That was the best time to be a wrestling fan. So many wild things happening that we’d never seen. The NWO set off the wrestling boom of the late 90’s with that leg drop from Hogan. You think Taker losing at Mania was shocking, that one moment changed the whole entire wrestling business. It’s why Hogan is the GOAT…. He set off both wrestling booms, one as a babyface in the 80’s and the last one as a heel in the 90’s.

I still think Sting vs the nWo was the greatest wrestling storyline EVER. Yes even better than Austin vs McMahon. Sting had to walk the dark path to be able to defeat Hogan and nWo. Unfortunately the payoff at Starrade 97 sucked, but the nearly 1.5 year buildup was spectacular.

Getting off the roids will do that for ya. If you follow the timeline of when he got smaller it was after the steroid dibacle in the early to mid-1990s. You look at him in 1993 his mass is still like it was in the 1980s, but by 1996 when he was in WCW he was pure lean muscle and had lost quite a bit of mass. That's the roids effect. I have to say though around 1997 I was at Toys R Us with my family picking out stuff for Christmas in Clearwater Florida where I grew up, and him, the Giant, Macho Man, and one another I didn't know, came in and cameras were following them and they bought thousands of dollars of toys to go to some fundraising event. He walked right by me and honestly to this day I have never seen a man his height that muscular ever. He really was a sight to behold that the TV just cannot translate.

The 90s was the pinnacle of cool. You wouldn't understand if you weren't there. We had attitude. We didn't give a *u*k. We didn't kiss anybody's a**, and we were realizing we didn't have to give a *h*t what you thought about that. We were tearing down the authority and literally bringing in a new regime - we were truly united in our individualism. What happend? The 90s... the greatest time to be alive... everybody was crass, but everybody was given a fair chance. We had perfected human existence... how did we let it slip away?
