Utilizing space with shelving, containers, and having drawers is a good way to help. Also getting rid of unused items or moving them to a location like a shed, basement, or attic frees up lots of space. As far as keeping it clean tools like a good vacuum, broom, and duster as well as making sure all items have a designated space, is the best and only way to keep a room clean :)

I love how the space is meant to be interactive. Entering is a stimulating experience where everything can be intervened, touched and enjoyed. It is a sensory experience of complete disrespect for the productivity of the capitalist system. A space that fulfills the function of inspiring and generating chatter. This home is a completely artistic installation that laughs at itself and makes fun of the concept of "house" as a functional space.

I don’t think disrespect for capitalism is meant in the original comment but rather disrespect to the notion that we always need to be productive and organize our lives (and appartements) in the most efficient manner. This notion of constant productivity is linked to capitalism.

I threw a party there last summer! He was so cool and gracious enough to host it, it was such a vibe. Homie’s record collection’s wavy too.
It's always wanted to see what has come of this place as I grew up in the building; my parents owned it in the 80s until 1992, after my father passed and my mother sold the building, and we moved out to Long Island. I'm impressed you know as much about the history of the building and storefront as you do. The building has some subtle changes from when I was there, but not much, which surprised me. The building was built circa 1920s. My parents owned the building in the 80s, so I grew up in that building. Back when I lived there and grew up in that building, it was a 2 family building. There was a door that went from the hallway/entryway of the residence-side where the side door on 54th Pl is, into the laundromat but my parents had it sealed off to rent the laundromat out. I still remember the 1950s brownish almost-Formica-like coating on the stairs and the dark brown 1940s-esque wood paneling in the apartment hallway. I'm happy to have run across this just to see it again and what's come of it.

Caleb, I think you have mastered the poker face that journalists adopt when interviewing their subjects. This guy's place has National Museum of American History (DC) currents, with Queens, NY secrets ... 👀
His place is just the definition of "iconic". The whole place is like a movie scene with him playing the nerdie weirdo character. I wouldn't be impressed if he had a secret high tech laboratory behind his "bathroom"😂
