O2Y winter 2024「Technical race / Elite&Open」2024.1.20 (Sat.)
この夏に開催される沖縄本島ー与論島まで約30km外洋ダウンウインド、アイランドクロッシングレースの国内選手選考会が沖縄県名護市で開催されました。国内トップ選手、そして海外からも参加がありとても迫力と見応えのあるレースになりました。僕は選手としてだけでなく、主催運営スタッフとしても準備と後片付けに大忙しでした。
家族で主催運営するKANAKA沖縄外洋レースは今年で10年目を迎え、僕たちが育ったこの村では初めてスポーツイベント開催となりました。今回は発電機を使わず全て電気自動車で電力をまかない、山の湧き水で美味しいコーヒーのサービス、そして祖母や地元の方たちが鳥汁を炊き出してくれました。
名護副市長はじめ多くのボランティアの皆さん、スポンサーの皆さん、本当にありがとうございました。エコで楽しいSUPイベントを通して世界中の仲間をこの綺麗な海に集まってもらえたら嬉しいです。夏の本戦が今からワクワクしています。

O2Y winter / The domestic athlete selection event for this summer's 30km open ocean downwind and island crossing race from Okinawa's main island to Yoron Island was held in Nago City, Okinawa Prefecture. It was a race with very powerful waves, with top domestic athletes and even participants from overseas. I was very busy preparing not only as a player but also as a member of the organizing staff.
This time, we did not use a generator and used an electric vehicle to supply electricity for the entire event. We served delicious Nespresso coffee using mountain spring water, and my grandmother cooked chicken soup for all the athletes.
Thank you very much to all the volunteers, including the deputy mayor of Nago, and to all the sponsors. I would be happy if friends from all over the world could gather in this beautiful Okinawa Ocean. I can not wait for the summer races in the end of June!!
