nWo Lawn Dart Rey Mysterio Into Trailer - DEADLOCK Podcast Retro Review
Ойын-сауық
In 1996 Hulk Hogan, Kevin Nash, and Scott Hall formed the New World Order. On this episode of WCW Nitro the nWo show up and cause chaos in the back of Disney MGM where the show is being taped. Scott Hall and Kevin Nash show up with baseball bats and take out the American Males. On top of that, they throw Rey Mysterio into a production trailer like a lawn dart. This stops the show for some time as they try to recover and get medical attention for the hurt wrestlers. The show is disrupted and they have to change the scheduled matches. In the main event it’s the WCW World Heavyweight Champion The Giant against Greg “The Hammer” Valentine.

I love how James' version of the Nitro theme is just Elmo's World

That's a good point. He's in the Hogan Ball-licker Club, so you'd think he'd have joined, or at least tried to.

Lakitu being an nWo cameraman is a crazy visual to me
Jimmy Hart confessing his sins live on national tv is crazy. Peak 'DADDDYYYY!!' moment.
Jawnny being the world's biggest Mike Enos fan is crazy.

Do you think 1-800-Collect and Glover on N64 should get their money back from sponsoring a sham segment?

I think the HBK one is probably more influential, but its possible that it was inspired by the Big Show one.

Did the Observer notes get cut out in this video? Jawwny mentioned that he talked about them earlier, plus it felt weird with them going straight into the show without them.

Did they cut it out for the podcast version too? Probably talked about something crazy, but they don't want to publicised it.

I checked, and there was no Observer articles mentioned on the full episode. So they went straight into the show.

@@hankarmas Johnny mentioned during the show that Meltzer said that (paraphrased of course) "the angle is bad for ratings that week because its too long, but hopefully they pulled through on the story". So he did read the Observer. Probably got cut out or Johnny forgot.

I love how on deadlock they find a joke and run with it for the next 30 minutes
Glad you’re getting subs. I don’t even watch wrestling anymore, and this makes me laugh so hard!
When it comes to Mongo's running the ropes: I always think of a quote from Kung Pow. "We trained him wrong on purpose, as a joke."
@JackgarPrime
3 ай бұрын
I honestly don't know how that happened. Even the greenest student doesn't have that happen. I can only imagine that maybe Luger shot Mongo off a little too hard, and he didn't know how to adjust?
Speaking for Raw 1996 they where pushing the Summerslam build with Shawn vs Vader which did not turn out well with Vader and Austin slowly climbing up the ranks by having a second main event match with Undertaker and Austin having his early stone cold logo with the axe on the back of his trunks and that is it. Otherwise Raw 96 was a bad show to watch at times.
@JackgarPrime

Yeah 90's Raw, the main thing worth watching was the main event scene, while most of the rest of the cards just felt like filler. Meanwhile Nitro was rocking with cards that were consistent all the way up and down, especially with the Cruiserweights putting on bangers every week.
Dang. This was the first show I watched when getting back into wrestling.
Very progressive to have AI writing your titles now, fellas.

Just started watching/listening to deadlock recently these last few months, so maybe you just don’t cover ppv at all but if you could I’d love to see you cover sting vs hogan 2011 bound for glory, the crowd was absolutely hot for it 😂 I’m not sure about the rest of the show but I’m sure there’s plenty of terrible things to make fun of
