I'm in a tough spot. For the past year, all I looked forward to was nursing school. I'm currently 3 weeks into my program and I'm starting to really dislike it. I've thought about PTA in hopes of a less stressful environment. I've though healthcare was for my basically my entire life, now I'm not so sure. I'm not the biggest people person and I'm not sure I ever will be. I used to be more susceptible to socialization and liked the idea of caring for people. I don't think that's for my anymore, especially with Covid. I'm stressed enough and I don't want to get through my program, all that time and money spent, just to stress more. Isn't that way we go to school? To get a better job that isn't as stressful? Isn't the whole goal of education to keep achieving your highest sense of self? How can that be accomplished if I'm stressed constantly.

I am sorry you are feeling stressed Rachel. It is no joke that schools that help us pursue a specific career is difficult and stressful - like PT, nurse, law, engineer, etc. I think its good to remember that the school portion of the career journey is likely the HARDEST part. PT school for me was by far the most difficult and stressful season of my entire life. As soon as I started working s a PT, life was guuuuuuuuud (: So thats one perspective. However, if you feel like you are not going to like this career, its better to stop now, than go through it all and spend all that money just to quit. It take courage to do this. And unfortunately….. sometimes people wait to graduate and start working just to quit because they didn’t have the courage to do it earlier.

@@drjustinleedpt Thank you for your extended advice. I dropped my nursing classes about two weeks ago. I haven't told anyone but my boyfriend. I'm eyeing a different major all together. Business management. I'm really eyeing healthcare administration too. The thought of having to go through all of that exhausting and expensive school, hoping that the job at the end of the stretch will be worth it, only to hate the job too is frightening me into the point of anxiety attacks. I already feel stuck, and don't want to keep feeling stuck for the remainder of my grinding years(I'm 20), or worse, feel stuck for the remainder of life when it comes to a career. It's just super stressful. I also want to actually LIVE in my yuh young years and not regret not going out more. Not even to party and drink, but to just make memories. More traveling, more trying out scary things, etc. But all of that costs money, which I need for school and barely have enough of to get by. I think I'm just going to work for a year, maybe take a vacation, live a little, take some pictures of places I've never seen before(I've lived in the same run down, crappy city for my entire life and have only briefly seen the outskirts of it, which, aren't much better from my hometown itself, so I know this is contributing to my unsatisfying perspective on life and myself right now), and just try to get my life together a little before I make a big move like pursuing a degree, something so solidifying to your career and being in general. I'm just so tired of chasing money and everything feeling as if it's out of my reach when it comes to finances, I guess. This has been such a rant about a lot of overwhelming things, so, if you or anyone else actually read all of this, thank you for listening.

Honestly, people don't realize how much stress and liability comes with nursing. The whole focus on meds alone and that nurse who just got tried for the wrong med given plus COVID. I was a in the nursing program in 2020, but I’m a bit traumatized to restart, I’m currently in health science it is easier however I always wanted to be a nurse since highschool and I enjoyed the program especially clinicials. It’s just I did not do too well on the exams which made me end up having to leave the program. I slick want to go back but I’m a bit intimated. I know I can go into physical therapy with my health science degree but I’m still confused on what career I want to do. I just know I want to be in the medical field and help pts to the best of my ability

Nursing seems to be very focused on the medicine and safe distribution of it. In other words, nurses are very liable for any errors even if the Dr. prescribed the wrong dose. It's a lot and not something everyone is comfortable with. I know I've had second thoughts and many others in the program as well. I actually was looking into the therapy positions (OTA, PTA) etc. I also found that while obtaining a different degree was challenging, it didn't feel like I was stressing my body out to the point of mental exhaustion (like nursing classes).

The information you shared for salary is very minimal, it's something anyone can find out by just googling "nurse salary" (or similar key word phrases). What if you discussed topics like: What is the salary of these careers driven by? Does that mean that a 6-figure salary is likely out of the question if I pursue these careers? What factors influence the demand of the job outlook? Are there any salary differences based on geographic location? What is the analysis/rationale behind the YoY numbers you've mentioned? (Yes I know you just googled and found numbers online to throw in your video, but where did people online get these YoY numbers? What details do articles on Google highlight?) These are some example questions which may help make your salary and job outlook section more insightful and informative, you should be able you to come up with more and better questions.
