O2Y winter 2024 - Behind the Scenes -
僕は小学校に入学した年からずっとKANAKA沖縄外洋ダウンウインドレースに出てきました。最初は初心者クラスでしたが小学3年生から大人DWレースに混ざって、前を行くお父さん、そして先輩たちの背中を必死に追いかけながら強くなってきました。
僕がこのO2Yへかける想いは、世界大会で金メダルにかける気持ちと同じくらい、僕や妹たちが育つこの海を、ずっと守っていきたいという気持ちです。
たくさんのO2Yボランティアのみなさん、同じ海を渡る仲間、何より毎日一緒に海に出てくれるお父さん、海遊びする妹、陸で見守ってくれるお母さんに感謝しています。これまでの10年間は相当楽しかったですが、これからの10年間はもっと楽しみです。

I have been participating in the KANAKA Okinawa Open Ocean Downwind Race ever since I entered elementary school. At first, I was in the beginner's class, but from my third year on, I joined the adult DW race, and I became stronger as I desperately followed my father and the seniors in front of me.
My thoughts on O2Y are:
Just like my desire to win a gold medal at the world championships, I have a strong desire to protect the ocean where my sisters and I grew up.
I am grateful to all the volunteers involved in O2Y, my friends who cross the same ocean, my father who goes out to sea every day to train with me, my little sister who plays in the sea, and my mother who watches over me from land. The past 10 years have been a lot of fun, and I'm looking forward to the next 10 years even more.
