NYGHIL | COSMIC HORROR | OFFICIAL SHORT ANIMATION FILM
Фильм және анимация
„A faint whisper echoes through the abandoned corridors of a forgotten planet. An effigy of the bygone days of wealth and splendour before decay and failure.
Memories of infinite darkness, utterly out of the cosmos, yet parallel to the mundane spheres of the mortal. Lurking in the deep, a maze of time - a closed gate opened by the words of the unspoken abysmal evil.
Blazing through the vastness of the universe, an Eldritch Sentinel summons the power of existence.A bearer of light and dark is gathering the forces to complete an endless cycle of recreation and the rise of a new eon."
STORY:
NYGHIL is another part of the ZEPHID universe. Shown is the dark guardian NYGHIL, awakened and guided by a dark indescribable power. Ordered by a dark force to deliver a cosmic god, he begins his journey in the deepest ruins of the exoplanet XEBRETH.Stylistically and visually, the film is inspired by the stories of H.P. LOVCRAFT, as well as artists such as GIGER and BEKSINSKI
SOFTWARE AND HARDWARE:
The 3D scenes were created entirely in Blender with render engine Evee.Post processing and mastering as well as the visual effects were created in adobe Premiere. Some of the audio recordings were done by myself, for example the choir recordings and the voice recordings of Laura Fish. Many thanks to Laura Fish and Thomas Winkler for their great work and also to all you cosmic horror fans who are watching this short movie! You gave me so much inspiration for my projects!if you want to support me and my work, feel free to leave me a like and a subscription!
many thanks for watching!

As a huge fan of the concept of cosmic horror, I'm absolutely taken aback. The technical aspect of this movie, by itself, is enough to make it exceptional - the visual and sound design are absolutely outstanding in quality, and, beyond that quality, are so very unique and perfectly tailored to the very specific tone and aesthetic of the movie's universe and theme. But on top of that, the movie itself is so... well, at the risk of repeating myself and for lack of a better word, unique. Cosmic horror is a very tricky genre to convey, especially through video, because two of its pillars are, to me, the unknown and the incomprehensible - and how does one portray those without negating their nature? For this reason, the pieces of cosmic horror that I love the most tend to be the most abstract or vague. But your movie, while arguably abstract and vague, still shows a *lot* by what I think to be the standards of cosmic horror - I would personally consider even "just" showing the "Bearer of Light and Dark" in such detail to be a lot, and is usually more than enough to ruin that unique feel that cosmic horror is meant to convey. Except, here... It doesn't. I can't quite explain why yet, as all of this is still very fresh in my mind, but it feels like, while we do see and learn about several entities and places with very detailed visuals and even narration, every piece that is made somewhat tangible 1. is still intangible enough to remain "unknown", and 2. is shown in a way that leads us to conceptualize, or consider, or think about other pieces. I guess another way to express that last point would be that while we do get some pieces to the puzzle, every piece that we get lets us see more and more empty space where other pieces are missing. I'm sorry if I'm not making much sense - like I said, it's all still very fresh in my mind, so quite hard to put into words. But your movie gave me such a unique feeling that I wanted to express my appreciation, and why it felt unique. I'm looking forward to see more of your work!

Oh Wow! First of all a big thank you for this detailed review! And I think that you are somebody who is "in the know" and has already had some experiences and impressions in the field of Cosmic Horror, probably far more than I have. And to come to the point, I can confirm that this is exactly my essential structure in film production - the unknown. Of course, this can also be seen as an excuse for not knowing what I am doing, but I am always aware of this and try to ignore external influences and genres. Besides, these films are like a second, unknown world for me, in which I also immerse myself during the process of making them. I have no direct script except for the lore of Thomas Winkler, which represents an own cosmic universe (I hope tthat we can show more content and information soon). And it is really nice to reach so many great people like you, who share the fascination for cosmic horror and appreciate it. It is also very interesting to see who finds it "scary" and who does not. So once again a big thank you for taking the time, I really appreciate it. The next film is already in full production and I hope I can convince you just as much, if not maybe even more ;) Thank you!

They created an egg, the egg was moved, the egg was bathed, the egg was looked at upon. The egg began bathing in to dust the whole universe. Worst egg ever.
All that work crafting that egg just to have another entity slice it in half!? Even being an elder God is rough in the universe. Tough crowd. 🔥
Brilliant animation. The movements are very organic/realistic and the details are amazing. I'm really looking forward to the next part.

Amazing animation; Great Voice over; intense ambience; interesting and creepy 💯.
Loved it! Beautiful looking movie. Had me glued to the screen just waiting to see what the next scene was going to reveal. I also love how 'alien' in felt. Too many times in movies about aliens the writer, director brings too many human-like elements to tell the story, but the honest truth is we have absolutely no idea what another alien species is going to think like or move like or act like, so I feel you did a very good job of making it feel truly alien without losing the story in the process. I hope that makes sense. Do another one!

I think the visual aspects are very good, I especially love that strange door and the creature out in space. Just not completely sold on what is being conveyed. I think there's a line between the terrifying unknown, and just abstract vagueness. To me, a lot of cosmic horror's power comes from leading the viewer to try to understand that which cannot be understood or to confront that which is too far removed from comfort, but I didn't feel I had enough to work with to begin asking those questions.

Wow the atmosphere is amazing!
Not without it's flaws but amazing considering it is done by a single person. Strong "Begotten" vibe.
