    I’ve just got back from a days fishing myself a Rhys vid is the Best way to end a Sunday. Washing line was lethal for me today. Black Fritz fab on the point and then combo of buzzers, diawl Bachs and Cormies at 4ft apart. 21 to the bank and lost a few good ones. I hadn’t even tried the washing line till I started watching your vids last year

    Hi Rhys, As always a great video and I've learned a great deal again! I've been trying to fish the washing-line lately but I'm having no success. The water is a medium sized resie, about 15ac, with bank access only. I've been using about a 12-15ft leader with two epoxy buzzers and a DB then a booby on the point. I've been fishing them fairly static, but having no success! I notice you aren't using buzzers here, and are figure eighting the flies back, am I fishing things too slow? Should I drop the buzzers and change to something like the cormorant? I know it's been a pretty hot month so that might explain things, but I'd like some advice! Thanks, Johnny

    Hi Rhys, would you do the same 7 second recast tactic on small stillwaters as well? Been trying to figure out how I should approach them with dries as the weather is getting warmer.

  • @RhysFishes

    @RhysFishes

    Жыл бұрын

    No. Small Stillwater’s are about leaving the fly there for 3/5 minutes. Reservoir trout are far easier to tempt and you have more water to cover on a large resi.

  • @nickmarshall6775
    @nickmarshall67752 жыл бұрын

    Rhys, is there any particular reason you fished a 7wt on the nymph in rod, rather than a 6wt to match the dries rod? I’m looking to switch to the vision stillmaniac but want to cover the dries and nymphs with just the one rod.

  • @jameswilson6717

    @jameswilson6717

    I have the stillmaniac 9’6 7 wt love it I’m actually looking to purchase another now because all my other fly rods just don’t feel the same in the hand anymore the handles on the vision rods are nice and slim.All the very best

  • @RhysFishes

    @RhysFishes

    2 жыл бұрын

    I'll be honest, I didn't like the Reddinton on this day. It's a rod better suited to the bung than the washing line. However part of the reason choosing a 7wt over a 6wt was to help with casting further and turnover. With the 6wt I'm fishing very short (12ft of fly line outside the tip at best) so a 6wt with it's softness is ideal.

  • @RhysFishes

    @RhysFishes

    2 жыл бұрын

    Ensure that you have enough space between them. As someone going from a 1 fly cast to 2. I’d recommend getting comfortable with 1 fly on a 12ft leader. Then introduce a dropper at 6ft. Fish like that for a few weeks/months until it becomes second nature then gradually fish a longer line with 2 flies (15ft for example). After an extended period then you can introduce 3 flies at 5ft intervals 👍

    The key is to stare at the general direction of your flies. on Smaller waters I fish flies that are soo small you'd never see them, but just keeping your eyesight in the general vicinity will be enough to spot those subtle takes.
