Let's check out the newly released O30S Handheld Game Console!
In my opinion, this is a welcome addition to the never-ending number of RK3326 chip based retro handhelds that have been released within last few years. This one is basically a horizontal R36S produced by what seem to be the very same people. It's actually a direct clone of the Anbernic RG350MP from what I'm told. Capable of netplay with dual systems utilizing a wifi dongle.
The face buttons feel much better than the R36S; Easy to press, but nice and punchy. So do the shoulder buttons. L & R use surprisingly quiet microswitches and feel great. L2 & R2 make a bit more noise despite seemingly using the same microswitches. I believe it has something to do with the trigger snap-back and I think it can be remedied easily for anybody it might bother with a simple DIY. They’re fine just how they are for me.
The only downside to this whole console is that the d-pad’s lacking that proper pivot, whilst resting on top of what feels like a really nice conductive membrane. It works surprisingly well for lacking what I consider an essential element of a directional pad. For most games it feels even better than the R36S d-pad, which does have a decent pivot, but the O30S membranes feel much better. The d-pad is a pretty standard size and it can likely be swapped out or just have a DIY pivot added to it. It would be another relatively simple mod.
Final thoughts: I’m happy to see an RK3326 horizontal device running ArkOS with the buttons and sticks just where I like them to be. The plastic feels premium and the layout is perfect. The screen looks amazing and the buttons feel great. If it wasn’t for the lack of a simple pivot on the d-pad this would be an all-around solid device! With a couple small mods I think this device is capable of being a banger. The price just needs to drop to $35-$40US. If this comes down to similar prices as the R36S I think it’s a great buy. Give it a little time and I’m sure it will.

So yeah… the game count was right there in front of my eyes.. I know. 🤦🏻♂️ It’s okay to laugh. There’s a lot going on when filming and looking at multiple screens while trying to stay on point and I’m still new at this. So, I’ve been communicating with the actual manufacturer of the O30S. Retro Game Supermarket is the name of their official AliExpress store. a.aliexpress.com/_mKVgmI4 They are going to work on improving the dpad pivot on the next wave of O30S consoles made. They are pretty cool… And that boot logo I thought looked familiar at the start up of the device is the profile image for their WhatsApp number. I didn’t realize it was them at the time. They are also asking for other color recommendations from my viewers. Let me know your thoughts and stay tuned. (For those who say there is no reason to produce another RK3326 chip device… I disagree. These play the retro games most of us want to play… and they play them well. Why not enjoy the option of other designs, quality and form factor, the same way people do with cars and many other products that have similar performance? If you keep pushing for more capable chips that’s cool, but you’re no longer going to be in it for the retro games… That’s what I’m here for, although this company does have quite a few prototypes for devices with more powerful chipsets they shared with me anyway. Always exciting to me. Let’s just enjoy this little wave of nostalgia while it lasts and minimize the negativity whenever possible. I’d appreciate it.

This system reminds me of the RGB10S maybe crossed with a RG351p. I wish they could have put a 3566 in this. I think Darkwing on the Gameboy is the same as the NES; I believe it was a Mega Man game that was changed or never released.

It does have a very similar design, without the wide screen.
Do you have an RG35XXH? Would be interesting to see a side by side and a little comparison of them. Shame about the pivot though. Also the sd card sticking out like that is horrible.

Yeah, check out my dusty 35xxh comparison right around the 20:40 mark. I didn't even realize about the SD cards, but you're right. When unboxing with these lights and a camera in front of me I miss some things on my initial assessment.

I think the R50S got scrapped. The listings all disappeared, then these listings started showing up. Let me know if you come across any current listings of the R50S. I'm curious what happened with it.

@@OGTechNick There are issues with the button production but should be available soon. The pre-listings are all pre-sale so when they realize that it was delayed they put them down.
Could you please do a vid on how to install different OS/frontend on the E6 plus? Preferably step by step for computer illiterate dumbasses like myself 🙏 I just got an E6 plus (my first emulation handheld) and have no idea what I'm doing....

I’ve been working with the E6 Plus for a while and am having some (multiple) issues, mainly with the Android side. They sent one version I had set it up beautifully with 2 different Linux OS and I had Android configured and working even better. It was great, then it died on me. Don’t ask me how or why. That took about 2 weeks of my life. Now they sent another one and it’s completely different. I had high hopes for the E6 Plus video, but worst case scenario I’ll at least show how to flash CHAOS by @HackAround to a card and get it working on the device.

@OGTechNick yeah I sorta got screwed with mine, pretty sure it's got the old OS and mine only came with a 128g card in the ext slot (nothing in internal slot)

No, it is not, as it uses a different processor. If at all it would be another clone of the Odroid Go Advance, which was the first handheld based on the rk3326.
Mine arrived this weekend too. I went with Orange and so far I am mostly impressed too. My D Pad has some weird stick drift going on randomly but other than that if the price can drop below the RG35xx H then this might be another R36S winner

Cool bud. How do you like the way the orange color turned out? I was torn between the orange and the red. I think the plastic has a nice feel to it. That's a bummer about the dpad. I'm going to attempt swapping it out out for one with a better central pivot.
