Stream the newest Christmas album from the Choir, O Holy Night: tabernaclechoir.ffm.to/holynight
In the fall of 1847, a French wine merchant, Pierre Cappeau, was asked by his local priest to write a Christmas poem. Not long after, Cappeau showed this poem, “Minuit, chrétiens,” to the famed French composer Adolphe Adam, and within a few days Adam had composed a musical setting for it. Cappeau took the new song back to his home town of Roquemaure, where it was first performed at a midnight Mass on Christmas Eve, 1847. The standard English translation, by the American Unitarian minister and music critic John Sullivan Dwight, dates from 1855. “O Holy Night” is one of the most dramatically beautiful Christmas carols ever penned but is unfortunately performed only rarely because of the melody’s extended range. This resplendent arrangement by Mack Wilberg, originally written especially for The Tabernacle Choir and The King’s Singers, was published in 2009.

There's no better time than now. True peace and salvation can only be redeemed through Christ. I spent years searching for it, and it was only when I did precisely this that I started to see my prayers answered. 🙏
This is my the first of my 41 years to have found God. It’s like I’m hearing this song for the first time, tears can’t stop pouring out of me. There is no greater joy than to close your eyes and know that you are loved beyond comprehension, infinitely, by the Highest Power. What a priceless gift we are given!! 🙌

This hymn became more popular after it was sung in the ‘ Home alone’ movie. A lovely one.
I am Japanese. I spent my junior high and high school years at a Christian school. Although I was not a devout believer, many hymns have stuck with me even now as an adult. This song is my favorite and I listen to it often. It's a very nice chorus. thank you.

It may be significant for me as this phrase has played over and over in my head for the last month. Not sure why. I don't remember hearing it in ages. At first I couldn't remember what song it came from but finally remembered. I've lost my hearing so it's wonderful that it plays in my head. I had forgotten the lyrics so looked them up and they are so meaningful. Thanks for your post-I need to fall on my knees before my God.
This,to me,is the most beautiful song of all time.I can never hold back tears when they sing "Christ is the Lord!Praise his name forever!😌🙏

One of the most beautiful Christmas song. Jesus Christ born to save all who believe in Him.

The melody and song are beautiful and I truly believe the reason this song touches people is because it’s about Christ. Regardless of what or who we believe now, the day will come that every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus truly is the Christ, our Savior, our Redeemer, The Mighty God. There is no other name whereby men can be saved, only in and through Christ.
I lost my Mother 2 in a half years ago. And this time of year is very hard for me. This is my first time watching this and oh how beautiful
I forget how much I love this one until I get to hear it again. Really instills the wonder and glory of Christ in my heart.

My sister Cherie sang this song many years ago when she was 9 years old in front of an audience of hundreds. She died in 1995 at 38 years old and I miss her greatly. We were 11 months apart and had quite a childhood together. This performance is divine and I listen to it often. It is a beautiful song sang by a beautiful choir and I am inspired by it.

So sorry.....
The Lord sure does work miracles. My Mother was diagnosed with sepsis back in June or July. She was guaranteed to die while she still told me it was okay from the hospital, telling me not to panic. I stayed with my brother for a few days as she was asked if any of her family were going to see her; she was on the verge of death. Minutes from it until she made a full recovery in hospital and has come home. If she hadn’t made it to hospital in time, she wouldn’t have went. She always brushes off these things and i thank God himself for holding my Mother into your arms and giving her a chance of healing. I pray that this horrible experience never comes back to her. Protect her, my Lord for she is worthy of life. Amen.
This is one of the most beautiful things I have ever heard. Praise Jesus our Savior forever.
All praise and glory to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who was born and lived and died to redeem us all to the Father. No one has had an impact on the world so much as Jesus. May we glorify Him daily.

There IS "something"...or rather Someone up there. And although even if it may indeed be true that you have done some bad,it is NEVER too late,as long as you are still breathing. And the fact you now recognize the "some bad", is an excellent way to begin to turn it all around.
"Christ is the Lord; O praise His name forever!" tears just keep flowing with this line alone.
I remember being 4 years old in 1954 and visiting The Tabernacle and being able to hear a pin drop from the other end of the room Oh Holy Night is my favorite Christmas Song

I thank God I have been able to hear them twice in person. Once in 2012, when they performed in Phoenix. The other time was at their Christmas concert in 2015. As great as they sound on KZread, they are that much better in person. I certainly hope I get to see them at least once more before I leave this earth (I am not a young man).

I wonder if it’s because it is about Christmas Eve when Christ was born, and we go to church in the morning. Not sure, but this is a beautiful version. I am not sure what a more hymnal traditional version is like. Seems to me that I have seen it in a hymnbook or somewhere before. I am going to look in my old one. Maybe they felt only a beautiful choir could do it justice. But there are lots of good singers. Our ward and stake choirs do sing songs that are not in the hymnbook, and now and then they sing one from it, too.

O Holy Night! The stars are brightly shining It is the night of the dear Savior's birth! Long lay the world in sin and error pining Till he appear'd and the soul felt its worth. A thrill of hope the weary soul rejoices For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn! Fall on your knees Oh hear the angel voices Oh night divine Oh night when Christ was born Oh night divine Oh night divine Led by the light of Faith serenely beaming With glowing hearts by His cradle we stand So led by light of a star sweetly gleaming Here come the wise men from Orient land The King of Kings lay thus in lowly manger In all our trials born to be our friend Truly He taught us to love one another His law is love and His gospel is peace Chains shall He break for the slave is our brother And in His name all oppression shall cease Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we, Let all within us praise His holy name
So beautiful. It calms the raging heart.

*** I toured the empty Tabernacle in Utah with my parents, IMPRESSIVE. The wood pipes were painted gold. We were Catholics, and lived in Michigan. We listened to the radio broadcast on Sunday mornings as my Mom made Sunday dinner. We went to church earlier. *** We were waiting for my Dad to finish ushering the late mass (did so for 27 years). We would always tease him with the flat joke, "Were you late from counting all the money ??" My dad was like, whatever. *** THANKS, I NEEDED TO REMINISCE THIS DURING THE CHRISTMAS SEASON OF 2023, ALONE IN TEXAS. I'm 65 y.o. now. :'--/
This is so beautiful
I'm excited for Christmas for you
