Hello Everyone! We are still on Holiday Break for the OBON Season @ A Day With Bec
OBON is a fashion of the ancient Japanese beliefs in ancestral spirits, like in the Philippines where we celebrate All Soul’s Day. OBON occurs in the heat of the summer. The OBON week in mid August is one of Japan’s major holiday season (alongside New Year and Golden Week) The OBON Festival is an annual Japanese Holiday which commemorates and remembers deceased ancestors and relatives. The festival of OBON lasts for three days. However it’s starting date varies within different regions. Here in the Kanto region it starts Aug. 13 to 15 though it will be celebrated between July 13-15 in some places.
So since we are in Chiba, we decided to pass by UMIHOTARU - a place with an ocean view. We are an hour and a half away from Yokohama so we took our time to enjoy this once a year break with the family. UMIHOTARU is a man-made island connecting Chiba and Kanagawa, it is a fascinating spot to rest, eat and shop with a 360 degrees view of the Tokyo Bay Area. The rest area has a unique parking facility that houses five floors of restaurants, shops and observation deck. I enjoyed this day since it’s my first time seeing another side of Japan.
Our next stop after the travel, the heat, the sightseeing it’s time to EAT 😋 So we decided to have an early dinner in KAMIMURA BOKUJYO, an eat all you can yakiniku restaurant. You can reserve a table on line so that’s what we did just to avoid the hustle of waiting and we are lucky to be accomodated. They offer all - you - can - eat or a la carte branded beef, made with special care from the feed at surprisingly low prices. All table touch panel orders (tablet form) , they have salad bar, desserts and drink bar and they also serve Sushi. This is a treat after a long day and we went home with a heavy stomach 😅
