nobody ever covers detailed inspection of shift collar wear or points on syncros
How different is a 1965 Dana 44 from this one?
Do you have anything on a 2018 4500 ram front axel input seal?
Need price

With these and other ford superduty parts going possibly (dont know the real numbers, just know many already are) obsolete any plans to make some of the superduty parts yourselves ???
Yes, some of the most recent items added to our portfolio are rear wheel hubs up to 2014 I believe. We evaluate requirements constantly, nut sure what is up next for Ford but we make lots of different parts now.
Do yall sell the tools for installing the hub seal on the axle and installing in the knuckle and doing inner oil seals
Yes, we make those tools as well. Here is 99-04, but we make for all years torqueking.com/category/tools-1999-2004-ford-super-duty-dana-60f/#y=-393
I am looking for a divorced kit for a NV242. Let me know if you can help please.
This is the best video I’ve seen on replacing these, the TS3065 made it look easy.
He said a small hammer. Proceeds to pull out the largest dead blow ive ever seen.
Do the 1356s have crush sleeves that need to be set when putting them back together? I'm currently pulling mine to replace the inner seal and resealing it for leakes. Thanks for sharing this video.
No crush sleeves, but if it's coming out it may be a good time to throw a rebuild kit at it anyway. The chains are rated at an average 150k life span...
I did not see a dial indicator used to measure backlash
You are correct, looks like my video guy missed that part. I believe the spec os .001"-.010" on these, ideally it should be set at the lower end.
Why are you installing a new ring gear on the Differential Carrier with what appears to be a broken off bearing boss?
Good eye! We don't do service, this was a core axle for video purposes only. All parts are reused, we have an excellent parts washing cabinet. After video completion, the axle is stripped and all unserviceable parts discarded and serviceable parts sold individually as used.
Awesome!! Thanks for the video.
Thank you! Good video
Can I send a 4×4 core for a 2wd rebuild
We don't do service outside of our internal research and service videos, but Long Range Gear in Washington does excellent work.
If you’ve went this far and didn’t take off the adapter plate to reseal the cam o ring in the 24 valves, you’re gonna learn the hard way 😅
AWSOME MAN GOTTA LOVE THE USA, makes you wonder why snap on and otc has/had a hard time engraving USA on their tools. how long does a tip last ?
The tungsten tip can be resharpened until there is no stickout left, however we have not sharpened it since acquiring the machine a year ago. We mark thousands of items per year of various materials, I would say unless we brake the tip somehow it will last several years.
I'm tearing into one now, the front gears on the main and countershaft are completely stripped and input shaft bearing .Got to fix it cheap and good.was working and was stolen by teen that said it just locked up and quit at 15 miles.
yikes!
Can anyone recommend a place around Montgomery Al to get my NV4500 swapped and or rebuilt? It's n a 1992 D250.
I don't know of anyone down there, but Long Range Gear can arrange shipping for rebuilding in Washington.
What is the u shaped tool, soory been drinkin a lil here, that a presses against the yoke ?
That is the separator yoke, torqueking.com/product/884009/qt4009-large-size-u-joint-separator-yoke/
What is the GD brand of that C-FRAME press ? and where do you get one of those bohemoth MFs ???
Check this out -------> torqueking.com/category/ball-joint-tools/ We manufacture the adapters outside of Billings, Montana
Where is torque king located, do you have a store ?
We are located in Billings Montana and ship worldwide! torqueking.com/
like your products, is quad 4x4 (maker of this installer) your company ? it says usa made and where is it made?
Yes, for many years we were known as Quad 4x4 but updated to Torque King 4x4 to eliminate confusion with ATV parts, and to go along with our Torque King line of premium products. Our tools are still manufactured under the Quad 4x4/ Quad Tools brands at our Roberts, Montana machine shop.
What is the approximate torque to start crushing a new pinion crush sleeve?
They frequently exceed 300 ftlbs to start the crush.
Rare emergency brake assembly
Why don’t you just sit it on the floor ? 😂
i did my u-joints without renoving axle shafts while doung ball joints, easy pease, even for a 64 year old retired diesel mechanic with a 03 3rd gen sitting on driveway,
Do the scout ll and terra have the same axels? Meaning they can be used on either? Thanks
Possibly, the Dana book does not show a separate Terra listing. I would assume most components would be the same as a normal Scout II.
@@TorqueKingTV thanks for the response. I thought the same
Is it possible to get the 3rd member to tight? I adjusted my bearing preload with that tiny tool and it took some pretty good leverage with my ratchet. Is it supposed to be that tight? I mean i did check overall pinion inch lbs after i finished and im sitting at 40inch pounds total from the pinion and 3rd member preload. I just dont want that 3rd member to tight. Might overheat if i got the preload on the third member to tight right?
You should be ok with pinion at 40, the diff adjustment should also be fine if you followed correct hole adjustment. The bearings end up getting preloaded several thousandths, so it is tight with the tool.
Is the big gear supposed to be all gritty spinning it freely? It goes away moving the shift collar… but I don’t remember it being all crunchy spinning freely 🫤
Is the collar on the right driection?
I put a white mark on all the parts saying all faces input shaft. Took it out spun it got everything back in case and I think I gotta pull it once again. Cause nothing wants to turn 😂😢
Where was the torque calculation since the tool added leverage to the torque wrench? Why not put the torque wrench on the tail shaft so that it is on center? Amateurs.
They make punches for roll pins. Less chance of screwing them up.
Way overboard on the sealant. I would never beat on a syncro hub with a metal pipe like that. Learn how to use heat and freezing. That stuff will fall on. It's called finesse.
Great video! Thanks!
So many good one liners in a such a short clip. And helpful thanks!
Can a 94 ford dana 60 be retrofit to a 98 on up dana 60? Im looking to put the full hub assembly from the ball joint to hub
There are several differences between the housings, but we have not gone through to see what is needed to convert a newer Dana 60 to a hub/spindle setup from older parts. There are conversion kits available though. torqueking.com/category/hub-kits-dynatrac-free-spin-1999-2004-ford/#y=777
@TorqueKingTV gotcha yeah I'm looking to put the older hubs on a newer 60. For my 94. Want 3:55 gears. Just seeing if there was a cheaper why to make it happen with out tearing into the houseing
@@nohtgonahappen7314 I remember seeing stuff about this conversion years ago, but don't remember the details. Info is out there somewhere though.
Can you retrofit a 95 dana 60 hub on 1998 on up axle?
What is torque for bolts to tight these bearings?
Great videos! Building my second NV5600. Why cant you leave all the shift rails out and input seal when checking end play?? I remember my last one. Its an act of god getting them all lines up.
I guess you could, but you would need to disassemble all the way back to that point to put them back in. Shimming is done externally once assembled.
Says front axle service in title why are you showing back rear?
Sure looks like the front to me unless you have a rear steer axle! Offset differential housing and knuckle "C" at each end of tube kind of give it away...
Never heard anyone call the outer baring race "cups", but I'm not saying it isn't a proper term either. I assumed the "cups" are what the outer bearing races went into? Also, what was the reasoning behind swapping out the tone ring? I couldn't see damage to it?
Actually, cup and cone is the terminology used by the bearing manufacturing industry for race/bearing.... Quite technical, but it all means the same thing. We removed the tone ring to show the process, but it is not required if in good condition.
Do you have any similar videos on the dana 135 in the f550s?
I believe we have published the S110, which is similar. We have not acquired larger axles for video yet.
Id like to see another video that covers the seal that also includes the wear sleeve! It sounds like its installed the same as this seal but with the wear sleeve at the same time.
I don't have anything to do that video at the moment... But process is identical, the wear sleeve comes pre-installed in our seals and our tool is made to install everything simultaneously.
Actually the wear sleeve style is present in pieces of this video, the orange ring is seal with sleeve, black ring is without.
@@TorqueKingTV thank you for the reply! I'll go back and study the video a little further
hey, I got a question. I can't find an answer on forms or anywhere. The seal on the rear output shaft, is that installed from the inside or can I just replace that from the outside? like remove my transfer case, replace the seal and put the transfer back on
That is 100% an outside job, although your transfer case is also sealed from the input... Not sure what kind of leak you have but while you're in there check the 5600 for shaft play and that the vent on top of tailhousing isn't plugged.
what do for cross member or support bracket?
Each application is different, but would require some 1/4" plate with support above/ below/ around the mounting flange.
Great upgrade on that clapped out of girl😳
That truck still had plenty of life in it! Doesn't look like much, but it's an honest truck...
I have a single rear wheel drive Dana 80 on my 99 1/2 f250 I was told on the tag 373 gears and that it was a one ton Axle my question is when I seen you pull disk/drum off and apart it looked like mine ? Is it possible to make mine a dual wheel set up. I would appreciate an answer it looks like I would need the dual drum/disk to bolt to my hub I appreciate the information.
Ford only uses a Dana 80 in DRW applications... Single wheel was limited to Dana 60 and 70, but Sterling axles are more common. Generally speaking, a SRW uses a larger inner wheel bearing and that limits hub interchangeability. We do have some spacer adapters available for this conversion but we need to verify which axle it is. Send us axle pictures to [email protected] and we can evaluate your options.
I need to rebuilt my chev truck trainy, could I get you all to build the shafts so I can just drop them in?
Too much can go wrong in shipping for us to do that. Packing material would get in bearings, and syncro struts would pop out.
