NYC Subway Virtual Railfanning In 1988 with AUTHENTIC SOUNDS [BVE EXCLUSIVE!]

Ойындар

Inspired by videos that John C. Urbanski took back in 1988, I decided to recreate the NYC Subway system in that time on OpenBVE showing how exactly the B division was during the north tracks repairs of the Manhattan Bridge, resulting in additional B and D service via Broadway and Astoria. We're also right in the middle of the Clean Car and General Overhaul Programs, which makes a huge exciting variety of subway cars covered in graffiti, cleaned and recently rebuilt along with new R68/As in that short period.
In this film we are gonna make a railfan trip from Upper Manhattan to South Brooklyn via the IND 8th Avenue, 6th Avenue, BMT Broadway and West End lines stopping at various stations and filming trains including R10s, R27/30s, R32s, R38s, R40/Ms, R42s, R44s, R46s and R68/As with their authentic sounds from that time.
All aboard, grab some food, and here we go!
Credits:
-R27/30, R32, R38, R44, R46: BVEMudwrestle and PieSuperPac
-R68/A: ATheExpress
-John C. Urbanski for the videos, which is the source of the train sounds. (I have no right to redistribute these videos so do not ask for them.)

Some footnotes: the first pair of GE R32s was in service in July 1988 on the A, in mixed train of R38s, the other eight were outshopped from GE 12/5/88 and not in service until early '89. All 196 R38s were fully rebuilt as of December 1988. There were still some non-overhauled R10s in 1988 (tagged), these were GEs and lasted to 11/10/88. The Westinghouse R30s are technically correct with the air release sound from the manual load valve (the GE rebuilds might have had replacement). The first pair of Coney Island R42 rebuilds was done in January 1988, with the first eight cars in service in March. The MK rebuilds followed later in the year. Also a cameo by the R42s from The French Connection.

Excellent work! This is great work of an artistic recreation of the Nycta's past. Clearly, an exemplary effort and dedication to the precision and accuracy was allocated and successfully accomplished! It was great to see both the pre and post reconditioned Subway models in action and the decor of the station's prior to their renovation. It was like a time machine but just in the comfort of the present. This is virtually like recreating and revisiting the past! Great work. Look forward to seeing your future workings and projects.

this looks pretty awesome and after looking into the entire video you put in a lot of effort to make things look how they did in the 80s. and although some of the stations went mostly untouched, you must have taken a long time and used a lot of effort to make things look almost exactly how they were. Keep up the good work. if you were planning to make 80s routes you have already got a lot of it down.

Oh man, I remember the R44 tested with the illuminator destination signs. I was weirded out by the big flip dot A sign bonnet when I was little. 1988 was definitely a great year to remember with these trains. Glad I lived to see subways when in it was in its true condition. And to add, I'm shocked there was no R40 slant M trains featured (graffiti sets and GOH sets) during the runs. That was something I also remembered back in 88.
