This is only the 2nd Nuzlocke Ive seen of Battle Revolution and it's great. You played both differently and similarly to the first Nuzlocke of the game I saw. Having a limited Pokemon pool brcause of rentals really make the challenge interesting. Plus this game's music is sooo good. Still plays in my head years later, especially just the receptionist menu and Pokemon select themes. And then the battle themes keep the groove going. Love the video!

Finally, someone else has done it! Nuzlocking this game (with Gateway counting for deaths) was one of the craziest nuzlocke experiences of my life. The game took me over two years, and 26 attempts to beat. Congrats on the winning run, and cheers to others who try this brutal, fantastic game.

Yeah gateway colosseum seemed a bit much for me to include (though if I ever redo this challenge I'll include that) 26 attempts and 2 years is wild o_o respect to your dedication

@@RoryTheFiend Absolutely! Gateway’s randomness forced a lot of my runs to die. I only ended up going for three passes (Cindy, Tommy, and Daisy) because those passes were the necessary ones. Sneasel, Lumin, and Bellosom were all pretty much mandatory for the run.

52:00 you couldve used hail with piloswine to get rid of the fog and use the ability snowcloak to makes it easier. But you made it without death so respect from me👍 btw nice Video.

Yeah I was scared about hail not overriding the fog + hail chip could be bad for my teammates but it would've probably been best to have gone for it

See? I told you to just play well c: This was an absolute blast to relive. Honestly, might be my favorite project of yours so far! It was funny seeing how nervous you got over doubles battles, and now you can see that they're not so bad after all! Man, it was also a blast to theory craft some doubles teams too. PBR has some stinker mons in some of those passes, but also quite a few that shine really brightly! Job well done dawg. You're still the luckiest dog alive though, what even in the frick was that ending O_o

I'm quite happy with how this project turned out, though it's outside of my immediate usual target demo, I'm hoping there's enough overlap and people give this video a chance, though I'm expecting lower viewership. Yeah the double battles weren't as bad as I thought, I just figured it'd lead to more scenarios where I had no choice but to sack a pokemon. Aside from the ocassional hiccup I do think I played through the game competently. Theorycrafting the teams was great, I think the A team was really powerful but we never even needed them in the end, even though 99/100 we should've lost that final colosseum. My luck comes and goes, fortunately it was in full swing for battle revolution.

This is a really fun video idea, I love this game but never thought of Nuzlockeing it, good job. Also, you found a shiny in the trade battle at the end?! Man that’s lucky, she even sent it out! I’ve tried shiny hunting that game mode, found and managed to keep a Snorlax but even that took me a while to get so, congratulations.

Battle Revolution is one of my favorite games of all time! I'm currently playing through all 4 "generations" of pokemon games and will transfer all the pokemon to revolution to play there. Watching this just makes me wish johto was not so long

Thank you! yeah one of the reasons why I wanted to try this, aside from it being a game I enjoy, Is how I've not really seen it before done before

My boy Muk is my favourite Pokémon so seeing him put in such insane amounts of work is amazing for me! He and Bellossom were an unlikely duo, but they perfectly worked together in the end! You love to see it! They have a bond that can never be broken! Especially with Bellosom tanking that Zen Headbutt, she couldn’t let her partner down!

Muk is one of the best pokemon you can use for this game, great stats, passive recovery, set up move to raise attack and its lower defence, aside from a good stab move it has everything you could want. I'm really surprised bellossom tanked that Zen Headbutt, genuinely how did it do so little lol

@@RoryTheFiend Indeed! If Muk had like poison jab he would have been set for life! But my boy put in such amazing work and I love him for it! Honestly as to how she survived, I have no idea, could have been a combination of natures, IV’s, and a really lucky low damage roll I imagine.

I might need to revisit this game and actually beat it for once, i can't belive i have never done that as a child. Great content all around! Also, YOU CAN SWAP POKEMON AROUND?! Oh baby, lumineon and bellosom are coming with me to every damn battle, no matter the match up!

You absolutely should! It's a fun game and now that you know you can swap pokemon around you can make a pass with your 6 favourite pokemon out of the ones available!

Thank you! I've been working on the script for my next video today! And for the bulbapedia style team charts, well there's no elegant answer, I opened up paint.net and manually edited each image, cutting and pasting, redoing texts. It's a bit of a tedious process but the end result makes it look pretty close to a real bulbapedia image!

Great video dude! My only critique here is when you're showing the in-between fights, you could either boost the music/add sound effects to each hit and make them slightly more "Snappy"? Like closer cuts of each hit or give a small commentary over each even if it is a clean sweep so that way there's less down time as it were. The good aspects I'd like to also point out here is that you can definitely tell you're passionate about this game and I can feel the love. Your explanations are also fantastic! This isn't meant to bring you down or be rude at all! This is more meant to be helpful towards your growth here on youtube cuz this is an amazing video idea and it's your first step towards something great here!

Thank you for the honest and earnest feedback! I appreciate it, my use of sound effects has always been under utilized aside from the random silly one I put in for my own amusement. I'm not opposed to stuff like that, and I know it's common among other youtubers, so it's something I'll consider going forward. Thank you for your kind words though, at the end of the day I'm just winging it and have somehow found an audience lol, but here's hoping I can continue providing content people enjoy in the coming months!

@RoryTheFiend Aren't we all at the end of the day? Lol but no seriously. You've got the right idea so far it just needs a hair of fine tuning and you'll be great 👍 btw, as a word to the wise. You want to keep your mic volume for your voice over around -6 to -8 at a minimum. That way your voice is heard clearly and it doesn't sound quiet/far away. For music the general rule is -16 to -24 decibels so it's still heard but doesn't overshadow your voice. It's the voice over standard more or less. You can always equalize both to peak at those particular decibels as long as you're not peaking your mic ^^

@@ianlawvoiceover1056 Thank you my audio skills are quite lacking, and using a snowball usb mic has its limits. That aside, I've recently acquired an XLR mic and I'll try out your audio suggestions to see how it goes next video. Every video I feel like I've improved the general quality at least a little bit so hopefully next video the noticeable upgrade will be its audio!

Agreed, though some are quite short the music is great. and as I said in the video my favourite colosseum themes are Magma and Courtyard!

Weather works! The steel trainer in that Colosseum has a sandstorm-mon and weather isn't permanent. (possibly early implementation before gen 5) When the sandstorm stopped it wouldn't reapply and unluckily I was at my last two and the opponent had at least one 100 accuracy Pokemon in the back. After that I brought sunny day to make it consistent to get past most of the trainers!

You weren’t going to swap some of the bad mons huh just full vanilla versions of the rental sets. I certainly would be happy to trade away that seadra pikachu and togetic while acquiring that rental set. Often I end up trying to get a vibrama. I suppose it makes sense to do so in a challenge run but there are definitely some mons that would be better off being traded if you allowed it.

Omg I had to play this entire game with rental only cuz I don't have a ds and was it difficult, i spent hours and hours with strategies for beating the game, the rentals are so trash😭😭

I agree with you the animations are better, which you'd expect from a game purely focused on the battling aspect. But yeah, I've got my problems with gen 8 / 9 graphically and animation wise

@@RoryTheFiend Fair, but that game is how old, ten years or more? Not to mention that Pokémon games tend to have separate arenas for fights anyways. The animations here feel so lively, it's a shame they never did that again. The new Pokémon models look great and would be perfect with these animations in my opinion bit sadly, it doesn't seem like we would get that anytime soon

@@xPandamon This game is 18 years old o_o it is legally allowed to vote But yeah I agree, I think battle revolution looks great, if the pace of the battle can be sped up for mainline games then it'd be perfect with the fancier animations (you ever see the infamous double kick animation where the pokemon does a tiny hop?)

It'd be cool if this game hadt a few features like using points to evolve your pokemon, or buying tms to upgrade movesets

can't research opponents teams feels like a weird addition considering 90% of a nuzlock stream is a guy calculating damage averages and the probability to kill and figuring out how to do ai behavior exploits all to theory craft the optimal strategy to beat a trainer.

I really like the announcer, and yeah it is the same voice actor as the Narrator from the Original pokemon anime. In that sense it's quite nostalgic and I can tell he's really giving it his all.

Most overrated game in pokemon history just because it isn't Collosseum or XD again
