Nuts and Alzheimer's
A recent study by the Institute for Basic Research in Developmental Disabilities in New York has shown that a nut-enriched diet could have a beneficial effect in reducing the risk of developing Alzheimer's, delaying its onset or slowing the progression of the disease.
This study performed with genetically modified rodents, these were fed with an equivalent of 30 and 45 grams of nuts daily in humans, and the results showed significant improvements in their learning, memory, motor development and anxiety reduction. These
Promising results set the stage for a future human study.
More and more specialists agree that food is largely responsible for the effectiveness of our nervous system.
In general, excess carbohydrates (too much sugar, sweets, alcohol, refined foods, etc.) and saturated fats tend to attenuate brain activity, while proteins activate it.
Dried fruits, legumes, broccoli and fruits like apple, pear and peach are rich in boron, which is a very important nutrient for proper brain activity.
It is vital to avoid cholesterol because the cerebral arteries should be as clean as possible to support brain oxygenation and nutrition.
