Media is overblowing this. Carolina is a very good team, and nobody expected us to sweep or even finish this in 5. I always thought it would go 7. If we win it in 6, I am thrilled with that outcome. If it gets to 3-3, you can start to worry. But it's 3-2 Rangers. That means we have the edge and are the mathematically odds on favorite to win. All time, the team up 3-2 goes on to win 79% of the time (351-93). But changes do need to be made. If you are just going to leash Rempe, sit him. Otherwise play him, and let him fight Burns or D'Angelo. Dress Chytl and Wheeler. Even at 75% those guys are a net positive (Chytl scored 22 goals last season, he's a good player). Dress Jones and run 7 d-men. Play a gritty, nasty game and draw 4 or 5 penalties. We need a LOT more from our bottom 6. A timely goal from Kakko, Wennberg, Roslovic, Cuylle and Vesey. All of these guys collectively are invisible. Yes we need more from our big guys, but they are the ones that got us to 3-0. Eventually you need SOMETHING from your depth players. Depth or being on the 4th line doesn't mean it's okay to never score. Kakko more than anyone else's job is on the line in the next 2 games. Lafreniere has stepped up his game, Kakko is in his 6th season and still fails to make an impact. Were he playing at 75% of Lafreniere's level, this series would've been over if we'd had one more forward really grinding out there.

@@CITYWorker-eh3zf Not with the history of Rangers performances in game 7 at the Garden and Carolina's atrocious road history, that is not a foregone conclusion at all. Wouldn't surprise me if the Rangers got outshot 45-28 in a potential game 7 and Igor stopped 44 leading to a 2-1 win anyway. We have such a strong edge in goaltending that if the Rangers even put forth a B- or C+ effort, we can still steal one.

They are literally only halfway there, this hasn't even been pushed to 7 yet, so you are making a huge leap, "my dude." There are constant momentum swings. Carolina was the #3 team in the league and #2 team in the conference. Nobody in the NHL was sweeping them or beating them in 5.

Intensity and Consistency when you have both you have a great Chemistry.

Jones proved this past season that he is the present and future. Lavi is the one that brought Gus here. I doubt Lavi would sit a veteran over a non-starter. I wish he would though…

My question is what did you learn from reviewing the tape of the last game? His answer would reveal the areas he is most concerned about which appears to be the team is not expending the effort or desire needed to win in the playoff. So the next question would be, so what can you do to change that team mindset to inspire this team????

With all the Betting lines,this I'm sure influenced the Officiating.

Why is this team so reluctant to take Gustafsson out and replace him with Jones. I don't understand the philosophy here. The coach goes back to it's original pairings during the year, and we all know that Miller and Trouba don't have Chemistry , hence why a change was made late in the season. The Rangers have Jones who makes a great 1st pass sitting in the press box and is most likely better than Trouba or Gustafasson. Am I missing something here, because this just does not add up.

NYR fans are so weird. Jones had a somewhat decent 10 game stretch, while he's been awful the rest of his NHL career. He hasn't played in over a month. Game 6 is a near must win. This is not the time to put him in the game. Gus really hasn't been bad. Jones is obviously not better than Trouba in any category before we even start to talk about left vs right handed. There's another team on the other side of the ice, and they're a pretty darn good team. Losing one 1 goal game, and having one bad 6-minute stretch does not warrant any kind of significant shake up, like benching your darn captain, the game after he scores a nice shorty......

I agree. It's obvious that Gustafsson is a turnover machine. Jones is a mini Fox. So smart. Moves the puck so quickly.

People are just overthinking this, fans, non-fans and analyst. It's hockey, win number four is always the hardest, you will always get the opponents best shot. And guess what, we still should have won both game 4 and 5 had it not been for a slow start and dumb penalty in game 4 and just stupid line change, turnovers and effort in the first ten min of the third period of game 5. The Rangers had two days to discuss, figure out the issues, settle down and get back on track. We didn't win the presidents trophy because this team let a loss bother them.

We had two days to let this last loss settle. I feel the two days off came at the right time. If you think about it, especially the last game, we handed them the game with stupid turnovers, stupid line changes, stupid penalty by Lindgren. I am sure we took the time to discuss and correct these things, correct our approach, and we will have a much better game. Also, we have the better GK. Anderson is a soft goal waiting to happen, Shesti has yet to make a critical mistake. Also, we beat this team the first 3 games, it don't matter if it was by one goal or multiple, when the pressure was on, Canes couldn't beat us. When they went down 3-0 I'm sure they played with no pressure, nothing to lose attitude and they still barely beat us. Guess what, now they are back in the series but still down 3-2. The pressure is not just on us, it is back on them again, especially them being at home. I honestly feel we will take the game tomorrow.

Ya Have 2 tries to win ONE game.. LGR! 🙌🏻

Last two years we have gone through this garbage. Up 2-0 and then lose the series (Tampa one year, Devils the next). This year we were up 3-0!! I know history repeats itself, but this is getting ridiculous. Come on Rangers! LGR!!!

We need to stop playing back while winning. We need to keep the pressure on like the first 3 games. I haven’t seen the 1 3 1 defense in the last 2 games. This has been a joke the past 2 games. Take Eric G out of the line up. Something needs to change big time or this will be such a collapse. Playing soft not trying to get in the way to stop a shot and shit. It’s driving me crazy

Does starting Quick in game 6 send the correct message to the team? I think it might. Also, start and favor 3rd and 4th lines unless the fittest two demonstrate their prowess.

For all you arm chair coaches ive going to games since i was 4yrs old and im 61 now . Seen more dissapointing games games than most seen games period ! The common logic is you should have played Quick in gm 4 after2 OT games. Going with Quick on Thurs , should the Rangers lose YOU A WELL RESTED SHESTY FOR GAME 7....... Did you watch the game? The first goal against us in game five was due to Mika taking his sweet ass time to jump off the ice and Kreider aimlessly sending the puck to mid ice. The second one was Panaran not back checking strong enough to clear the rebound, what was worse about that is he was I position and still got beat. The third was Troubas turnover. So tell me, how was it Shesterkin fault? Shesti has yet to give up a soft one, the closest one was the pp goal we gave up, and even they was Lindgrend fault for taking a dumb Penalty after screwing up the clearance.

Let’s ask this ? Rempe ain’t there to score and we all know why he’s there. So 3 different Canes get in his face when we hold a 1-0 lead. One good fight 5 mins in the box for both and it becomes a fire under the Rangers ass and the stadium goes nutz. So tell me why we are being pushed around. Tell me why this coach thinks that the nice guy approach is working. Damnit man use the kid for what he’s built for at the right time. Stop being such a bunch of wimps !!!
