My Father was a Cop in the 75th precinct in the late 70s through the eighties when The Crime was terrible in NYC. I remember him getting home at 3 in the morning and watching him from the top of the stairs sitting in the living room Crying a few times. I would run downstairs and give him a Huge Hug and say I love you daddy not letting him know I saw him crying. After I Graduated College and he was retired I told him I saw him Crying a few times after work and asked him why. He told me some of the things he saw and went through were really terrible and he then told me that what made him carry on was me hugging him when he got home telling him I love him. I told him I figured he needed a Hug and he started crying.

Swap that intro to “you’re locked in, with Ian Bick” and it’s gold.

What do you know about police work as a wife. Give me a break.
Most of the police I've ever worked with, I've asked them 3 questions... - "What was the worst..." - "What was the craziest..." - "What was the funniest..." call that they had been on.
I was once in jail detoxing, my BP was 192/134...! They sent me back to my cell and was told to pay down and sleep...!?! Didn't even give me a Tylenol or anything...!?! I'm glad I'm sober now...!!!

Thank you for both of yoy talking about mental health. I fought going for PTSD for years and finally being so emotionally fucked I went. It saved my life. In turn it showed guys around me that it Wasn't some weak shit to get help. I had 3 different phone calls of suicidal friends in the middle of the night and each one said they called because they knew I came out the darkness they were in. I spent hours with them and had them in a therapist/trauma specialist office in a day. If you're in this situation, you're not alone and you are cared for. We need to change fiest responder stigma on getting help. I know of cops who were scared to lose their jobs because of PTSD from seeing dead kids, victims of gang R@pe and other horrific shit.
Ian another great interview with Steve. Steve thanks for doing this interview with Ian. Great Job. Agree everyone has a past and shouldn't be looked at for their past but looked at for what they are doing now and what they have planned for the future.

Ian , this one helped me so Much !!!
As someone who’s been on the other side of the game and understands the roles that we play; this guy is the type of officer who deserves respect on that base human level. He’s one of the few speaking real ass honest shit and the type we as a country need more of. ACAB is bullshit. We’re all human and have our part to play; but if you can’t respect that then you shouldn’t be playing.

Really? Nice for a cop means they only watch their fellow officers beat people and make up charges and turn a blind eye. Great people. Fuck all Cops. I don't care if a Nazi saved puppies. I don't care if a Cop plays basketball with some urban teens for a photo op. Best they can be is neutral unless they are constantly calling out their department which will get them fired because ACAB.

So- hear me out. I hear “if you’re polite to me I’ll give you a warning, if you’re rolling your eyes I’ll hit you hard”- but what in the world lol. In no way should a community member be expected to act completely respectful with officers. The driver may have had a difficult interaction with officers previously- allow them to feel that. Especially today, it is more than fair for the community to be a bit uptight during traffic stops. Do you know what doesn’t help the community regain trust in police? Getting a ticket when you should be getting a warning because you didn’t make the officer feel real nice about himself. You have no idea what someone went through that day, it might not even be something personal to the officer. Quite literally the only person in that interaction that is EXPECTED to be polite regardless, is the officer, and to hear that you might get a harsher ticket or a ticket at all, because of the officers perceived idea of your “ attitude”? That’s wild. Be better Anyways LOVE THE PODCAST IAN XOXOX

My cousin worked at 75.. the motto was "give us 22 minutes we'll give you a homicide":
The thing about officers having a quota is they have the power to ruin someone life. So if they need one extra arrest before the end of the month they’re gonna go looking for the pettiest thing to arrest someone for. Thats the issue with officers being expected to get so many arrests etc. it shouldnt be forced
@goodvibez598
Жыл бұрын
It is completely sick that this quote even exists and and the absolutely opposite purpose of a police officer
@iracecrappycars
Жыл бұрын
I think you may have misunderstood what he said, there is no quota. There is no "you need to make 30 arrests a month". There is however a performance expectation. If you are only making 1 arrest a month, or writing only a couple tickets a month, you are clearly not doing your job. Officers are compared to others and the number of complaints that come in. If everyone else is arresting 20 people a month and you arrest 2 or 3, clearly you are doing something wrong.
@HoffyRS
Жыл бұрын
@@iracecrappycars i know he said they technically dont have a quota but in a way they do.
@iracecrappycars
Жыл бұрын
@@HoffyRS I don't think you got it, there is no "in a way". They are expected to do their job. They aren't looking for "1 more arrest to make 30". If everyone is arresting 9 people a month and you are doing 7, theres leeway allowed. Nobody is telling you, go find 2 more arrests.

😮I was falsely arrested for alleged DUI by two very corrupt Alachua County Sheriff's deputies and I had the proof with me in court and the crooked judge refused to allow me to refer to the evidence, and my public pretender attorney refused to introduce the evidence, even though he was the one who discovered an anomaly in the breath test results! It has been more than five years since my arrest and I still don't have my license back. I am essentially a prisoner in my own home with no social life! I turned 77 years old in jail because the arrest report said I was driving with no headlights whatsoever at 2:19 AM. You can see my passenger side headlight lighting up the road in front of me like high noon in their dashcam video! The first deputy who pulled me over, created a second lie out of whole cloth to bolster his first lie, which absolutely required criminal intent on his part! He had been behind me the whole way. His backup deputy told him I had a headlight out. He must have asked which one, and the backup might have said something mildly confusing like "well, it was the one on my right." First guy heard right, and never even thought that the backup came in southbound as we were headed north. So the one on his right would have been my driver's side! But that a guy thought passenger side, and the said he first noticed me as he was headed Eastbound as I was headed northbound. Oops. That would have given him a clear and unobstructed view of the front of my car, and he would have known which headlight had been sacrificed to a dead deer a week or two earlier.... I bought four drinks and never finished the last one, and was in the bar from 7 PM to 2 AM. There are calculators online that say to get to a Blood Alcohol Level of ,120, which is what the Intoxilyzer 8000 said is what I blew, would have required fourTEEN drinks for a 220 lb male over a seven hour period, not four! That equipment requires deep lung air for an accurate result. So the operator unplugged the machine, and changed the breathing instructions to completely eliminate that Alveolar air. Total fraud!!!! Criminal intent required!!!! I want millions of dollars in compensation!!!!
Like the video so this channel can grow 👍👍👍
How do you get these guests? Did you meet them in the past? Or are they reaching out to you because you have a platform and they want to talk?. I think it’s you wanting to interview them absolutely. But how do you find out about this one? Police officer? I know how you find out about big Lance or other criminal type people by it I was always curious how Theo Von and all these people find people to interview. A lot of comics interview other comics and I listen to those all the time. Bert Kreischer, Bill Burr, Tom Segura Theo, Von etc. ever since Covid happened the podcast seem to have really expanded and oh yeah I forgot about Joe Rogan and I listen to locals like Milwaukee’s very own, Mark Belling very smart Man, met him many times and listen to his podcast daily. I like to hear a little bit about everything. Stories from someone’s career and life are very interesting but also someone’s opinions on everything in life is awesome as well. I don’t really have time to sit down and converse eight with people as I work for different jobs and so I listen to everything as I’m working my main job
