    This was a great beginners kit for a great price. kzread.infoUgkxKRURvLsu9Vvyw7gIuvt8FsApoQNCdz-1 Its given us a huge variety to test out and see what works well and what we like to use. Majority of the flies have stayed together well, but some of the rainbow warriors did unravel after catching a few blue gill. All in all, this was a great kit and are so happy with the purchase and value for money.

    Great top up for this spring …your videos are always worth revisiting. Great lesson on how NOT to react to a fish that’s nipping the fly but not taking it. It’s so tempting to strike at the first touch but patience pays off! Keep up the great work Tim.

    I think that's a great suggestion. We all kind of know what to do when things are going well. It's when nothing is happening that we need guidance on the thought process/structure of what we should be going through; how often to change fly, depth, position, etc.

    I really enjoy your fishing videos, you are very informative and very skilled. Watching your videos has taught me how to fish buzzers and nymphs better. However, I have trouble using Shipmans, I know of guys who are using nothing else and catching plenty of fish. Could you do a video on using Shipman buzzers please? Should it be fished strictly as a dry or as a buoyant wet? Gink or no gink? Singly or as part of a team? Thanks

  • @timjoyceflyfishing-essex6769

    @timjoyceflyfishing-essex6769

    Жыл бұрын

    As with any fly there is no 'right or wrong' way of fishing it . Shipmans or crippled midge patterns make excellent dries when the fish are high and feeding on spent buzzer shucks or taking the adults lying flat in the surface . In this case a little gink on the fly to help it shed the water like any other dry is needed . You can also fish these flies just the same way as you would a nymph or buzzer in any one of my videos , they are after all a buzzer imitation . Don't over think it too much and experiment for yourself , every angler will have a different way of using them and believe that theirs is the right way ! As I say fishing is not black and white so in answer to your question there is no specific way to fish any fly .. and the Shipmans should be treated as any other buzzer of nymph pattern .. Tight lines

I brought and sold the new Rio stillwater taper a few months back it was overweighted by 2 so was a 7 weight on my sage r8 5 weight rod (Even though it said 5wt on 5he box) And I don’t care what they say you cannot make a non stretch line lie straight no matter how much you hand stretch it. When fishing like this by the time you have felt the take the fish have hooked themselves , this can be helped by a little strip strike . If you strike a hooked fish you just increase the risk of hook pulls and snap offs . The only time you strike is when you can see the take i.e dry fly or indicator fishing .

You even have a 7wt line there, tried it with a 4wt and there is no energy transfer from fly line to tippet whatsoever, it just lands in a big mess. Please tell, what's the trick you don't have to taper down in a leader that long?

    I regularly use tippets of up to 24ft when competing . you can cast these with 4wts or 9wts and everything in-between . Its just down to casting technique . Without seeing your cast I couldn't start to give you any proper advise . It can be a timing issue or a tracking issue , sometimes an issue with your tackle balance . I would suggest if you are struggling to turn over a 12ft leader its timing or tracking . I would suggest a couple of hours with your local instructor and they will put your right .
