I'm legitimately surprised how good obidiah's suit is considering since he only just stole the arc reactor, this is the first time he COULD'VE used it for a test run. And it wiped the floor with tony's suit for a lot of that(and his admittedly inferior arc reactor but still)

I have absolutely no doubt Tony would wipe the floor with Iron Monger here with a proper reactor. He'd have full flight capability, and could take potshots easily while occasionally jumping in on his back to rip out important wires or drop explosives inside. The only reason he had trouble was the power issue, nothing else.

The advantage to the plot was having Tony at SIGNIFICANTLY reduced power… similar to Avengers when the suit absorbs and manifests the lightning from Thor’s hammer. In both cases, the playing field is leveled.

I just think it's weird how Obidiah found out how to build the actual gear so quickly, since I'm pretty sure he never got to test them. Tony had an arc reactor immediately, yet it still took him a while to work out the kinks for, say, flying.

@@GamingWithCalvin1 When Obadiah got a hold of the Mk. I, he had the tech, but not the reactor. He more or less went with the conventional weapon loadout since it doesn't seem to have any special weapons on it. It used solid ammunition and large missiles when Tony used smaller and more targeted weapons and his repulsors. Overall, the only thing special about the new suit was that it moved well. Everything else about it was "knockoff iron man".

That fact that at the end, the Arc Reactor flickered a few times more, like it's telling Tony that he has a much bigger part to play

He died because he was a Man(mortal) I.e couldn’t physically take the toll of the snap and still be alive. Tony Stark doesn’t have to be a god when he can achieve Amazing feats on his own with just being ordinary. That’s why Tony’s not a “super soldier”; his suit isn’t an extension of his might or physical duress, it’s a byproduct of His Mind/His Genius. So no, Tony’s not a god. the size difference in suits is also huge. tony could line up the missile to his eyes while obadoahs face and hand was way further than where the missiles launched. also this is the first time he's ever been in a suit, tony had his for years in civil war

Well Stane is not a trained combatant while Tony at that point in the MCU clearly had training in both fighting and marksmanship. That's what a difference in experience gets you.

Alongside Vulture, Iron Monger is probably my favourite one-time villain in the mcu. He is not complex or anything, he's the perfect straight-forward villain for the movie he's in.

So many villains have been defeated throughout the MCU wish we got to see them all together in one unique avengers film alive in the multiverse

I felt so happy when Obadiah fell in and died. He might've been Tony's father-figure but I seriously hated him for everything he did. Paying the Ten Rings to kill him, paralyzing him and stealing his chest piece, crushing his helmet and trying to shoot him up on the arc reactor roof.

Something that has become blindingly obvious to me during my latest rewatch of “The Infinity Saga” is that Obidiah Stane was ABSOLUTELY a member of Hydra. I’d go so far as to say he was planted in Stark Industries to be Howard Stark’s shadow, and probably provided crucial intel that ultimately led to Howard and Maria’s assassinations. It’s possible in this film he was striking out on his own, making a play for his own ambition, not following Hydra’s master plan, but you listen to the things he says about “Steering the world back on course, with the balance of power in OUR hands….” and I think to myself, that could have just as easily been a line from Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

I’ve always found it really funny that the Mark III armour had a sophisticated operating system controlled by an even more sophisticated ai, and yet the iron monger has a far more rudimentary setup in comparison. Just a simple way to show how Tony was decades ahead

I like how Tony is closer and Obadiah's iron suit is stronger and he's farther from the whatever electricity laser beam but Tony survives.

I’d chalk it up to the fact that while Iron Monger is a stronger suit, it’s still primitive like the suit Tony built to escape the cave. Tony’s Mark 2, 3… whatever suit in the scene is likely insulated against electricity. Not to mention, the arc reaction is nearly depleted, where the one in the Iron Monger suit isn’t, and overloads.

I get wym but in reality I think he could because his later suit designs not only improved firepower and accuracy but his strength as well. Although size wise they'd all be much smaller compared to monger, the type of armor used and increased durability would ultimately make tony stronger as well. So if Tony went head to head using only his fists or blunts objects he very well could take the monger down, he'd just have to be strategic about it. Even the biggest enemy has weak spots, so tony would likely have to exploit them.

Want to know one of the best played villains in the, mcu, think it's thanos or hela? No it's right here, Jeff Bridges was so good in this.

This is the original scene. You are referring to the deleted scene. You can look it up on youtube. It was in the original script and the book adaption. Presumably it was cut for time or dissatisfaction with the scene.

I recall in a deleted scene from Iron Man 2 where Tony is able to open his entire suit for an easy exit, like to think after this fight he makes it where he can quickly escape his suit rather than having to remove it piece by piece.

One thing I don't get is how the Arc reactor explosion did not kill Tony or Pepper. Pepper was literally in the same room. An explosion like that would probably take out Tony as well.

She booked it before the reactor overloaded. Tony was mostly shielded by the solid roof

@@matthewhelland9258 he got thrown free by the initial blast, stane ate the whole thing because of his heavier suit

As much as Iron Man is beloved. It was still a skybeam that won the day😅.

0:20 the sounds that come from iron man's suit was actually reused in the iron man 2 PSP game . You hear it when iron man gets squeezed by crimson Dynamo in the game
