nzxt H440 case mod
This build Log is surely missing alot of pix as the mod was rushed in the end.
Did it for a nice friend though. Except drill machine no machines were used ( didn't have any ) so the pics might reflect that
Apologies
For bad quality pix ( I love sharing and take pix as good as i can but i am stuck with a bad cell phone atm and m bad at taking pics too )
&
For the missing pics specially at the MOD end part, those would have explained better how it was finalized.
Case was shipped by the seller directly to me so i took some pics before starting the work to let my friend know of the wear n tear/ scratches already present .

    Got some good ideas from the video! Thank you! Am about to mod a H440 for a client so it was good to see how someone else approached the mod. Great work and love the vinyl wrap you did!

    DIY Tech awesome! i've subbed too, i'll be sure to check out the next project :) if you don't mind me asking, where did you get the plexiglass from and how much do you think it'd cost me to do something similar?

    Thanks for subbing i hope i will keep you entertained here :) I Bought it from a local store. Its a 4mm one costed around 4$ for footxfoot piece. For this mod i bought a 2x2 feet piece for my window mod and for the PSU cover and drive bay area bought 0.5x3 feet piece. The price may vary alot depending on manufacturer and thickness of acrylic. 4mm is enough thick n strong for any PC case mod. Rest is carbon fiber vinyl and its around 1$ for footxfoot piece.

    The mods you did for this case is what NZXT should be doing to improve this case. The thing that stands out to the most is removing that drive cage wall. Yuck. Now it's the H440 Elite. I'm gonna be following this route and adding cutouts on the front panel and top.

    That drive cage made it look like a cheap Chinese low budget case. Do checkout my build about s340 elite it might give u some more ideas about modding or might help u avoiding a mistake. Thanks for stopping by and your comment , its very appreciated.

    Just as a question, how did you attach the back thing that's connected to the motherboard? Did you drill some holes and screw it on? Secondly, Is that all acrylic? Thanks for sharing this awesome mod!

    ( All this explanation is for the rectangular plate left to the fans or you can say the area where the casing has drive bay rack ) AT 2:52 you can see the 2 bottom screws of that back thing. I used a total of 4 screws to hold it in place, just like the 2 at bottom two are at top. And that piece is all acrylic covered in carbon fiber vinyl. I drilled 3.5mm holes in the acrylic piece but i didn't drill in metal instead i used the stock holes that were already present there to hold the drive rack in place. You can look at the stock holes in metal @ 1:23 ( right side of black rubber grommets )

    In case you asked about the Motherboard tray only, then there is no acrylic on that i just wrapped it in carbon-fiber vinyl.

    I'm confused, How is that side panel window so big? Mine only covers about 2/3 of the panel, yours is huge and i love the look

  • @DIYTech21

    @DIYTech21

    Side panel is all made up of 4 mm Plexiglas ( its all made up of Plexiglas i removed the old one completely as it was easy to make new one than to modify and cut the old metal one ). Then i added White carbon fiber vinyl at the borders to give it a neat look and blend it in with the rest of the case.

    look at 0:49, I actually drilled out all the rivets head. That picture is of all the rivets's heads that were drilled. Rivet head has small hole in it. U need to expand and deep that whole with drill bit and it will come off easily. Will make a proper tutorial next time( if i got a case to mod completely ) this project was done for a friend and at that time pics were taken only yo show him the progress. Please dnt consider this one as a tutorial/guide. However you are welcomed to ask more question and i will be glad to help

    I know this video is 3 old now, but I’m an owner of a H440 and was wondering if removing the HDD cage compromized the structual integrity in any way? Like did it make the case wobly or unstable in any way?

  • @DIYTech21

    @DIYTech21

    Not at all. The case boundaries/ frame is very solid.

  • @DIYTech21

    Also its just rivets out so if u feel its wobly u can put it back in by rivets or even m3 nuts bolts. But believe me it was solid enough that u wont even feel it.

    That is acrylic buddy. The acrylic has protective cover on it "" thats what that brown thing is" Under that protective sheet is the acrylic. Sometimes this cover is transparent or blue, but its just to avoid scratches on the acrylic and once we have cut and done with the modding we remove this cover.

    Sorry, let me rephrase my sentence. Do you create side panels like this one on demand? how much would it cost?

  • @DIYTech21

    @DIYTech21

    7 жыл бұрын

    Its just a 4 mm acrylic sheet ( Plexiglas kind ) with carbon fiber vinyl borders. I would love to make one for you but shipping and customs all that will cost you so much that you might be able to buy a whole new case in that price. Its really simple and easy to make i apologize for not providing a good tutorial. This Modding project was done for a friend and the pix were taken just to show him the progress. But once i revived my channel i shared it here to give people some idea what i do :P However the side panel is really simple to make. 1. Just get the Plexiglas sheet of desired thickness ( 4mm is the minimum u should go for, the thicker the stronger ) and desired Width x height ( what ever case you have ) 2. Add some hinges so that you can screw in the panel just like your default panel ( see the video at 3:11 the left most side of the panel has 2 small hinges help in holding the panel safe and secure ) Again apologize for not giving a better picture ( my friend sold that case or would have helped you with better pic to give u a better idea ) 3. Cut carbon fiber vinyl strips and make a border to give it a nice look. I would be modding some case and will make a tutorial ( A better one ) Just need some time as working on 2 tech projects currently that are lenghty as hell.
