what it does). We livestream every week to Facebook. Every week we go into OBS settings and 'get stream key' - it seems to me we are not benefitting from the persistent feature of the stream key. We stream to the same Page but use our individual FB account log ins. What are the prerequisites for using persistent stream key - is it tied to the FB account as well as the page? Why can OBS not 'just be connected' and have a simple interface for title and description' like I think other apps appear to offer? What is the precise vocabulary for these two ways of connecting? I have searched and googled and I haven't found the answers. Thanks and waiting in anticipation for the 'ah ha!' moment coming from your answer! 😁

Hey Pete, a persistent stream key is a alphanumeric string of text that is used to gain access to your streaming URL. When it's persistent that means that code never changes. It's the same code every time. The downsize is that it could impact security if some one gets hold of it. This is why they came up with keys that changes ever time you pick one up. This is what happens when OBS connects automatically. It's grabbing the new key every time.

@@ScottFichter Hey Scott, I missed your reply! In the meantime I have moved over to KZread and OBS has no problem using the same streaming key. So the question still to be answered is how do we get OBS/Facebook to work with the persistent key?

Thanks Joe. I use Camtasia. The transition is just a wind noise with a motion transition that's available with Camtasia.

I had to find an older addition OBS because my older Mac air would only go to 10.15. That fixed my problem!

Why do you suggest NOT using persistent stream key ?

Here's one for you. We use OBS to Livestream to Facebook. We have a wired connection to our router (and can use WiFi but feel wired is better). All of a sudden, we can't stream on our wired connection but can through WiFi. Our Ethernet cable is good; I've checked it on a cable tester and it's fine. I can look at KZread and it's fine. Everything works except OBS which gives error messages and massive dropped frames. Not sure what to look for... any suggestions?

Audio sync was off for me on this clip... the usual good structure and content for the channel.
