Good to see Randy on his list.
Really refreshing to see an acknowledged great guitarist name his four top guitarists, and to see that none of them would be on my own top four list! That's not to say he is wrong, because he is naming HIS top four, not mine. "Respect."
Johnny Marr is on my Mt. Rushmore because his guitar playing always makes me want to play guitar myself.

Smiths songs are deceptively hard to play. Attempting to master some of those more complex alternate picking guitar bits whilst keeping the rhythm and pace requires quite a lot of dexterity and skill.
As far as rock guitar players there plenty of names to be mentioned but as far as a guitarist one name comes to mind Andres Segovia

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. My Mt. Rushmore: Greg Howe, Dimebag Darrell, EVH, Yngwie J. Malmsteen. My selections are based not only on playing ability but more importantly on creativity. Each of these 4 players has an extensive body of works that is truly remarkable and legendary.

They should just call it what I call it: Mount Axemore. That tells you exactly what it is a group of. I have too many favorite guitar players to have just one Mount Axemore. But lately I have been thinking of guitar players that "changed the rules", so to speak, meaning they defied convention. And my four of those are Hendrix, EVH, Yngwie, and Vai.
Maybe it is a generational thing as he says because for me it is Joe Walsh, Nils Lofgren, Paul Kossoff etc,. Doesn't have to be on an Edison Phonograph though so I'm not a total fossil.

Nice to see Nuno praising Brian May, as according to Brian "Get the funk out" solo is impossible for him to play :)
jimmy page 1st place by a mile for me, then blackmore, gilmour, evh. growing up in the 70s.
I would say, Hendrix, Beck and halen. My top three would be Gilmour on the top and Nuno and Navarro share the second.
The new generation of guitarists are mind-blowing and deserve the spotlight. From Tosin to Mario Camarena...Plini to Aaron Marshall.. they've truly taken the instrument to another level most definitely carrying on the legacy of the greats that came before.
