NV4500 to NV5600 SWAP IN A SECOND GEN CUMMINS!
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
TorqueKingTV presents . NV4500 to NV5600
A few things to note from this swap was that the old drive lines will not work the transfer case will be 4" farther towards the back of the pickup. This video will NOT go into detail in removing or installing the transmission. The new shift lever with the old transfer case will not have the right shift pattern on it. You can swap the insert between the shift knobs.

What an awesome upgrade to a truck that's been neglected and abused. Shoulda replaced the carpet since u guys were that close. Look at that dash. Oh my.
no comparisons driving the nv5600 vs the nv4500, the shifting is so much smoother on the 5600, better feedback, nicely geared, worth every penny for the swap, putting one in my 93 first gen as we speak.

Awesome!
God damn son that thing “ain’t got no dash in it” 😂
Fantastic, that's a great guy keeping Dads truck going! My son has my Dads first gen and we put a 4500 in it with parts from you guys. Now I just got a 5600 swap for my 2nd gen and got more parts from you guys. Customer for life! Do you guys have all the measurements for the 5600 shifter tower and late model transfer case shifter converting from 1996 47re ?
Y’all a good I bought an axle for my 1988 ford ranger only place I could find a danna 28 stub axle and I was able to get the trail truck going.
I just finished the g56 from a automatic 4x4 . What a learning experience especially the 4x4 shifter . I wish I had seen this video before . I cut the floor out of a 98 and wire welded it into place . I used the stamped vertical ribs on the left side to help me position the floor . Necessary or not I modify the 4x4 shifter lever to the driver side to help with clearance on the g56 . I also changed the lever on the transfer case. Lengthen the rod to connect the shifter to TC .. Seam seal and under coat , paint the floor . For sound I installed several layers of x Matt on transmission tunnel and a few layers on floor inside the cab . I used a lower shifter boot for a g56 and the floor console for a I think 2001 6 speed .. With the bm short shifter installed and just a hole in floor the noise is very noisy. After using the lower shifter boot for a g56 and the floor console for a 2001 I think 6 speed it pretty quiet . The dual disc does make some noise at idle

Glad you got it done! An alternative you could try (for next time!) is if you cut the older floor pan a little tall and the newer pan a little short, you could put rivet nuts in the original cab and bolt the replacement floor pan on so you can remove the whole thing for extra room whenever you have to do the clutch or crank seal next. It could be sealed with a roll of foam or rubber weatherstripping. You could then permanently make the shifter hole a bit smaller and help reduce some noise. Just some food for thought! Something like our TK1004 NV4500 floor plate kit could also help shrink the hole you have now, although I am unfamiliar with exact sizing for G56 compatibility. We'd like to see pictures of your fab work if you have any!

@@TorqueKingTV sure I was clue less when I started this adventure. Your right about the floor also , it be nice to be able to remove the floor and be a bit taller . I was told earlier on a 1 inch body lift probably help . The x Matt or what ever folks want really helped with the noise . My floor looks OK now . I send you some pictures if you want . I modified the floor shifter for the 4x4 to clear the g56 . I was not sure but I did not think it would hurt so I did . I can send you some pictures if you want

@@TorqueKingTV I get the pictures together.. the floor I welded in was out of a automatic so the hole around the g56 is just enough to keep from rubbing . I wanted the lower boot to seal properly
This was awesome!

That truck still had plenty of life in it! Doesn't look like much, but it's an honest truck...
My 97 2nd gen has the same squeak 😂
Can y’all do a 47RE to nv5600?
What is the difference in between the 5600 and the 4500 is the 5600 a 6speed or is it still a 5speed

The NV5600 is a 6 speed with the same overdrive ratio as the NV4500. It is a much larger, stronger, but more complex transmission with similar problems towing in overdrive.
What size tires are those?

We never looked at the side, but they were close to the 35" range...
Are the nv4500 and nv5600 bell housings the same?
