Oboe Reedmaking - The Second Scrape (Something to Crow About!)
In this video Tess and Suzanne show you how to refine the oboe reed after it has already been wrapped and you have completed the basic scrape. This is the third day of reedmaking - the second scrape. This process includes refining the tip, thinning the heart, and making adjustments for pitch. Tess and Suz also cover how to make adjustments to your second scrape and troubleshoot problems.

Thanks! More videos are on the way!
A very good video🙂. I took notes and followed your steps and I actually produced a reed that played. Yay. I'm so happy. I'm not sure if it plays in tune but I suppose using these simple but informative videos I will figure it out.
I have been waiting for this video since the first one came out. It has helped me in improving my reed scraping so much. Thank you!
This is absolutely fabulous and so helpful, thank you so so much for posting!!
So informative! Thank you!
Excellent video! I can highly (!) recommend the "Double Geek" from "Reed Geek" for the final touches on the reed. It's an incredibly fine, accurate little tool for taking off just the right amount of cane without ever having to worry about cutting into the reed or suddenly taking too much off. Try it, you'll like it.
Excellent videos. To how many mm do you gouge?
Do you ever use a file instead of a reed knife?
Anyone how has any idea of where we can purchase the scraping tools?
